It has the same engine as the Golf GTI and R but detuned. For the money of the Golf GTI you can buy this and tune the motor, new exhaust system, aftermarket LSD, new tyres and brakes. It will be like a Golf GTI but lighter and better.

This car is the perfect daily driver. Small enough to squeeze in the tightest parking lot. Fast enough to embarrass the majority of cars on the road. Spacious and comfortable enough for long trips. Fuel efficient (Thanks to the Budack cycle). The interior looks and feels amazing. Packed with latest tech options. Cherry on top, the powertrain. The EA888 gen 3b coupled with the DQ250 means you have endless potential if you like tuning your car. It's a perfect package.
@Car Crazy Guy SA Howzit bud. I own a prefacelift red Polo gti like the one in your pic. My statement on size was relative to tight parking lots. It is a decently sized car. Rear leg room is tight for me at 185cm. For most it's good. As for the R100k markup that most stealerships are adding onto the tag, that's ridiculous.
I still think the prefacelift looks way better than the facelift in this video. I feel the prefacelift has its own unique character, whereas the facelift is trying too hard to be a Golf.
I think it's the vocal minority. Just looking at the amount of views, and the sales figures tells another story. I think also, the pricing on ALL cars in SA is insane these days. Rising fuel costs. I must admit, I find it hard justifying the cost of most new vehicles these days
I haven't seen a fully spec polo gti close to 500k all are closer fully spec too 600k.. that puts it directly in competition with the Yaris GR base model range(single diff 4 wheel drive system but the same 200kw motor used in the Rally as Toyota doesn't offer as many options) it would be an interesting comparison money vs money
6 speed dq250 gearbox is better than the 7 speed dq381. Reason being 6 speed is advantageous in terms of speed , 7 speed is good but more for highways to save fuel. It's the exact same reason why used a 6 speed in a tcr than a 7 speed cause it holds more boost... To be frank they thought about us cause we south Africans like speed...
Hehe it’s quite pricey but then again it’s retail value proposition might be worth it. But then rather buy lovely preowned golf GTI and you get more value otherwise if we are buying cars over 300k then this seems logical ? Not sure
Main issue is... Does the light disappear when you use the indicator light? It's a rubbish trend with cars these day and no way will I pay 500k for car that has the light die on the side you're using the indicator light on.
@@davidelancellotti8796 yeah, but most of them can use the silly "import duties" argument for robbing the people. VW can't use that on this car, it's manufactured in SA. So other than blatant daylight robbery, there is no excuse to charge half a million for a car like that.
@@jyuvgrace5364 the not so fun fact is that here you are not charged for these taxes, like I asked my dealer the starting price is that but, for a customer a new car is worthless, dealers (al least honest ones) for this range of cars will prefer to sell used (and with used, I mean with like 100km or less) but way downpriced models. on this polo you could pay it like 20k€ while the price for the new car is 30k€

I wanted to upgrade to something "performance". But nah. Let's be honest... Most cars nowadays no longer make financial sense🤞🏾

With just a contact at your local township, you can get it at a fraction of the cost 😃

Where did you guys at Ignition see a new Polo GTI for R5OOK. Even the used ones are retailing at around R600K .
I think they are in EC that’s the only place that makes any sense

Too bad about that "high hijack risk" for the polo here in SA. Makes one think twice.
