thanks . selling a miller bobcat 225 today in about 1 hour that i bought 1 year ago with 260 hrs on it i put 8 hrs on it to realize this is not the welder 4 me lol. it only welds on one pole instead of 4 poles not at all the arc im looking 4. its a good farm ---bush machine oh well live and learn.have a good day.
Nice job! I'd like to think that I would do it the same way .just 1 question, meaning no disrespect to anyone... but how can they build a rig like that and not have a great welder already on there crew?
That is a nice job. That was busted as f*ck and you fixed it really well! I see that you are good at repair welding along with many other things. I hope then lads bought you a beer because I know that repair lasted. I bet you weld for them on their at the track repairs in the future! I will bet those welds against bolt. That is likely stronger than new! Great work bravo. If someone says they could have done better I say drag out the leads and show me.
Frankly they didn't give a shit. I just talked to them the other day and funnily enough that axle is still going strong and so they decided to do it to all their axles, minus welding the bolts in.
Bruce Kennedy I was thinking the same thing. I'm not by any stretch an expert in this area, (but I'm not without some experience with heavy equipment ) but it seems to me that this weak point in the original design was intentional for that very reason. But I guess you and I are in the same boat... we don't have " too much money!" Who else can afford this shit? Speaking only for myself, I'm have so little money, I can barely pay attention to the fact that Monster Trucks exist! After seeing one of these flatten a car 40 or 50 years ago, I lost any interest in the "sport" or it's hype. All that said, it's nice to see what I can get away with welding wise on the job should I ever run into something similar on the job! Cheers!
I would like to amend part of my earlier comment. When I watched this video the first time earlier today, I had no audio. But, now I understand these guys had a show to do that evening and that makes ALL the difference in the world! Very professional of the truck team to do whatever it takes to make the show go on! Being in the entertainment industry myself I've seen first hand people take big financial losses and sometimes physical/emotional pain to "give the ticket holders" their monies worth! Additionally, I'm very impressed with Doug! What a good shit! Not only is he an artist in his vocation, but he comes across as a real straight shooter. Wish I knew more guys like him! Cheers!
I'm wondering how that one person disliked this video because this is fucking awesome
I thought you would like it .It was fun and a bit of a challenge and a time frame...and thank you.
You also inspired me to start welding myself even though I am 10... With the help of my dad and his friend
Great video and superior workmanship
Thank you John it was a fun day

Sorry to hear your rig got burned in that fire. That was a hell of a crisis. Glad to hear you're back up and running.

Curiosity , what rods did you use?
Looking forward to seeing part 2.
Not often I get to see a monster truck worked on .

The coolest welder on you tube! Watching ur vids reminds me of growing up in my dirtbike racing/snowboarding days! ✊️🤘🏻👍
What part of CA do you work?
Thank you. Alberta of course. Where are the Canadian welders are.
Watch Part 2 here: ruclips.net/video/n3A3twj_3_I/видео.html
Did you ever find out if he replaced the axle? Or is it still going?!🤣
I have watched a few of your vids now....I'm subbing.
wicked thank you!
Next time show a close up on the weld looks. Like a nice weld
Nice job! Proper grafter there
Welding on a axle nice 🙂
Wearing helmet when watching to avoid weld
Hell of a weld !
Thank you
Is the missing bolt holding up the jack stand?
I bet Sumbitch wont break again
That will hold long after that’s in the dump
Thats Clean!!
Why wouldnt you use strigers? They hold up far better than weaves; Thats why you use em for dynamic loads
Roman Hamm stringers do help with grain structure. But some times you really need heat input. But as you can see in next video she held.
what kind of electrode do you use. is it 7018 or 85.58 or ????
GP13:Haajencity 7018
How much does it cost to weld a frame/body for the monster trucks?
Memester96 the more horsepower you have the higher the price.
HellNBack let’s say like a basic around 600 horsepower engine something cheaper or how much is the frame and stuff alone without the engine tires etc
Did you stick weld that whole weld?
Did you see me use anything else? Yep I did.
So in the long run if they need to replace the front end they must replace entire axle now? Or plasma cut your work and replace the bad end?
Frankly they didn't give a shit. I just talked to them the other day and funnily enough that axle is still going strong and so they decided to do it to all their axles, minus welding the bolts in.

In the Part 2 video you can see we were wrapping up just as they had to go line the trucks up for the show.
You can also see the moment when they landed hard on that side and I got to see if my work held up. ruclips.net/video/n3A3twj_3_I/видео.html
Btw, what tool was that you were using to bevel with?
A die grinder
Most bad as welder on the planet
