The fact Rick finally acconplished his real goal this past week only to face down The Doctor in the coming weeks is hilariously coincidental.
What was his real goal? (I fell out of loop with the show awhile back but I'm not mad about spoilers)

I honestly think the biggest thing Rick has against him is that he has so many cybernetic implants that the doctor could potentially exploit with his sonic
This is one of those... theme'd fights, and not a balanced fight.
Then he could remove them by doing the chest burst thing, which also removes all of his implants and makes him weaker.
Loads of enemies of the Doctor negate his sonic with deadlocks. Rick could figure out deadlocks if the zoltarians can.
@@lightfaster but another weakness Rick has is having no immunity to mental attacks. Yes he broke out of them but still is super susceptible.
Ex. He got turned mentally stupid when boarding a ship.
He was given false memories of ‘friends’
Being trapped by a guy who sucks cliffhangers or whatever. (The story gimmick episode)
And getting his mind read.
Honestly I think Rick’s emotional instability could be his downfall. The Doctor isn’t above exploiting that.

@@smashmaster2000 Microverse, technically, which is an important distinction. And The Doctor's vehicle contains a pocket dimension which is a very similar concept. He didn't create it himself but his people did, and he's very familiar with using such advanced technology.

One thing to keep in mind is that, based on research I did, Rick and his variants sealed off every universe where he wasn’t smarter than everyone else, so the Doctor could genuinely give him trouble. Plus, a key difference between the two of them is that the Doctor is sober.
Also the Doctor has centuries more experience and at times has Chessmaster tendencies.

Reminds me of when Rick lost to Morty in checkers that one time but wiped his memory. The Doctor got the Cybercontroller to believe he was about to win while playing chess to determine the controller of his brain.

The Doctor is very Ruthless. With the stuff they have done, you'd wish they would just kill you... Examples of Fates worse than death include Being trapped in a mirror, trapped as a scarecrow, Trapped in a slab of concrete, your brain exposed with a snap of a finger, Trapped in a time loop, trapped on a floating rock in space, pushed into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy, wrapped in unbreakable chains at the heart of a dwarf star. Too much Time Lord knowledge for a human brain to handle, if The Doctor didn't wipe the memory your head would explode.
The Doctor is normally a pretty chill guy, but if you actually find a way to manage to piss him off, he will find all new definitions of eternal suffering to put you through. The stuck in a mirror's reflection for all time is particularly brutal, because the gap between your prison & your freedom is light refracting.

Death battle remove all morals and rules during fights. The doctor with no rules about killing or about following the laws of time is terrifying, he'll probably rip the universe in half

This battle would be perfect if they have the fight across several dimensions, literally. Like they fight in an animated version, a real-life version, a pixel art version etc.
Have Fabersoul animate it. He honestly has a REALLY good grasp on Rick and Morty.
This is one hell of a forgone collusion when not only is Rick being put up against a guy that fights things that would fit well in the Cthulhu Mythos every season, but he just lost to cybernetics and robots that would fit in well to the MCU in his own show's most recent episode. It's like the scientist version of Homelander vs Omni-Man
The main three advantages for the doctor here is that
A: he is smarter. Rick's biggest advantage ANYWHERE, and he is outclassed here. The doctor thinks so fast that he literally sees the world in slow motion sometimes, he also knows how to create the reality bomb amongst other things (I don't think he'll actually use the reality bomb in this fight or it's an immediate stomp but it's a huge IQ feat)
B: his spaceship is superior. Much more durable, much more he can do with it. Rick's has more conventional weapons (lasers and blasters and stuff) but the doctor literally has the heart of the TARDIS which, when used, could take out the phoenix in a single thought
C: Rick's emotional issues. I saw someone point out that the doctor will likely manipulate Rick into taking his own life at the end of the fight and I strongly believe he has the potential to. The doctor once manipulated someone into genocide
I imagine Rick's weaponry would be able to 2-shot The Doctor before he would be able to do anything, but that would not make for an exciting death battle. Once The Doctor makes it to the Tardis it's over for Rick.
@@FlourishPorridge The odds of Rick doing that are unlikely for a Death Battle though, especially considering how the doctor can prelong a regeneration if he needs to, or use the regeneration energy as a weapon.... but who knows, it'll be exciting to watch nonetheless

@@FlourishPorridge Rick sends the Tardis to another world The Doctor can't reach via his portal gun, boom, no more Tardis. The Doctor needs his Tardis to travel through time and space, so there is no way for him to reach it if Rick just gets rid of it.

Rick makes Boomstick look like the picture of sobriety. A real test of Rick’s intelligence is finding a way to permanently kill a Time Lord.
Trick question. Unless Rick knows to attack the Doctor while he's regenerating, like in The Impossible Astronaut, it will be hard to put the Doctor down for good.
The antagonist Rick recently killed Uncle Slo all across the multiverse is S7 E5... I feel like Rick wins this one...
@@yatharthagarwal99 Here's the thing though, that was a massive deal to Rick. The Doctor fights creatures like that a couple times a season.
There have been ways to permanently kill a Time Lord. Like when the 11th Doctor was poisoned with a way to override his regeneration, or when Rasillion threatened to kill the 12th Doctor by shooting him to death "until all of his regenerations run out". The Doctor finds a way around it.

As I said in the previous Death Battle, good luck trying to quantify all those sci-fi shenanigans.
Also, my money's on the Doctor due to the sheer breadth of the lore he has behind him. Also the fact that Doctor Who often seems like a sci-fi parody written by Monty Python that just kind of forgot to end.

Douglas Adams was a writer for Doctor Who early in the show's seasons. Probably gave it that tone for a while.
Speaking as a big fan of both, The Doctor has better and more consistent feats. Rick has fought plenty of things on the level of The Doctor's foes, but the difference is that Rick often struggles or just loses when he gets to that level, whereas The Doctor almost always has the situation under control the whole time no matter what it is. The only real advantage Rick has is that he does actual fistfighting more often and The Doctor is unwilling to use guns of any kind, but I'm not sure that matters much here.
I swear if Rick beats The Doctor on the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who. This would be the equivalent to Ben 10 vs Hal Jordan.

@@princefreddo5044 The regeneration is an automatic process that happens when he receives fatal damage, and it essentially reboots his psyche as well as his body. It also causes him to explode while regenerating which can be used to protect himself during the process.

No if Timeless Child is immortal than Rick is also immortal since when he dies he is automatically revived in another dimension from another ricks clone tank. They will most likely disregard these aspects otherwise the battle has no end.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about the result, but I think that whatever happens, the Doctor does *NOT* lose to any time/dimensional shenanigans. Not outright at least.

All of the crazy things Rick has done requires prep time which he won’t have in death battle. The doctor regularly beats enemies on the same twists ricks villains but without prep time.

This might go down in history as one of the craziest Death Battles I've seen this season.
When i start watching char recap knowing Rick i was like "pffft and who is going to even try to beat him🙄" and then.. and then i saw doctor and i was nope, no chance! I refuse to believe someone like doctor may loose, a person whos 'name' can stop entire invasion.
Man, I genuinely can't say who would win this. Could this be a rare tie?
I mean, the canonical most dangerous being in half the multiverse vs a literal immortal that can hop through time like crossing the street.
Rick has experience with time travel (even though the writers only ever used it once or twice to avoid confusing plot problems). He should be able to keep up in that field. Not to mention that even if The Doctor is immortal, Rick has plenty of ways to end the fight. I know the show is called “Death” Battle, but hey, this is Rick Sanchez. He’s cool with taking shortcuts and cutting corners. If he can’t kill The Doctor, he’ll probably settle for turning him into a pickle or something.
Problem isn't just that The Dr is Immortal, it's that he has mastery over time and space, is considerably more intelligent then Rick, who has been beaten even in his own verse by people smarter then him. Like this is a extremely lopsided fight in favor of The Dr@@rodrickgoldberg2324 I'm curious how they are going to play it out, as The Dr is one of the scariest things out there when you remove all limiters.

This will be a fascinating battle I've seen both shows and I can tell you this is going to be one of those instances we're both the players in the fight are going to be playing some kind of game of 5D chess against each other constantly trying to outdo the other.
As for who I think will win maybe the doctor he has more experience and he's also willing to work with past versions of himself where in Rick most likely will not work with himself and most likely other Rick's will try to betray him or Rick will think the other is trying to betray him and backstab him causing his own self-doubt to beat him
The inclusion of Rick’s Space Cruiser gives me hope that we’ll see at least 1 dogfight in this episode
That'll be Rick's advantage. The Space Cruiser is equipped for a dog fight. Even though there have been TARDIS'es that have been equipped with weapons. The Doctor's TARDIS doesn't have any weapons. In fact, it had problems racing with an average car on the streets.

@@demons27 Later on, said Tardis with the same Doctor (10th Doctor) pulled the Earth at millions of times the speed of light (low estimate) back to its original orbit in the solarsystem. You could say like in real life aviation the Tardis has a minimum speed problem where a plane going too slow (like 70 mph) will crash even if its top speed is faster than sound.
Sounds all like things the Doctor has fought before.
He's taken down a family of immortals.
He's battled aliens who make you forget they exist when you are not looking at them.
He's fought aliens with high tech weapons of course.
Yadda yadda etc.
Idk who wins, that just seems to be where they are going with this. It's strange that they would pick those things to talk about.
With how much they can do, makes sense to bring those up to later point out how the doctor has already been in these scenarios and stomped. Though honestly, they didn't have much choice. If they're including the 60 years of comics, dramas, books, etc, there aren't many feats you can give Rick that the Doctor hasn't specifically done before. Not many options, there's just so many thousands upon thousands of adventures the doctor's been on. And the few adventures The Doctor hasn't done weren't really from a lack of capability, more a lack of desire. But you get him mad enough, genocide and destruction on any scale are readily possible, even if he has to kill himself and come back as someone willing to get the job done.
That was honestly the best ad transition I've ever heard. I was dumbstruck and impressed enough that I went through and listened to the ad. If there was ever an ad transition that earned a listen for the ad, it was that one.
God I hope The Doctor wins this. Doctor Who is my favorite show ever.

I have to say props to the team for being able to cover up to knowing about "Air Force Wong" plus this preview not specifically going into detail about the backstory and story of Rick C-137 since yeah after last night's episode that would need to be rewritten... man wonder if the upcoming DB of Rick vs the Doctor will be on that sort of blood visercial level we just got in Rick's last battle last episode.
It won't count since it takes months to do a Deathbattle. Probably up to Season 6, they'll count. I'm guessing for The Doctor, they'll use the 14th Doctor image-wise. I'm betting up to the 13th Doctor will be used. That'll be a problem for Rick thanks to a little thing called "The Timeless Child". (Basically, a continuity device introduced that The Doctor has infinite regenerations).
I dont think anything needs to be rewritten because the new episode doesnt reveal anything that would tip the odds in rick's favor, the omega device could probably kill the doctor but it seems pretty evident that rick cannot build it without prior prep time
@@Vapor817 I mean technically Rick and can go pretty much anywhere in the multiverse with his portal gun so in theory he could try stealing back the Omega device from Evil Morty if there was no other way but I doubt they'll go in that direction.
Though I was talking more backstory wise in terms of explaining the character. Because if they are focusing on C-137 that would include his origin story and goals so it would be wierd having it end with "Rick is still out for revenge on his prime self" when we just saw him get that.

I just realized that Rick is kind of like Wiz and Boomstick combined.
I think on paper the doctor might have the edge. but Rick has plans in case of his demise.
-a gun (shown) to create a clone of him on the spot
-he has had cloning chambers where his subconscious is put in them in case of death (though he did destroy those but has shown it can be transferred in another universe's rick's clone lab)
-under certain circumstances can mindswap (he did it in season 3 premiere (maybe 4th season)
-has shown to heal (newest episode had his innards spewing out. he just stuffed them back in and his body healed
Not saying he is immortal but he has several ways to not die.
I just gotta point out the TARDIS doesn't have ai, it has a soul, it's a literal sentient lifeform. Not a machine but grown.

Rick turned some random trash in his garage into a spaceship that can move faster than light using concentrated dark matter, has the best defense system in the universe, runs on a battery containing an entire universe, and is completely sentient and even capable of feeling emotion, and capable of taking over other living things. He’s simply built different
The Doctor built a new model of the most powerful multitool in their universe - a Sonic Screwdriver - out of literal scrap metal, not even somewhere they'd been before.

And let's not get into the past clashes with the Daleks - which themselves are an immensely powerful race, capable of building technology that can erase _all_ realities simultaneously.
The Doctor drove that race to near-extinction with a single act to end a war that'd already seen entire planets blinked out of existence in seconds. The Time Lords, an immensely powerful race in their own right due to their Regenerative capabilities, access to time travel so perfect that dead soldiers could be seamlessly pulled from the moments of their deaths and sent back into combat, and weapons capable of blinking whole worlds out of existence all but _lost_ a war spanning the entire universe, from beginning to end, to the Daleks.
A war The Doctor singlehandedly ended with one move that drove the Daleks fo near extinction.
Even when the Daleks engineered a _perfect_ plan to erase everything but themselves - developed a weapon capable of ending not just one universe, but all of them - with such a powerful detonation that stars could be seen going out as a direct result of it _before the weapon was even used._
27 planets ripped from time and space and placed in one corner of the universe, acting as nothing but fuel for this weapon that'd erase all realities and leave nothing but them.

In regards to feats, The Doctor outshines Rick in a lot of areas.

At first glance I’d say Rick for the win given that he’s a lot more violent with a lot more creative weapons for such purposes, but I would also argue that sheer amount of lore surrounding the Doctor, his tendency to hold back against most of his opponents, his age/experience and his pure intelligence makes me think that whatever happens, it won’t be one sided by any means.

oh geez. they gave him the Meseeks box and the Clones. that might lead to a similar opening to Lex vs. Doom.
now, Rick obviously has the edge in versatility, and i doubt the Doctor can disable all of his vast arsenal of gadgets. Not to mention his paranoia has led to him creating a plan for pretty much a variety of scenarios. So this might actually be a close fight, and not the sweep everyone says it is.
Operation Phoenix, android decoys, chestbursting clones, Rick must be very paranoid.
Ricks gonna win. He literally has so many ways of returning from the dead as himself, up to and including the clones of of different version himself inside of Project Phoenix pods across the infinite multiverse for his mind to inhabit. The Doctor though only has so many regenerations, end even then, they tend to forget a few things, at least at first.
The Doctor is just too strong for Rick and smarter.
Infinite regeneration, and Rick has no way to kill him.

dont forget rick has clones of himself and a prohram called operation pheonix (something on that line) where his consciousness transfer to that clone upon death and he can access his multiversal counterparts clones to come back if he runs out of clones in his universe
Rick's advantage stands in his personality and his ingenuity. But the doctor holds the advantage in experience, biology and technology, especially with tools such as the Sonic screwdriver. We also need to remember that Rick doesn't usually resort to time travel while the doctor literally lives in the time vortex. All things considered, I'm convinced that this battle can really go either way, especially if we take into account regeneration
Really all depends on how much of the media they include. If the doctor gets all 60 years of comics, radio dramas, books, etc the he really does have a counter to everything rick can do, things really pile up over the decades.
A few more advantages Rick has over the Doctor is his obscene pain tolerance, his ability to recover from wounds that would force the Doctor to regenerate, his ability to repair damage to himself on the fly, and the massive advantage his Cybernetics give him in terms of strength and speed.
Might not be enough with that Sonic Screwdriver potentially messing with Ricks tech but it's certainly worth mentioning.

The Doctor could win with just two uses of the Sonic screwdriver.
First one to just scan Rick.
Second one to disable all of his cybernetics. Immediately, that totally cripples Rick - both arms and legs immediately become useless, he's blinded in his left eye, and that's a generous estimate.
It's entirely possible that his organs would all just shut down, too.

Excited to see Rick Sanchez here. Though I’m cautious, because almost everyone says the other guy is gonna win, which kinda turns me off, cause I have zero knowledge on this doctor and I’ve never seen his show. Can’t root for someone I don’t know.

The doctor doesn’t stand a chance, Rick doesn’t bother with time travel because he finds it “boring” and “lazy”. He would rather go out of his way to hop parallel universes to avoid going back in time to change things.

Rick gets mogged in any universe that isnt his, his abilities are more or less toon force gag powers but with “sci fi” stuff, and he gets his ass beat by people like mr nimbus or joke threats all the time lol.

Dont forget the citadel of ricks, Him fighting zeus in hand to hand combat, and outsmarting/beating a 4th dimensional time cop while his entire timeline was collapsing.
He also has 2 different fail safes where his mind gets uploaded to a different body if he dies and he can just switch universes whenever he pleases
Time lords can travel to different dimensions too although it is not explored much. The doctor has defeated 4 th dimensional beings capable of devouring infinite number of multiverses. The 8th doctor in comics took in the power of the Tardis and rewrote the entire history of the universe. He might have killed the devil. With the changes and retcon brought by the timeless child he no longer dies since he is the source of regeneration not just some time lord who copied an inferior version. The Tardis can project a sheild on the doctor that Rick shouldnt be able to get through.
This could be interesting. I'm curious how they'll start out. Are they going to start with the first Doctor (The 60s version) or the "first" that was added in the more recent shows and go up from there? Rick will have a very hard time if/when we get around Ecklestein's/the War Doctor.

Biggest Question I have for who would win is: How would Rick deal with The Doctor's screwdriver? It can hack anything and the doctor can have multiple versions of himself and instantly scan his entire body's mods over millennia in a moment. Say the 1st doctor and 13th doctor are in the same room and the first doctor starts a scan on Rick. Instantly the 13th has full knowledge of all Rick's capabilities.
OMG, he could literally dissemble Rick's Cyborg enhancements. Because first and foremost of it's many bull-crap uses, it's a screwdriver first.
Don't get me wrong, Rick is good and can be a force to be reckoned with.. But The Doctor has just been around for decades and faces people like Rick on a tuesday...

Do you know of something called Minecraft Manhunt? The fight will probably look a lot like that because if we assume both combatants have standard equipment, Rick has guns, space car, etc. The Doctor has the tardis, sonic screwdriver, and psychic paper... not really packin much heat ya know? But the Tardis can tank essentially anything Rick can throw at it while the shields are up as well as protect against any time shenanigans Rick might try. The Doctor would do what he's known for: Run! While running he will visit his past and future throughout time and space trying to get something that will stop Rick. If Rick wants to deny the Doctor a chance to prepare/find something that will tilt the scales, he'd have to chase him across time and space, possibly the multiverse too. But Rick would have to grab better time travel stuff real quick but because of the nature of time travel chases, thus the Doctor would have a head start. If other comments haven't made it clear, the Doctor with prep time wins so the fight is really him running away trying to prepare mid-fight while Rick tries to stop him.

When it comes to achievements, the Doctor far surpass Rick, but a fight to the death is exactly the thing in which Rick is way much better than the Doctor.

His screw driver can do a lot of things and its one of his impressive techs he has other than the Tardis
Considering what the Doctor has done, I'd say sonic scrambling of your molecules is something Rick would rather deal with than whatever it is the Doctor has done to several beings.
Considering that Running away, wiping his own memory and living a new boringish life was his definition of "kind" towards a family of life draining aliens that were mercilessly hunting him down, I'd say that if Rick had ever been called a demon before, he'd be wise to run when a good man goes to war.
Plus, some incarnations of the Doctor were more adapted to combat than others, so if they bring in his various regenerations, the like of the 3rd and War Doctors probably would be so hesitant to deliver a killing blow. And that's not even mentioning whatever kind of people the doctor would be collecting debts from.

When Betterhelp is done with Rick, they're the ones who are going to need some help.
I think rick will lose but the Doctor will make Rick finally fully come to terms with his emotions and grief, making it a satisfying death.
Good point. That means the Doctor should win, easily. It's not because of his supernatural abilities on top of his tech. It's because his weapon of choice is superbly effective against Rick: talking. Rick and all his emotional issues is vulnerable to the Doctor's deadly gift of gab.

This is the same argument i saw in link vs cloud. Link had 20 ways of becoming invulnerable to damage but since death battle didnt want that they disregarded it. They have and will disregard certain abilities in this case i doubt they would allow Rick infinite do overs in the same way they will not allow the Timeless child retcon keep doctor from dieing.
@wiredcoffee9347 Those are two completely different things though. One of those is something that Rick just has in his tool belt and the other is some other character coming in and helping him. And theirs no way they just ignored a bunch of Link stuff because "they didn't feel like it".

I had some hopes, some time back, we'd see Rick Sanchez fight someone like Nathaniel Richards from Marvel (aka Kang the Conquerer, aka He Who Remains, aka Ramses, aka Victor Timely, aka Iron Lad, etc) -- it would be fun to see two characters known for creating trouble with infinite versions of themselves across their respective multiverses going at each other... although, truth be told, both are their own worst enemy, so the fight could get really crazy, really fast.
