Thanks for posting. I am from Cleveland Ohio. I have hiked all over Allegheny. Minister Creek one if my favorite hiking spots. Due to health I can no longer travel. I thought I would never see these trails again. What a treat. Thanks.
We’re doing this trail in two weeks! Watching all the videos on this trail. I hike with two dogs and it’s easy to just follow them and then realize you’re no longer on the trail! I just switched to a hammock because I can NOT sleep on the ground! Best decision I’ve made! I really enjoy all your videos. Thanks!
@@FrozensAdventures yeah I have the tensor and a Big Agnes tent that I love. But torture! Lol. Going out in the hammock. I think I’ll be warm enough now!
I'm from SW PA. Been hiking and fishing Minister Creek since I was a Wee Lad. Some great native brook trout waters, especially for the amount of foot traffic it receives. The dark blue mouths and colorful orange/red dots on these trout are magnificent. Even though most are small in size, you will catch one or two on your trip that tip the scales and make the trip worth while. I fish only barbless hooks and quickly release them all. I have better streams to fish for the native brook trout. But, the ones in this stream are so beautiful, if not small in size. The stream stays cold even in the dead of summer. Anyway, I will be heading here tomorrow for a solo one-nighter testing some ultralight gear. I'll post some pics to this page. Good luck and happy trails on your AT thru hike. Looking forward to seeing you summit Katahdin. Best Regards.
Hi Frozen, great timing! I'm heading out for my first backpacking trip at Minister Creek next weekend with a Cleveland area backpacking group. Thanks for giving me a great preview of what to expect.
Love it what a great time i had! that overlook rock Beautiful. You really did very to explain the sleeping bags and temp. Your Girlfriend is the best ,she is a hiker work that, water Filter like a pro. Her first time with you but she has been camping alot, yes. Well i thought she was cool and did'nt bitch about the rain. Man she's a real keeper. i could of watched the fish all day. Thank You so much for bringing us along! Great Vid. Joe
My wife and I along with another couple just did an overnight backpack trip there this weekend. We did the same route as you just in the opposite direction to save the overlook for last. What an awesome hike. Can't wait to go back. The messed up thing is I grew up literally 10 miles up the road from here and besides one trip when I was a lot younger, I never spent any time there. Now that I live an hour away I feel like I'll be there more often. Makes sense right!
Great trip and awesome video! I can’t believe you went back to a tent! Ground dwelling is so uncivilized! My wife won’t do a hammock either so I understand lol.
Great video. Nice to see a new hiker too. Keeping her load at 12 lbs. was a very good intro weight. A minor suggestion: pan side-to-side much slower with the camera. It's more visually appealing, especially with the dense detail in the forest.
Hey Frozen great video. The thing you saw with the Honda motor attached looks like a oil well pumper. Which means there is probably oil in them there hills [or was]. Keep up the good videos
+Outdoor Adventures take a look at the ANF on google maps and look at the parts of it they destroyed with those type of gas wells and the crazy maze of wells. I have a camp up there and cover a lot of miles deer and grouse hunting. They really destroyed a lot of forest with the gas wells. Great video.
charger7022 its a shame, a lot of northern PA is pretty destroyed from those gas wells, fracking and the oil pumps. I love just north of the ANF in NY. Luckily we banned stop hydro fracking in our state at least because they wanted to destroy some beautiful places in the southern tier
That little canyon part was amazing. Love your channel. I love audio books for driving, but never though of them for camping. Lighter than a book and I can listen without keeping my boyfriend up with my headlamp. There is no way I'd get out of the tent that early in the rain. I'm into hiding and hoping it will let up. Great video. Subbed. -Carley
I hadn't thought of audiobooks on the trail or at camp either before this channel, but it makes perfect sense, particularly when the cracks and rustles start to get the better of me. A little bit of calming audio to keep the old gears between the ears turning in the right direction. Shedding the weight of a book is definitely a plus.
Great video. You may have to be careful of your gear thou. Especially since now the girlfriend knows she likes the adventure. One of my first things to go was my favorite fleece jacket. Off course it was worth it and it looked a lot better on her then me. Have a great day, Al
Allegheny National Forest it was a beautiful place i'm going back there before winter I am hoping.... hope you both had a great time out there :) If you don't mind me asking what's the name of the trail you guy's camped at. Looks really amazing?
GREAT VIDEO ! I'M GLAD YOUR BESTEST FRIEND WENT ALONG WITH YOU .MAKES IT ALOT MORE FUN & SPECIAL. WILL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG WITH YOU BOTH. BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! SMILE! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS!
Great vid! Thanks for posting it. Do you recall where on the trail you were when you found the more ideal camp site? I'm considering doing this loop with my son in the spring and am really excited to find a great spot to overnight. Thanks for the beginner backpack series as well. I've learned a lot from those vids!
On another note, you should check out the Susquehanna trail system in Potter co....is one of my favorite places to hike, havent found many videos of it here on youtube.
Great Video! I also went on a 9.6 mile overnight trip with my wife last weekend. We focused more on enjoying the camping part rather than a long hike. Our video is only about 18 minutes long and we also have some footage of the North Country Trail in Northern Michigan. If you check it out you'll like it. Backpacking to Mirror Lake Porcupine Mountains Michigan Oct. 3rd @ 4th. You do a great job with your videos! A+ Thanks! Bob
OK. So to get to the rocks at the South Loop, you have to head back downhill, huh.? I took the Middle Loop path on the right to get to the Overlook. Spectacular view. How are the rock formations on the North Loop.?
Hoping you can confirm that the campsites are booked through ?camping road trip for Minister creek. Heading there in October and want to make sure I have a spot. You help is appreciated!
+Trail Cat it's first come first serve. No reservations required. Worse come to worse you can get on the NCT at the northern end and camp if everything is taken.
You need to invest in a GPS unit....also would be nice if you could post in description mileage for the day, gear used, and show more map views or where your hiking and at for the day...i live just east of this area and would love to get there and check it out sometime.
+Outdoor Adventures I think I mentioned this to u before. You should try the GAIA GPS app. It works the same as my friend's garmin Montana and more user friendly. I never get lost when I have enough juice on my smartphone.
+Zach Tan I actually have been using it for a few day hikes and for emergencies to try it out. I have a couple free months from buying quilts from enlightened equipment.
Poor Lindsey, looks like SHE'S frozen half the time. She looks like an old pro at all this. Overnight camping looks like WAY too much work. My idea of camping is the Hilton. I'll stick with long day hikes and head home afterward to my nice warm bed.
+THENEWWRANGLER The rag is called a Buff you can find them on amazon (www.amazon.com/gp/product//B00ESXU83Y/ref=twister_dp_update?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I use it to keept he sun off my head, ticks out of my hair, sweat out of my eyes, pre-filter dirty water, I use it as a bandana, or skull cap when it gets cold, it's also good as a make shift torniquet, or bandage if the need ever arose.
+dml505 I am wearing an Outdoor Research Helium jacket, it's been holding up great, super light and breathable and great for storms with a bit of cover above you. If you are looking at the Helium order 1 size up from your normal size as they run small. I don't usually wear rain pants but I do have some when the weather is expected to rain more than 1 day in a row. You can just go up to walmart and grab a $10 pair of running pants. But my normal hiking pants usually dry out pretty fast just from walking around. Check out frogs toggs or dry ducks on amazon if you are on a low budget, my buddy uses those and they haven't let him down yet. Just need to be careful as the material is really delicate.
+Outdoor Adventures hey thanks for the info, yes I have the frog togg I am looking into a better option so thanks for the tip..really like your videos thanks for taking us along I know the time involved
I don't think eating at camp is an issue...especially if you're just boiling water for dehydrated meals. If you're cooking meat and keeping a messy camp it might be more of an issue.
At the 26 minute mark with all the trees down,in the spring of 2015 a 15 y.o. girl was killed when one on those tree's fell on her tent, a micro burst came thru and knocked all the trees down,

I went to Minister Creek because of this video. Thanks for the inspiration. I drove all the way from Northern Indiana.
I'm from the UK but I've read how beautiful Allegheny is so that's why I'm here. Thanks guys!

I grew up in forest county and I appreciate that you made a video about this area, the Allegheny National Forest is under appreciated
I have been to Minister Creek almost every year since I was 5 years old and never get tired of it. I love being there so close to nature.
Would love to try this. Never got to at age 63 but still could would. Just not alone!! Beautiful place !!
this is the first overnight trip my fiance and i did together, great memories and honestly one of the most beautiful places in the whole region
Nice work, especially with the music!

I hav photos of my brother and I and my two dogs from 1981 on that first flat rock in the video. Used to love that area!
Awesome adventure, Frozen! Good stuff.
The oil "thing" is a pump jack...pulls crude up from the bottom of the hole. It works as a piston to pressurize the bottom of the hole.
That was amazing, well done! Thumbs up and Greetings from Ireland! :)

@9:28, is that the rocks on the South Loop you were pointing at on the map?
Yes. I don't think they are labeled with text though. I believe they are just a pic of boulders on the map.
OK. So to get to the rocks at the South Loop, you have to head back downhill, huh.? I took the Middle Loop path on the right to get to the Overlook. Spectacular view. How are the rock formations on the North Loop.?
