The use of video in impair driving/boating arrests have convinced many an offender (when they sober up) that the prosecutor’s plea deal is more than acceptable. I’ve been to trials where the defendant shows up all prim and proper, with an aire of “pillar of the community” about them, but their attorney knows all is lost already. Then the video of them drunk, cursing like a sailor, threatening, combative, etc. rolls, you can see the instantaneous reaction of jury that they cannot wait to convict.

I’m 42 yo. I have a 14 yo daughter and share custody with her father. A few months back, while kiddo was at her dad’s for the weekend, I met up with a friend for happy hour… ended up closing the place 5 glasses of wine later. While my friend chose to drive home, all I could think of was Bruce Rivers saying “Fuckin’ A! it’s easy to avoid a DUI by just not driving! Gimme a break!” I stood in the rain waiting for Uber, got home safe, had a tremendous hangover the next day, picked my car up and felt assured I made the right choice. Because of your videos, I made the right choice for myself, my family, and the other people on the road that night. Your videos really make an impact. I have a friend who was a cop, he attended 3 accidents in 2 weeks once and one of them had a baby in the back seat with its head smashed in, another had the car seat flung from the car as it was ripped in half and pieces of the parents and baby were on the road…the last one in that two weeks was an 8 year old and a 10 year old who bled out, the mother survived but was unconscious and in a coma for weeks, one kid lost a leg one kid lost half their arm and bled out.
All 3 were caused by other drivers getting hit by someone texting, someone drinking and the other one had been smoking weed and was tired and driving home.
He also lost his best friend in a car accident not long before that, anout a year before, although he didn’t attend that accident.
He had a nervous breakdown and quit the force soon after, took him years in therapy to stop the nightmares.

I mean, he's kinda wrong though. There's a CHANCE that if she was black, they would act different. But there's also a chance they wouldn't. I've seen hundreds of videos of cops giving too much leeway to black people digging through their things (and sometimes get shot for it), and I've seen hundreds of videos of cops giving NO leeway to white people. So while I agree black people are treated differently sometimes, it's not fair to say we know for SURE that's what would happened. Bruce is a lawyer and seems very analytical so I'm kind of dissapointed to see him fall for the classic "if they were black, guarenteed ____ thing would happen" when the truth is things don't work in 100% like that. Also, sneaky thing Bruce did here was he said a black "man", specifically. Because he knows men are expected to be violent, and women aren't. But for some reason, we don't talk about that

I also think it depends on what part of town they are in as well.
I don’t think you can say that it’s not true tho. A young black man, or female does not get away with this as much as a white people, especially a female. I have seen them be extremely patient with young, extremely off the hook black females, so I really think it depends on the cops. I think it’s getting better.

Ended up not being charged due to the missing calibration tag from the roadside breathalyzer, a no-show witness (the witness who told the police that they saw hubby stumbling and falling), and judge-reviewed body cam footage (sans audio) where he said it does not look like he was intoxicated in any way. My husband had been drinking, but was under the .08 at the time of his arrest. Imagine, coming home at 6am from a 12 hour night shift of driving a haul truck at a coal mine and wondering where your husband’s truck is, going in the house, and finding him absolutely hammered on a quart of Fireball…that the cops took out of his truck, and gave to him before the tow truck got there. I should mention it was unopened when they gave it to him. Anyway, like @SmidgetBC said…just don’t drink and drive. It’s not worth the headache you give to those around you.

I can say that any time I was belligerent like this (and that was far more times than I care to admit,) every word out of my mouth was a protection of how I felt on to my victim. These police officers did a great job of showing mercy and professionalism. Whenever there are videos on RUclips related to addiction and criminality there are always some comments from addicts who want attention and a pat on the back for the things they do and always there is the same , it's all me me and me. " Look at me ,I'm so many months, years in recovery " pat me on the back "it's not my fault " and none of them like you take any responsibility ever. You used the word " mercy " poor addicts. There are many people who live with horrible physical and mental pain every day, who have gone through horrors in their lives but don't become addicts and commit crimes or ruin people's lives. I'm tired of reading the same narcissistic comments. Here we are again. Yes, addiction is horrible but it is a choice and just because you stop making that choice, does not mean you need to be praised or you are mentally stronger than anyone else.

When she said, "I'm sorry you weren't popular in high school" she put herself firmly on the same level as Suitcase Sarah who for some reason thought she needed to let the cops know that decades ago she had been "a straight-A student". It makes me wonder if maybe both of them were "mean girls" who long for the time when they were in school and could bully their way through their days, just as they are trying to bully their way through their current situations.
BTW, this woman should know that when you have to tell someone "I'm high class" you probably aren't. The cops may not have gone to college, but they aren't the ones who are drunk as a skunk in the backseat of a police car after blowing through barricades and going the wrong way down a one-way street....with a baby in the backseat, so who's the person who is low class? Country comedienne and member of the Grand Ole Opry, Cousin Minnie Pearl said, "When you educate a fool, all you have is an educated fool." Cousin Minnie must have known this woman.
