Floods and earthquakes are much more frequent all over the world, my friend, he is right. How many floods drown provinces and cities around the world each year, and how many earthquakes hit places all over the world each year. Volcanoes are easily avoided and an explosion doesn't often occur, but floods and earthquakes hit many many many times each year. He is right.
The climate crisis has become worse recently due to people. But we just know that climate change is happening and we let climate change continue to happen. Global warming is worsening, creating a climate crisis, and I think we need to take this seriously.
The recent floods in Germany and Belgium were not caused by climate change, but by the design of the rivers, since the water has no place to go in times of high water levels. The solution is not stopping climate change (which we probably won't we able to anyway), but to give the rivers more room. The floodings that are caused by heavy rainfall are also not caused by climate change, but by poor design (and maintenance) of our sewers and by too much concrete and asphalt in the city's. Costal flooding might be partially caused by climate change, but the sea levels have been rising steadily voor about 200 years now, so that's nothing new. Fortunately the sea level rises very slowly, so we have enough time to adapt.
When was the last major change that could have caused this sudden increase in flooding? No doubt construction is a factor but that is IN ADDITION TO significantly higher rainfall. Blaming construction does not make climate change insignificant. There is increased flooding on plains where there is no construction. There just isn't the population to draw attention.

What evidence do you have for your assumption that rainfall will decrease if we lower our co2-emmisions? In short: don't you think adaptation would be a lot more efficient than mitigation?

The same goes for wildfires, which did not attribute to the flooding in the Eiffel-area for example. What is your reaction to my main argument: adaptation is more efficient than mitigation?

We are controlling the climate...Just not in a purposeful or conscious way. We need to allow it to go back to a natural state. We've increased CO2 by half in a very short time and CO2 keeps infrared from escaping to space. The more we produce the hotter it gets. That's just physics.

I don't believe in increasing intensity of of storms, drought, etc. I don't believe the oceans are rising any more than at the same rate they've been for the last 100yrs.
