    Abstrax released a study in 2019 I believe talking about how the main skunky smell that weed is known for is NOT terpenes but another class of chemicals they refer to as CSCs. What was also interesting is that they peaked at 11weeks which def plays into the Convo about potential flavor and expression and how long the plants flower

    • @ToridoodlesAnderson
      @ToridoodlesAnderson Год назад

      Most skunks are ester alcohols that’s why they are so volatile and known for because they are not bonded to the plant like a sesquiterpene

    Love the show! I over vegged a little over a month extra my photoperiods to finish my auto off. I am a first time grower so I didn't realize the difference at first lol but I love both! And it did give me time to learn to do lst correctly and get through a few nutrient deficiencies, how to handle gnats and now my plants have actually filled the whole net. Its weird how even different strains of photos can be so different in size and preferences of everything lol I have learned a lot in the last 3 months! I flipped to flower about 2 weeks ago and can't wait! I also got a better light so I figured let them have a chance under a real light and I think taking you're time has its benefits although I definitely wish I was in flower sooner. Have definitely loved learning and nurturing them. I also learned how to clone which took a very long time to get down lol have 3 little experiments going now so I had enough clones for mother plants and to share with family. It's a really fun hobby to say the least with either autos or photos. Its like a suprise with autos and I do prefer the control of photoperiods but I have seen a lot if beautiful autos and can't wait to try more!

Out side of a SCROG how do I keep my plants small with the least amount of work I’m thinking topping but I don’t really wanna cut off that big beautiful top bud, cutting veg down to one or two weeks and possibly wrapping the net pot in burlap to restrict the root ball size. Could you talk a little bit about keeping plants small thanks!

    Personally flushing is down to the how one feeds. If you do dry backs, then more nutes will be extracted from the substrate. But in coco you would then loose the benefits of keeping it moist at all times. So In that situation I would flush, as my EC will also be higher on my run offs. I use heavy synthetics from advanced nutrients. they give great yield and nice flavour if I flush, but always an after taste if I don't. Growing auto's in coco, so I do push the nutes when I can. but I now taper down. and flush at the end. for best results. Another scenario could be a low vpd thats reduced transpiration rates and caused a build up of unused nutes in the substrate. With many people now using bottom fed systems or but chugging, it makes it harder to take constant ec readings off the run off.
    I like my leaves to fade with the senescence, which bringing out more colour in the bud and removes the Chlorophyll from the leaves. So flushing helps with thats to.

    I have a few grows under my belt from seed. I quit smoking over a year ago and have no connections. I'm looking at autos as a quick way to get some bud so I can grew great bud from seed. No other reason. I won't grow autos after that. A means to an end.

    At work Only moms that are older than 25 nodes get clones taken. And only nodes after 25. This helps speed up flower time not just bro science. More Oxytocin. To preserve a clone as a mom we try to take right at the 12th node. Go look up plant morphology in different stages. An auto at 12th node I swear is like a photo at 25. I grow some fast flowers and autos outdoors. Month indoors and 4 outdoors. Not uncommon to see frost into beginning of June and snow snow in Oct. Photos get 2 months indoors. Found I am getting better quality out of smaller plants.

    The autos now are a lot more stable. Some look like clones when compared side by side and have more vigor than clones. IMO, nightowl genetics is killing it. I think autos are a little harder to grow than photos. I've grown both, and the learning curve of autos is steep photos. You can fix them with veg time. With the autos, you gotta be on it the first 25ish days. After that, it's smooth sailing with living soil or coco and salts.

    I’m on team pigeons420 on the autoflower stance . Autos are inferior to photoperiod plants in nearly every aspect. Single tent perpetual harvest growers or super northern latitude outdoor growing is the only scenarios that autos would seemingly have an advantage IMO

    Autos have taught me how important the first month of growth is. I actually increased yields on my photos. All from paying more attention and care in the first month. I would like to see pigeons do a guerrilla grow with autos. Autos show sex early so we pollinate before putting outdoors. I got an auto just into flower. It trained out nice. 36 days before it showed sex. I lst it then pull back lights to get some stretch in flower. I only have a 2x4 and only 2 foot of height max for veg. Around 440 watts but have next 2 photos vegging and clone collection in veg also. I buy cheap auto seeds from happy bird seeds. We are still growing ultimate purple autos after 3 years. We are gonna run a bunch of different autos this summer in our medicinal.

    I wholeheartedly disagree with pigeons on the autos. Growing a auto if you don't know what you're doing it is so easy to stress that plant out cause it to flip super early and be a complete waste. Auto plants are so much more finicky when it comes to water and nutrient inputs. At least with a photo you have time to solve issues while you're still in veg.

    Growers harvest early or in some cases snip off a bud or two a lil over five weeks in bloom is because they don’t have stash.
    In other words, if a grower has stash then he/she will run the plant (even fast finishing ones) 52 days at the minimum.
    Also, getting more than 13 hours of darkness outdoor will expedite the flowering time by about a week and a half or more.
    No 🧢 Growmies- 😂
