  • Throw out what you think you know about economics. This week, self-described “renegade economist” Kate Raworth of Oxford University, explains how to think like a reality based economist, and two eco-feminists, one from South Africa, the other Mauritius, share a chat under a tree about Marx, feminism and life on the planet.

I enjoy Kate Raworth's analysis on economics. The way we are taught about economics feeds into this systemic problem that uproots and weakens our commons, society, and democracy. Our focus on finance and constant growth is a major problem and I appreciate the fact she focuses a lot on how we can change that. Thank you for sharing her insight!

if you are not too removed from poverty, short life expectancy, dying from infectious disease and malnutrition, you would feel differently about the value of growth - i.e. creating higher value over time resulting in a world where fewer people live a horrible existence.

@@jon123xyz. It was mentioned almost as a passing comment, but Kate Raworth spoke of a distributive economy. I believe that is at the core of development where people have plenty, a say over their lives and production, and the systemic structure moves away from a few people making decisions for the greater mass of the population.

I like the chart at about 23:48 that shows the central square of money markets being replaced by a heart.

Humanity is on a death trajectory with very few indications to suggest that that is not what the controllers are pursuing.

Take Dale Vince he runs renewable energy business ecotricity and drives the change with everything he does, even bought soccer club, turned them vegan and won tge league
"do good and talk about it" I like that by Kate Raworth..
Veganism is a great solution for many problems, it will play a big role in the doughnut economics
