I love that you decided to share your NYC footage with a themed reading vlog! I would recommend checking out Amy Poeppel's books - all are set in or near NYC and have family dynamics, flawed characters, humor and although there are rich people problems she pairs them with folks who are less economically privileged. Favorite bookstore is Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis - childrens to YA books and they have cats and chickens and other such animals hanging out!🦊🍎

I totally agree about One For My Enemy. It was originally a short story but she added like 200 or so pages. It should’ve just been published in it’s shorter form to be honest

🍎 I love NY, I’m originally from Staten Island. I love my hometown. My favorite bookshop is The Mysterious Bookshop in NYC.
I bought The Nest when it came out because of the cover and really struggled with it. I also didn't love the characters! I have been avoiding Pineapple Street because it definitely gave me similar vibes, so good to know you connected to that one more.
I actually really really loved Pineapple Street! And I thought pairing it with the audiobook made it really funny as well!!! 😊❤

🍎 I have a few favorite bookstores: The Last Bookstore (LA) , Joseph-Beth Booksellers (Cincinnati, Ohio), and The Book Mill (Montague, MA.) The Book Mill’s slogan is “Books You Don’t Need in a Place You Can’t Find!” It’s indie bookstore that sells used books. The ambience is incredible and I know you’d love it! You should come here to Massachusetts sometime in the Fall! The fall foliage is breathtaking, the vibes are peak New England, it’s like all of your dark academia dreams come true! 💜

Vromans in LA is my absolute favorite bookstore. It has a barnes and noble feel but almost more quaint, and less commercial. It just feels very special there.
I went to NYC twice this summer. One day I took a tap class at Steps on Broadway. 😃
My favorite book store is Powells. Its a used and new bookstore here in Portland,Oregon. It is a whole city block and 5(?) stories high and is AMAZING.

The Nest is one of the few books I DNF. I struggle with “the woes of the wealthy” stories anyway, and none of those characters were worth the effort.
My most favourite bookshop back in NZ (before I moved to Canada) was called the Hard to Find but Worth the Effort Bookshop. It was a combination of 2nd hand books and Rare Books Shop and I LOVED it. I no longer buy physical books here in Canada. My eyes are not so good so I buy E-books now. My favourite E-book bookshop is KOBO!!! 🍏🍎 ♥
I can’t say for sure what my favorite bookstore in the world would be but my favorite I’ve been to is probably Kramers in D.C. I also recently visited Maggs Bro. In London and that was pretty awesome

🍏So many interesting book stores!! Where I live we mostly have chain book stores. My favorite store was actually a really small one I found in Stockholm years ago. I sadly lost where I wrote down its name, so I can't even google if it still exists.

I hope you can meet up with your friends again soon, it looked so fun! I loved One For My Enemy but I did feel the same way as you about like specifically Sasha and Lev, I thought they were going to be in love, not at all like how they actually were when they were first getting together. I actually loved the other romance a lot more and wish the whole thing was just about them and not even about Sasha and Lev 😂 I can definitely understand your complaints. 🍎
I love memoires and biographies and Just Kids is probably my favorite. Her and Robert Mapplethorps love story is beautiful, but very sad, of course, since Robert died of AIDS in the eighties. Its incredibly well written.
🍎, I picked up One for my Enemy and Pineapple Street a few months ago. One for my Enemy started out promising. I got a little over halfway and the wheels came off the story. I flipped back through to see if maybe it was bound wrong. Unfortunately the later half of the book is the same as the beginning. In the end I donated the book to the library. Still haven’t started Pineapple Street. Anyway have a great weekend.
