May I be so bold as to suggest a speed reducer for your sewing machine. It will be SO much easier to control.

I really wanted this machine but it leaves marks on the veg tan leather grain side
even with the roller foot. Anyway to avoid this? 9:35 and 10:09

Marks are by the skiving machine... It happens with veg tan leather. If we go with chrome tanned, no marks issue.

Did the skiving machine leave a mark on the good side of the leather ? 9:48 long side of the wallet an 9:57 on the bottom part of the wallet. other then that it looks amazing

Great video - enjoyed it..... and it cost me money! I just had to purchase a rotary cutter. BTW, your links above are broken. the numbers after the dash are not included. To find the item I did a search on the full number and was able to find the item that way.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the details and what you’ve found that worked. Beautiful job, what sewing machine do you have, and would it be good for an all around basic machine to do belts, bags, padfolios and similar projects with? I am trying to help my son get his leather tools built up.

What is the product number for the handheld electric burnishing tool being used here? It’s not the machine noted in the comments, and I didn’t see it in your store online. I’d like to get one like that. Thank you.

Hello Tandy Leather. Would it be possible to do a showcase on leather other than veg tan? I know there's pictures on the site, for me it's not easy to tell if that leather is for me from one photo. Would also be nice to see the flexibility.
I may be thinking to hard, I've failed to find videos of; rustic, Samara, and Buffalo
Thank you for finding a way to continue business during these trying times.

Great for the professional shop or the wealthy hobbyist with more money than sense. Useless for the average hobbyist. Pushing all these machines and dropping some of the kits for popular items shows that Tandy is going the way their Radio Shack division went. Getting away from the hobbyist and going with big ticket items and gear for pros just turns off the hobbyist and sends us looking for leather, patterns, tools, and accessories from other sellers.

Hey Grady, we want to provide tools and materials for beginners all the way to professionals! We offer several tools for hand skiving. We also have RUclips videos demonstrating how to use those tools! Here are links to our Safety Beveler bit.ly/2URronm and our Super Skiver bit.ly/2VdbqDh We have not forgotten about our hobbyist and crafters! We are doing Facebook Live classes with masters like Jim Linnell and Aaron Heizer with FREE patterns! These are Monday through Wednesday starting at 12pm CST and Friday at 12pm CST. Be sure to tune in today on Facebook to learn from Jim Linnell! We would love to see you there!

LOL! "Radio Shack?!!??" You clearly haven't ever taken any of LMC's equipment for a test drive--dream machines! Also, Tandy also still carries all the stuff for hobbyists, so they are useful to everyone, not just hobbyists. As for me, I'M LOVIN' IT, because I have a LOCAL Tandy store, and the folks there are GREAT about helping and answering questions, and you can even bring your project into the store to get help with it. And yeah, check out Makers Leather Supply channel for lotsa tutorials.

@@Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers Laugh all you want. I'm sure that your sense of superiority keeps you all warm at night. I've been working in leather for about 50 years. You clearly have no clue as to the history of Tandy's Radio Shack division and what killed it off or you wouldn't be such a smug, patronizing jerk. I'm very familiar with Tandy's history with leather and tools and how they have changed in the last half century. You clearly paid no attention to what I actually said, but saw it as a way to try to put somebody down. Go masturbate your ego somewhere else. Your opinions are meaningless and useless.

@@TandyLeatherCo Thank you for responding. For some reason I am only just now seeing it. You may not have "forgotten about hobbyist and crafters" but you have definitely put us on the back burner. I know others that share the exact same opinions I expressed. You have been and are pushing tools for the professionals and well-heeled hobbyist, but virtually nothing for the entry level hobbyist. Not that there aren't small kits and basic tools available, although some classic kits (e.g., western gunbelts and holsters) have disappeared. But the emphasis is on things like this that the average person can't really afford and wouldn't use very often. This machine is $2475 on your website as I write this in March 2021. I definitely have more invested in my leather shop than that, but it is a result of many years of buying it all. To justify the cost of equipment in a business sense, there has to be a positive return on investment. I submit that anyone buying this would also likely be buying several other professional machines. It takes bottomless pockets for a hobbyist, or a professional shop to make any sense of that. How much skiving has to be done to amortize the cost? That's a lot of leather production. As to the online videos and classes, I've seen about everything Jim Linnell (great stuff) has done over the years and I've been following and watching Aaron Heizer (another good source) since he put up his first videos - before his association with Tandy. And when are you going to restore the wishlist feature to your site? It disappeared when you changed to a new format and a Tandy customer service rep told me "not long; we're looking for just the right software model" when I asked about it. Last year. BS answer.

@@GradyGillis Actually, I think it is you who have a "sense of superiority" issue. When I replied originally, all I was thinking was how grateful I am that Tandy is expanding their service and tools, and how awesome expanding one's own skill set with techniques and with new (to you) tools is for keeping things energized and creative. You came back with such an overapplication of vitriol that I'm quite startled. I hope you find peace, and I definitely hope no one with less intestinal fortitude than me runs across you, because you could really hurt someone with your attitude.
