Masaman not all Indians are bad. There are good and bad in all races and people. I guess the media is very good at showing the worst of any country culture traditions etc of non white peoples. But sometimes people of colour don't help the situation by upholding the racist stereotypes placed upon them by acting out evils upon one another.

Here's an interesting story for you. I'm from Kerala and I did my Engineering in Tumkur, Karnataka. There was a store owner right in front of a popular college in the city and he used proudly announce to every Malayali student that there is this dam in Idukki built by the Kannadigas!! But the dam was built with aids from the Govt of Canada and technical inputs from a Canadian private company. Even after showing him this on Wikipedia, he did not believe that it was Canada and not Kannadiga! This came to my mind all of a sudden when I saw Kannada and Canada in the same line :P

India is not like what outsiders think it is India is just like whole European countries together as one Every state there are different races, language, culture And under those states there are more different ethnic minority groups, It has around 1500 language and dialects and every Indian races are different from one another including their mindset and way of behaviour Its all united as one country
Agree with the European comparison. Europeans define themselves as one white race split up in different ethnicity. Its the same with India , same race different tribes.

Most Westerners don't realize that India is a complicated place. I lived there for well over a year living in the north and south . Cuisine changes a lot, but basic Hindi and English is spoken everywhere. India was one of the first civilizations to "urbanise" and even at the time of Buddha, India was very urbanized. India invented Zero and many other advanced mathematical ideas. It was NOT the Islamic people. They got it from the Indians through trade routes.
India was never a country until the British invented it. It’s like calling entire Europe a country, that’s what Britain did. Indian sub continent was controlled by many different empires. It was never a unified country until 1947
India wasn't even a country then. People never include Pakistan or Bangladesh when in fact the indus valley is literally mainly in Pakistan. And it was all kingdoms not "india"
What United India were the Dharmic religions. I am from a northern state and the earliest references for a local ancient temple are in texts from southern most part of India.
@@vcx666 \You are definitely correct. I visited many very ancient archealogical sites and Holy sites of great antiquity. Mostly Hindu of course, but Jain, and Buddhist too. From Lonavala just south of Bombay, to Badami, and Hampi in Karnataka. There is also anextremely ancient Holy cave, on the road between Chaggi Bank station in the Punjab, to Hmachal Pradesh. It's seen as mostlly a very early Buddhist cave, but a Hindu Sadhu has been living in it for a long time, and showing it to tourists. It's a nog semi-luxury cave with the river running by with clean water direct from the Himalayas. There really was a sense of an India, and Indian identity, right from ancient times. Just look at Nalanda.

Yes, pal. I'm with you. I can't fathom the state-wise divide that we Indians keep building and deepening within us. I've witnessed this in so many Indian communities in other countries as well. Why do we Indian people feel the need to proclaim our region-based superiority through denigrating and belittling others? India is diverse, as are its peoples and cultures. If south India can stake claim to gentler, simpler and more grounded people, northern and western Indians can rationalize our more direct and aggressive traits due to the centuries of wars and invasions that were inflicted on us by foreign invaders. Please remember that North and Western India is where most of the invaders came from for centuries into India and we were the ones who were looted, pillaged, killed, slaughtered, and often subjugated by these rulers for hundreds of years (e.g. the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Emperors). Just look at the warrior histories of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab and see how these peoples, and I count myself among them, have had to develop aggressive resilience to survive with our culture, religion and heritage intact over these centuries of attack. (BTW I am a proud Sikh women who was raised in Uttarakhand and now lives in USA). If we Indians are to truly realize and live with the idea of an undivided India which welcomes and embraces all of its diversity, we cannot have whole regions of the country vilified as I have seen in this comment section and, alas, all too often in millions of other forums. Can we not just talk about what is great about the regions we come from without feeling the need to also vilify other Indian regions as well as Indians we feel are different from us? Tearing each other down will get us nowhere. Peace and wellbeing to all.

Of course India is united. Just because there is occasional problems between religions or castes, does not mean the nation is divided. By your logic, US is not united either since there is constant conflicts between blacks and whites and hispanics.
95% of US is Christian and an equal number speak English as their first language. Pretty homogenous compared to India or EU if you ask me. Remember, second generation immigrants wherever their parents may come from, still speak English as their main language.
I did not say native tongue, I said their primary language which is English and this includes most hispanics and almost all second and above gen immigrants today. Tellling me that the US is as diverse as EU or India is a joke. Are you going to tell me that there are big groups or areas of Hispanics or other immigrants where Enlgish is not understood ? If you go to a small town in Europe, you will find just that. Also, if you go from one state to another in India, a large percentage of people won't be able to understand you well at all if you spoke in Hindi or English (common languages)..Christians make up 80% of US, with people putting "no religion" constituting 16% (but of this a large percentage 95% were born into Christian families, hence have a very good understanding of the basics of Christianity and its culture)

Why do we Indian people feel the need to proclaim our region-based superiority through denigrating and belittling other areas and peoples in our own country? India is diverse, as are its peoples and cultures. We might be able to explain some of this diversity if we look into our long history. If south India can stake claim to gentler, simpler and more grounded people, northern and western Indians can rationalize our more direct and aggressive traits due to the centuries of wars and invasions that were inflicted upon us by foreign invaders. Please remember that North and Western India is where most of the invaders came from for centuries into India and we were the ones who were looted, pillaged, killed, slaughtered, and often subjugated by these rulers for hundreds of years (e.g. the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Emperors before the British colonized India). Just look at the warrior histories of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab and see how these peoples, and I count myself among them, have had to develop aggressive resilience to survive with our culture, religion and heritage intact over these centuries of attack and foreigner rule. (BTW I am a proud Sikh women who was raised in Uttarakhand and now lives in USA). If we Indians are to truly realize and live with the vision of an undivided India which welcomes and embraces all of its diversity, we cannot have whole regions of the country vilified as I have seen in this comment section and, alas, all too often in millions of other forums. Can we not just talk about what is great about the specific Indian regions we come from without feeling the need to also vilify other Indian regions and different Indians? My vision of India is that of a truly unified, 21st century country which despite its colonial past and even longer history of being invaded and ruled by foreigners, is now marching with resilience, determination and strength towards a future full of hope and progress. A country where we can address issues of misogyny, patriarchy, gender violence, education, illiteracy, poverty, healthcare, water security, safe housing, employment, climate change, and so many more. It will be our commitment to finding common ground that will help us tackle these pressing problems. I sincerely believe that nothing is to be gained by constantly bickering amongst ourselves about who is better or worse. I hope to find more like-minded people here with the hope that we will soon all be united in our common hopes and aspirations for ALL of India and ALL Indians. Peace to all. Stay safe and healthy during this pandemic.
Your dream is never going to happen with BJP in power. I am a Hindu Keralite. If ever Yogi becomes PM of India, I will definitely support a separate Kerala or separate south India movement.
My Boyfriend is from Northern part of India. He is such a Nice guy and Loving guy. I didn't expect that Indians are really Loving People. Now I have Big Respect to Indians. ❤️ From Philippines🇵🇭
@bye girl what you say is true but all of them aren't like that. Just the poor ones that have to depend on old white dudes for money. Asian countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines are pretty famous for white sex pats.
Fun fact: northern India contributes the least to Indian economy excluding the country's capital (wherein it is migrants from parts outside north India that have more jobs). It is the least productive part of the country. It is the deccan and southern parts of India that contributes most to the Indian economy. However north India is the 'face' of India because they've always been dominating in population and are fairer/good-looking in the eyes of most people. They get to make the administrative decisions while south Indians have to feed them and in return they get nothing but discrimination. Northeast India is a whole different story - to many Indians they don't even exist, to the govt, it doesn't even exist, unless there's an election coming up in northeast.
Here comes the another south claiming false facts. North India is not just UP, Bihar. There are other states too that doing very well in terms of economy. Haryana is one of them. Every north state has it’s different languages and dialects just like south states. Stop generalizing us as one. Haryana feeds whole nation we r among top in agricultural production, Punjab too.
You sir are really giving a bad rep to south Indians. You don't feed us. The cities you talked about - Mumbai and Chennai have been port cities with more trade and investments since 1700s. It's basic geography kanglu. NE is just as important as any other Indian state. get out of your language cesspit and you'll know where you stand. Atleast northies know how to stick together and not fight over every little thing. You could learn that from us.

Afghanistan itself is diverse. North and Mid Afghanistan is Central Asian, South Afghanistan is Iranian. Pakistani provinces of KPK borders Afghanistan and has ethnic ties with Afghan Ethnicities. Pakistani province of Balochistan borders Iran and has ethnic ties with Iranian Ethnicities. Simple!
@@PockASqueeno Do you know Georgia and Armenia are in Asia? But due to their ethnic and religious ties with the Ethnicities of Europe they are accepted as European. Similarly, Pakistan as a nation is in Asia. On the basis of Ethnicities it has major linkage to South Asia (for Punjab and Sindh province), Central Asia (for GB and KPK province), Middle East (due to Balochistan, remember my Armenian and Georgian point here). If we follow the same formula as the (Armenian and Georgian) then Pakistan is Middle Eastern as well as Central Asian. we Indians don't have unity within ourselves, that is the major issue. As if you Southies are not racist. I am not racist to South Indian but my cousin sister has faced racism in Bangalore. And Southies who are lighter in color comes from upper caste and all the South Indian upper caste are actually decencents of North Indian Aryans who speak Dravidian language. That's the reason they look so different from most of Dravidians.
South Indian are so crazily obsessed about their language. It's fine to love your language but such obsession is unnecessary. You hate Hindi but have no problem to speak English which is also a Indo-European language like Hindi. And don't forget you hate each other too. Telugus hate Kannada, Kannada hate Tamil.
Dearest sister, the actual problem within us is that we only see wrong of others. They way you are biased towards this matter is very disappointing. We must learn that there are few who are talking shit from both sides, but also there are few who are trying to keep both sides united. In personal i have seen some racist northies and also some southies who play ugly racism and laugh on ugly insulting jokes about north indians whether it is funny or not, they laugh because insult of northies is very pleasing to them. But still we've got a bunch of moderates who still believe india is one and no matter how much we fight with each other. when situation persists, we will always fight for each other.
I loveI and respect India 🇮🇳 I came here to learn more about the history of India and guess what? I didn’t understand anything 😂. I have to ask my Indian friends. Greetings from 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia.

Fun Fact: Marco Polo said the far South of India was the only part of the world (he did not go to Africa) where the people thought darker skin was more beautiful than lighter skin. That's not the case any more, judging by the matrimonial adverts, where everyone claims that their daughter is "fair" or has a "wheatish" complexion.
Tbh when I was younger the first 2 girls I had crushes on were more brown skinned girls but now it's like I only like fair skin, it definitely is the media controlling our thoughts which sucks on so many levels
ik, he even said that people would try to artificially make their babies look darker to seem more beautiful. Shows that European ideologies have infiltrated the Indian pysche almost unbeknownst to the population
this was so great!! interesting to watch this after they are the most populous country in the world! really great to learn this stuff. I don’t know why but I didn’t even know that people from north india and south india genuinely come from a different people group entirely if you go back far enough. the differences make sense but all the mixing makes it so interesting. thank you Mason!
As an Indian I could tell you that all Indians from the south and the North have both dark and light skinned people. But forget about the skin color. We are all human beings living on this earth.
That's because Dravidians and Indo Arians mixed along those years. I didn't think there are many pure arians or dravidians exist in current India, that's why you get those different skin tones all over India.
@@ufukerdogan88 People like you are the reason people ultimately end up hating Indians. Your hatred runs so deep, you can't even accept people who are extending a hand for you. For every instance of terrorism you can point out in Iran, I can point out a related major crime from India (though most of these are with cybernukes, India has one of the highest rates of initiating cyber attacks and email phishing schemes in the world). The point is, at a PERSONAL level, people are generally the same, and there's no reason to hate someone you know nothing about just based on their ethnicity. So Indian is basically ethnically diverse as Africa and share from dark to light and different features and skin hues as well. You want to be amazed look at different tribes and ethnics of Africa it will blow your mind how one continent changes features.
The Caucasians (Europeans) created Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda, Africa, to divide and control the native population, and for this reason, the Rwanda Genocide occurred. The same attempts and inequalities Europeans also tried to create amongst Indians by separating Northern India and Southern India into "Aryans" VS "Dravidians" and further dividing Hinduism into 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes. And also read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who propagated the "Aryan Invasion" in Southern India to convert "Dravidians" into Christianity.
@human being According to Bhagavad Gita, anyone can be a Brahman (Teacher), Shatriya (Warrior), Vaishya (Trader), Shudra (Labor) based on knowledge and skills: 🔹In Bhagavad Gita 4:13, Krishna says that he created different Varnas (profession) on the basis of one's Karma (activity) and Guna (quality). 🔹Bhagavad Gita 5:18 "The truly learned, with the eyes of divine knowledge, see with equal vision a Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater" 🔹Bhagavad Gita 9:29 "I am equally disposed to all living entities: there is neither friend nor foe to Me: but those who with living sentiments render divotional service unto Me, such persons are in Me and I am in them." 🔹Bhagavad Gita 18:41 "The duties of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are distributed in accordance with their guṇas (quality) and not by birth. Caste is a Spanish and Portuguese word 'casta' which stands for 'Breed' or 'lineage'. During earlier times Caste use to be Varna (Profession) and based on merit and not by birth, I can give you instances from the ancient times, where a so-called modern day "lower caste" moved to "upper caste", e.g. Guru Valmiki, was from a shudra family but became a brahmin based on merit, etc and btw Ravana was himself a Brahmin knowledgeable person from Northern India but because of his notorious activities he got punished by Rama (believed to be an OBC if we abide by caste categorization), and the time was about 16000BCE-12209BCE

From karnataka .I love all states of india.

United? Hardly! Ethnic and religious conflicts abound in India.

Interesting. I realize Masaman has to be careful about the subject of his channel, because of the ethnic sensitivities in many parts of the world. This rather long comment is addressed to my fellow Indians. I can't fathom the state-wise divide that we Indians keep building and deepening within us. I've witnessed this in so many Indian communities in other countries as well.

Afghanistan is Central Asia, not the Middle East. Therefore, classifying Pakistan as Middle Eastern because it borders Afghanistan makes no sense.
Simple!
Zain Khalid “Middle East” is a geographical term, not an ethnic one.
@@PockASqueeno
Do you know Georgia and Armenia are in Asia? But due to their ethnic and religious ties with the Ethnicities of Europe they are accepted as European.
Similarly, Pakistan as a nation is in Asia. On the basis of Ethnicities it has major linkage to South Asia (for Punjab and Sindh province), Central Asia (for GB and KPK province), Middle East (due to Balochistan, remember my Armenian and Georgian point here).
If we follow the same formula as the (Armenian and Georgian) then Pakistan is Middle Eastern as well as Central Asian.
At this point, Even i don't know what I'm saying. 🤣
But, You can put Pakistan with either of these three Geographical regions.

@human being According to Bhagavad Gita, anyone can be a Brahman (Teacher), Shatriya (Warrior), Vaishya (Trader), Shudra (Labor) based on knowledge and skills:
🔹In Bhagavad Gita 4:13, Krishna says that he created different Varnas (profession) on the basis of one's Karma (activity) and Guna (quality).
🔹Bhagavad Gita 5:18 "The truly learned, with the eyes of divine knowledge, see with equal vision a Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater"
🔹Bhagavad Gita 9:29 "I am equally disposed to all living entities: there is neither friend nor foe to Me: but those who with living sentiments render divotional service unto Me, such persons are in Me and I am in them."
🔹Bhagavad Gita 18:41 "The duties of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are distributed in accordance with their guṇas (quality) and not by birth.
Guru Valmiki, was from a shudra family but became a brahmin based on merit, etc
and btw Ravana was himself a Brahmin knowledgeable person from Northern India but because of his notorious activities he got punished by Rama (believed to be an OBC if we abide by caste categorization), and the time was about 16000BCE-12209BCE
