    I've never seen anything more satisying than your reaction to when you (and Ken) finally fixed the audio of this masterpiece from Yu Suzuki & Toshihiro Nagoshi themselves. I remember our Fuddruckers had the upright version of this but the background music was completely absent... and this might have been why. Without music both this and the sequel feel a bit empty.

    Well that was very entertaining. Thanks for the comlpliment on not seeing my rework. My SOP is no visible signs of anything done. As factory original as possible.

    After rebuilding my Daytona, removing the pedals is the best solution.

      I thought about it but decided against it since I was only dealing with the one pcb. If I was doing a full rebuild then yeah definitely the best way to go.

    Never seen anyone go deep into a Daytona USA unit Mike. I gotta admit it's really interesting to see. Thank you for sharing this Mike, this made my night for sure. 8^)

    Nice work. But I highly suggest you periodically clean your boards and fans. All that dust and dirt can't be good for your components. I've heard stories of chips overheating and failing because of the amount of dust ontop of them.
    Besides that, great work. Glad it's running again.

    Awesome! Glad to see I was right. I had a similar issue with my Daytona twin-and-a-half, but I just bought a new sound board because it was cheaper than shipping it off to Ken for repair. Now I'm pretty sure I just need a mixer, and all 3 Daytona's will be up and running. Now, if I could just fix the monitor on my Galaga cab. Then again, I play all of my games blind anyway, so to me, fixing the monitor really wouldn't accomplish much.

    12:30 lol. that's a common trick by repairers to gain your confidence. They tell you to swap a part that's in a socket (in this case the ONLY chip in a socket other than the ROMs) and you think they are a good guy so when that doesn't work (and the guy knew it would not fix it) then you sent it off for repair and that guy makes money with an easy fix lol. Read my other comment here for the real cause of all the problems on these boards.

      @@mike7599 hi Mike I have Sega Rally twin the wheel O. The right side when the race starts I hold the wheel straight but the force feedback keeps pulling me to the left. And when I select Lancia MT on the right it won't let me so thats what needs to be fixed?

      And if you find a Sega Rally 1995 board on eBay,. Order it and see it fits into DAYTONA USA? (set the board to single) have one side Daytona other side Sega Rally) and upload a video of you playing Sega Rally on Daytona USA. I'd be happy to see it please.? 🕹️🐈😄

    How much did it cost to have that sound board sent out? I’m having similar issues with my Daytona 2

  • @g4z-kb7ct
    @g4z-kb7ct 2 месяца назад

    I've fixed over 500 of those boards (yes really). They all have the same general fault. Think about it.... your board was covered in literal *crap* and you wonder why it stops working??? lol. After years of abuse they all develop random broken connections due to the dust and crap sucking up moisture from the air and you get those areas corroding and then you get open connections. I had so many of these to repair that I fully reverse-engineered the whole board and made a proper schematic and I even re-produced the boards new.... a rotten board can be fixed but it will fail again somewhere else. btw, the thing you're calling a 'schematic' is just a very simple wiring harness diagram lol. The sound board issue is the LEAST of your problems. That's the kind of fault you want but even having the repro sound board won't help.... the real problem with Daytona is exactly the same as the sound boards..... random corrosion causing random broken traces or open vias at random locations. But Daytona is 10X worse since there are 2 large multi-layer boards plus ROM board and comm board. Eventually all Daytona boards will be dead due to the extreme amount of time it takes to find those open connections because no one is going to pay a professional repairer for tens or hundreds of hours to fix them. These are the types of faults that only a person who owns the game can do over a long period of time. Better get used to it as you're going to be doing it yourself eventually.....

    Couldn't just split off the other sound board RCA run to both

    • @mike7599
      @mike7599  4 года назад +1

      Joseph Brown I wish! It has its own independent sound system for each side. Technically this is 2 arcade machines (you could split them up if wanted for a single player cabinet). So basically if I did that I’d be hearing all the sound effects from the left side coming out of the right side speakers.

    • @josephbrown7688
      @josephbrown7688 4 года назад +2

      Wasn't thinking about driver ones sound effects. Figure music on would be good enough. Great work I'm just getting ready to start collecting.. been watching your channel and another for pointers.

    I hate to be the one to point this out, but you do know there is a rear access panel that would save you a lot of grief don't you?

    • @mike7599
      @mike7599  3 года назад

      Rear access panel only gets you behind the pedal mechanism. No access to circuit boards from there.
