Eye Surgeons use both hands and feet to perform microsurgery on the eye. While the hands control micro-instruments, the feet control the robotic microscope and cataract machinery. The hands and feet must work in unison to perform a cataract surgery as gracefully as a beautifully orchestrated dance.
To be able to feel the nuance of each of the foot pedals, most cataract surgeons remove large shoes so to better be able to palpate the buttons of the foot joysticks below.
