- A little over 50 years, KVIA 7 (as KILT/KELP 13 when the station signed-on the air in 1956) have broadcasted in analog, along with the other television stations in the El Paso area.
Now today, June 12, 2009, KVIA, as well as many other Television Stations across the country will shut down their analog tier, and broadcast only in digital.
Station Chief Engineer Elias Ventanilla, pulled the plug (pushed the button in their case) at 12 : 33 P.M. MDT. And just like that, Analog TV is history.
R.I.P. Analog. You've served us well over the years.

Let's Do It!
Just came across this video again, great to see it again -- I wonder where Abe Lubekin and Bob Harp are today though... Oh and since 2009 KVIA has moved to physical channel 17 UHF.

Three channels known as ABC7… great.
4-KGO
5-WXYZ
@@m.a.d.a.m.e.m.a.r.i I already found out there were more.
The most normal channel number for an ABC O&O TV station is 7, like NBC's 4 or CBS' 2 (all aligned with their NYC and LA flagship stations, the ones that have W or K + the network's initials).
There's no "normal number" for Fox or CW O&O's (there's no PBS O&O as they're a "confederation of owners").
My ABC station, WABC, shares the same channel number as this one!
WELL THERE'S MORE THAN 2 OF THEM
The Weather Channel Nashville twcfan Jake Oldham Make 3

nice!
What would be really cool would be if someone had the video of the frequency switch in 1981...until 1981, KVIA was channel 13 and KCOS (El Paso's PBS station) was channel 7 😊 They had a big to do broadcast like this. I think Stanley Marsh 3 (of Amarillo) still owned the station then.
12:34 PM
what???? RED ABC 7 ?????
That's to distinguish the El Paso outfit from other ABC 7's.
