I came in from Narita today! Flight came in around 2 PM JST. The MySOS app does fast track you through the covid protocols. The flight I went on made sure everyone was wearing a mask during the flight. It was a Japanese airline. During customs, I did see some people who weren't wearing masks. None of the airport employees said anything.
@knight4039 how long did it take you? MYSOS app is blue so hopefully that helps me.
Dos tourist from Blue list need my sos?
@@xMuRDoCx Yup, it was basically a bit of a longer walk to immigration is all. If you didn't have the mysos app blue, they brought you to a separate area with seating and a desk to review your documents and have you sign affirmations about following covid protocols while in Japan.
@@user-kc1tf7zm3b I am not sure anymore. Have heard of a new system starting November 1 that uses a website and not an app.
@@hchghcgxhchc8864 Heard news that things are changing November 1.
Since October 11, many foreign tourists have visited Japan. As a Japanese, I am very happy. I hope that more countries will allow visa-free entry.
Imagine arriving in Japan and being greeted by John!
This is wonderful! To all the travelers from all over the world... have the best time in Japan.😊
Great to see, I am booked for my trip in May. Cannot wait to go back to Japan!
Hi John..im so happy that Japan is finaly is open for tourists and that the people can have a great time there to just be,to have a vacation or just to do go to see places, maybe meet friends they haven't seen when Japan closed..im happy for them
So nice to see everything getting back to normal ❤️
Thanks for doing this!! Just watched another youtuber interviewing hk people who came via kansai osaka airport and all commented the immigration/my sos process to be smooth. So definitely a good sign!
I'll be there on Sunday, so I'm hoping too.
We arrived at Kansai on the 11th. If you have your MySOS app completed, it was very fast and smooth. They had TONS of people to speed you through. Japanese efficiency at its best.I think we were out under one hour. We did more walking than waiting in a line.
Yes, it seems like it goes smoothly for people who planned ahead. I noticed travelers from flights didn’t all come out in a group. It trickled out. Interesting.
I started planning my trip 3 years ago, but Japan started closing tourist attractions and their border just one week before my trip was planned. For now, I wanted to wait till they open officially. I started booking everything in a rush so that I can fly out this Saturday to Narita :) . Can't wait! Soo much geekiness is waiting for me in Japan! :)
Woah, well, since I came through Japan during the summer within Narita. So, it was crazy of few different flights that was coming and going. And that’s why I love going through Narita. One of these days, I gotta go through the other two airports to get a feel of experience other locations. Also, Guam goes through Narita airport for connecting flights. Hence the reason why I mention of going through Narita.
Thank you for both the travel and iPhone saga update!🎉
I arrived on Oct 1 via Narita since all Haneda flights were sold out. It was quick with the MySOS app especially with blue screen. The only wait I needed was going through border (since I need to show them eVISA, I'm probably one of the last visitors who needed a visa). In total, the MySOS app fast tracked me to a non-significant amount of time (1 mins added delay), border took 20 mins, luggage was sitting there waiting for me since I flew business (priority baggage). Plus all the walking, 25 mins and I met my taxi (MK Tokyo)
I booked my flight for mid November yesterday. Exciting!
Thanks for this. I’m counting down to arriving on 3 November 🤞🏾
Have booked for December. Can't wait to go.
Thanks for this!
Thanks for the info. You made my day.
Damn ticket are still expensive...
I think you would have see more out of NRT. In my planning I would say 1/10 flights gave me an option for HND and the rest was NRT. That being said, I got in a week ago on a tourist visa (got it all before they announced it wasn't needed today) and I have mostly been hanging out around Akihabara and tonight there was a noticeable amount of non japanese walking around. Maybe coincident, I didn't ask them if they just got in or not.
I'll be there next month! Hopefully they'll have everything ironed out by then. That's why I didn't rush to go immediately.
Hi John. So nice to see tourist coming back to Japan. I agree... not as many people like I thought but perhaps it'll pick up over the next few days. Nonetheless, nice to see a bit on normalcy returning to Japan. I could imagine Leo talking to a pigeon... like daddy does. Lol. And hooray for the iPhone news! Finally.... progress! Thank you for keeping us updated. Mata Ne!
@@lilliipod2640 Been where and done what?
Probably lot of flights arrived at Narita and I’m so happy to see lot of people coming to Japan
We appreciate this. Thanks.
missed it live that's ok, it's good to see you at the airport where the international flights will start arriving from all around the globe. your a great ambassador for Japan. glad your so excited and I'm sure it'll start out slowly like a babies first step and once all the issues are worked out with tourist returning from all over the world. that it'll be many many more flights from all over. thanks again John
I'm visiting Tokyo early next month leaving from Taiwan. Already got the ticket, still feeling so excited after the three years apart.
Thank you for doing that John, I will arrive via narita next Friday, I can't wait!!! 😊
Thank you for this. We are planning for June 2023 and these videos are helpful
I'll be there next month!! :) Can't wait!!!!!
I'll be there in 19 days! Tell the autumn colors to wait for me!
I am just waiting to hear back from a prospective employer as to when they would need me to start. Once that's sorted, if everything is good on that end, I'll be heading over December 3rd - 17th. Can't wait; it's been 13 years since the one and only time I've been to Japan. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
I came through Haneda Airport last month, when I was visiting Japan.
Hello John, I have a trip coming up with a long layover in Japan, would I be able to enter for a few hours during my layover?
Im from Guam i really want go go Japan again. I miss Haneda Airport John!
Hi John thanks for the video. I think because it's the first day you may not see alot of people because folks have to have time to schedule time off at work and make vacation plans. I just booked my flight tonight. I'm coming November 6th. I'll be there the whole week and leave the 11th. i can't wait! 😊 I'll be flying into HND from JFK !!
Good news for your pocket. Thanks John for the extra stay at Haneda. It could be that Narita or Kansai maybe more crowded. Cheers to Kanae and Rio.
Hi John,
Been following your videos since we bought our 2week Architectural Tour in 2019. We were supposed to leave 2020 during the cherry blossom season, and got cancelled several times. It’s finally happening, we will be in Tokyo on Monday.
Hope to see you in Narita , lol. 🤣🤣🤣
My girlfriend and I are in Singapore right now because we didn’t know if Japan was going to open this year. We will be in Sapporo next year for their snow festival! We are so excited to make our 4th trip to Japan 🎉
This was a great video. It must be great to see foreign tourists back in Japan. I'm planning my first trip for May of 2024.
I have quotation for you. What's the difference between the Sugoca card you have in the video and a Suica card?
I'll be arriving tomorrow :) I'm actually on a trip to Seoul, which was already booked before Kishida announced the opening of the country so I'm coming for a few days, Tokyo is just 2.5 hrs from Seoul so I won't be tired and I wanted to come as quickly as possible :)
It's gonna be 1009 days since I was last in Japan, which will now be my 31st visit. I'll come back properly for a longer time next month though :)
That’s great! Welcome to Japan!
So cool, I remember when I first went to Japan I flew from Fort worth on the easy there and then on the way back we stopped at Chicago Airport.
I won't be flying there until flights prices and flight times go down
I am going there tommorow for one month trip !!! Lets go !
Got tickets to come in February so will be interesting to see how many more visitors will be coming at that time.
I can’t wait to go to Japan😀😀😀
Hi there. I will be going to Manila January of next year and will have an overnight layover in Haneda Airport. Am I allowed to leave the airport to explore the city? Just curious… -Rose
So excited also to visit Japan again , the last we were there was December 2019
Thanks for the video! Its been a while i can not travel to Japan!
@@lilliipod2640 I mean to see the travelers at the airport gave me hope for a come back to Japan.
@@lilliipod2640 Yeah I think so.
There are probably more international flights landing in Narita. I visited Tokyo just 2 weeks ago and arrived at Narita AP.
T-Mobile magenta works just fine in Japan with iPhone.
I wish I was flying jnto Haneda but Jetstar comes in via narita and that NEX train ontop of a 8 hour flight is just too much.
Hi John, we are arriving in Japan from the US November 12 and then taking a flight straight to Korea from 13th to 18th, then coming back to Japan 19th. Do you foresee any problems with going back and forth between Japan and Korea? 😅 I believe they are both visa free,, (we filled out K-ETA for Korea last year)
I don’t see any problems.
Very encouraging! Thanks John!
Narita may be more congested, i got more options to that Airport on all my trips included the one i'm doing mid october now. My flights connect to USA so people from there may be arriving on Narita too. Also prefer Narita to flight backs since i get flights departing at ~5PM unlike HND that departs at like ~10AM
That’s true, the flight times could work out better from NRT. Narita is further out there but there are other reasons to come in via NRT than HND.
Soo awesome
We just booked our flight in Dec.
Canada dropped all thier restrictions a month ago. Not sure why Japan is still doing all these restrictions.
Hi,
So t JFK flight did not land at 4:40 but at 5:24 (Scheduled versus Estimated)That's roughly 2 hours to get out, which is consistent with what the person from Thailand said bases on the time of his flight landing
question for everyone...im a filipino citizen with a US Greencard..im coming from LAX with a 12 hrs layover in Haneda then to manila...do i still need a visa for a quick tour...?
Thank you for doing this. My stepson arrived at Narita at 4:30 pm and I have not talked to him yet to ask how long it took him to get through immigration. But we are glad he is there. ❤️
I just found out, that he was able to get through immigrations quick...about 15 - 20 minutes and he was done. MySOS app made the process seamless. He saw those who had not used the MySOS App were held back to do paperwork. Thank you for letting us know and thank you for encouraging everyone to use of it. It made entry that much more easy! So download the app and follow the instructions. It is worth it.
Aloha 🤙 from Honolulu ! Thanks John for the great update 👍. I think that I will wait 'till next year
ALOHA! Next year will be incredible!
👍👍👍👏👏👏 Tq for sharing n have a blessed day
I believe some european airlines long haul flights are due to increase next few months into NRT HND and KIX I think it may be a little early before it all sinks in to see more passengers as it was announced the new rules on the 11th october!give it a couple of month especially when the other airlines start increasing there services thats my thoughts anyways!
It will take some time for flights to go back to normal since they've massively cut the flight plans and now they have trouble staffing the ground and board personal everywhere. Even if I wanted to come between now and the next few months, the number of Star Alliance flights from Germany to HND can be easily counted on 1 hand: There's one flight to and from MUC and one flight to and from FRA per day... Plus they're super expensive and taking really long (probably war related), too...
Flights are very expensive and some hostels are closing now because after waiting so long for budget travel to reopen not enough people are booking trips. I’ve never seen Haneda that empty with so many incoming flights. Even the weak yen isn’t helping apparently. Did you notice if the pay-in shower rooms were open?
It felt so good to say it out loud after two years of waiting. See you guys in January. 🗼
i wish there was a direct flight with air canada to Haneda but there isnt. im suppoosed to arrive at Narita in nov 1 for 2.5 weeks.
More routes are certainly going to open up and old ones possibly restart soon.
@@onlyinjapanGO im just happy Montreal to Narita is direct. still 13hr flight but atleast i dont need to worry about connections to make my way there.
Narita is where the action is at...
I guess so! It sure wasn’t here.
@@onlyinjapanGO if only the newbs knew that haneada is so close to central tokyo haha
@@ando1135 Haneda is catering to “premium” flights though and leisure/low cost flights still prefer Narita owing to less flight slot restrictions. Besides, the travel time from Haneda and Narita to Tokyo Station isn’t much different.
@@joeychan6300 I have been using Haneda for the past 7 years and didn’t realize there is premium for flights going to that airport.
The only time there is a premium is when/if I booked late.
@Not an internet troll Maybe “premium” is not the proper term but rather “business travel” flights. Many flights to HND are from the developed-advanced cities whereas the more obscure cities are solely serving NRT. Either way, NRT and HND both have excellent transportation system which makes the difference between them almost negligible unless you live in Yokohama or Southern Tokyo.
I was in Haneda 2019 and it looked just like that. Very quiet and not many people even though its summer.
Interesting! Thanks for the feedback.
Finally after a two & half years wait, we'll be flying into Narita this Thursday.
awesome!!
I'll be there in 2 weeks! CAN'T WAIT.
I think when the USA flights arrive you’d have a bigger excitement or “yahoo!”. Also that didn’t seem like a large crowd exiting from Taiwan or Thailand(maybe others are making a connection to different cities). Thanks John for keeping us posted.
Depends on vaccine status and MySOS app etc. it can take 30 min to 3 hours it seems.
Hello John.. I know Japan is now open for tourism. May I ask you if tourist still need to get a covid test once arrive in Japan. the reason i asked this question because in Korea you need to get a covid test within 24hrs once you arrived. I’m coming fr the US fully vaccinated and got 2doses booster.
i can’t wait to visit Japan again very soon.
If they’re unvaccinated, yes - but if you’re vaccinated and the MySOS app validated it, you don’t. The rules are always changing so best source is Google MOFA and MHLW.
welcome to Japan!!!
Cool
One reason why there are fewer people arriving in Japan may be cost. Let’s face it, airline ticket prices have skyrocketed in the last two and a half years. Plus I think a lot of people are in a “wait and see how things go” frame of mind.
I figured it would go up with supply soon low. More routes SHOULD have been opened based on demand, but when they do open, gas prices will keep prices high 😵💫
I think your right. Anyway, the way things stand now, I won’t be coming to Japan this year.
how about nartita? i though most of the international flight land there? l wonder what's like there?
There are more but a lot of flights have been coming to Haneda which is more convenient. It must be crazy at Narita!
Do they check your temperature at the airport?
Be there on November 3rd!
I started filling out the SOS app and got to a point where they want to know where you will stay during quarantine if you do contract COVID while you are in Japan, how do you know where you will stay? so i gave up
Just write in the hotel address. It’s kind of the only address you’ve got. Anyone else can give any other advice having done this lately?
@@onlyinjapanGO Thanks John 👍
We were there 4 weeks ago and other than a long walk to the covid inspection and visa inspection the arrival area wasn't that full.
@@lilliipod2640 I think the change is in the volume and ease of entry. Our visit still required a Visa and covid rules were a little stricter but it was worth going.
Hi from Australia. We booked as well. We’ll be there in April landing in Haneda. We cannot wait.
Really miss japan. 😢
Only just arrived with KLM from Amsterdam. This flight had a 2 hours stop over in Seoul. At Kyoto airport, arrivals procedures were very smooth with the MySOS App turned blue (if all documents had been approved on beforehand). It took just a half hour or so. Looking forward to visiting Kyoto 😀
Hello, Do they accept vaccinations status on your phone with QR code ? Or you need to have it printed and stamped by the vaccination centre ?
@@abaadil8343 Hi! They only wanted to see the QR code!
We will visit soon, very soon.
Flights arriving at Narita airport are cheaper than Haneda even if train/bus from airport to central Tokyo included.
We will be due to arrive in Haneda this Sunday from London, leaving Saturday evening. It's our first time in Japan. Going to visit family in Tokyo as well as sightseeing. We're getting ready for the trip. The MYSoS apps have turned blue thankfully, filled in questionnaire web and the visit Japan web and printed the tickets, etc. The weekend might be busier.
@@user-kc1tf7zm3b Lovely. We have both My SOS and paper/digital vaccination certificates so will bring them all.
Arriving Friday 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome to JAPAN, in 24 hours!
We are arriving on Monday! Super excited
Sunday!!! For me!! Omg can't wait 😍
Can you show Narita Airport? This is where I will be landing in December. I wanted to see how it is today.
If I have time :) but it’s a pretty far hike just to film people coming in 🤣 I just happened to arrive at Haneda from Kagoshima so it was easy to stop in. I’ll see if I can at the end of the month
I'm in route, landing in NARITA in less than 2 hours!!!! From Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 to Japan 🇯🇵!!!
🥳🥳🥳
Wow!! Welcome to Japan Luis! How was the process to enter for you?
So, Leo just learned the legendary skill that allows the user to talk with pigeons 🐦, like you John. 😎
I guess it is hereditary at this point 🤪
@@razgrlz1593 I'd like to know 😂
Do you have too test when you land in Japan if you not vacated?
Depends on country of origin
Please Google MOFA and Japan entry for the details.
If it takes a while to get off a flight. Sounds like to me when you leave, I bet it probably be wise to come even earlier than usual. Hopefully by March of 2023 things will be allot more relax.
Also, probably be more crowded too. Man, I can't wait to come to Japan!!! >
Maybe - it depends in your vaccination status and if you are healthy when you arrive etc. we went through in 30 minutes. It seemed that people did not come out together on the flight … interesting.
@@onlyinjapanGO Note taken. I only got two shots and not three. I've been conflicted if I should get the booster or not. I've mostly a healthy individual. Not a fan being sick.
Hi John if your at Narita airport on the 16 th of November you will see 5 super excited Australians. Love your videos, they have kept us sill believing that One day we will be back. And we are..Hello to all our fellow travellers from Downunder 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
I am booked for Feb for snowboarding. We were there the month before they shut down. So looking forward to being back in febs. I grabbed 100k yen when the yen .97 aussie cents now its down to 91 today booooo
We arrive on the 26th from Oz too!! 🙌🏼💃🏽
I think Narita might be more busy than Haneda. I think a lot of airlines only fly to Narita.
I am a little concerned about the temperature level cut off. I have 2 children who are typically at 99.0-99.2 as their baseline, which is really close to the 99.5F (37.5C). They are healthy, but very 'hot-blooded' as the doctors call it. If their temp sits a little high what do we do? It seems so bizarre to not be able to get in because you are a person who naturally has a higher temp.
Get your doctor to write a letter on clinic letter head paper explaining and sign. Then get a good translation of the letter to include, have the translator person sign and explain who they are also.
Yes, please get a doctors note 📝 with official seal and contact info. 37.5℃ is universal for a fever in Japan. If it’s below that, they’re fine. 37.4℃ doesn’t do anything. It can be close but it should be above it or they’ll have to be tested. That’s all :)
It is so easy and fast to go through the custom about 30 minutes but waiting the luggage is painful. It took more than 30 minutes.
Yep it’s really open
If I knew John would be waiting at Haneda, I would fly yesterday (to arrive today!)
Welcome to Japan!! Wish I could have been their to greet everyone today too!
@@onlyinjapanGO thank you very much John. I did think of coming in Oct as my daughter is having a 2-week school holiday this month. But there were too many uncertainties and I didn’t how long the package tour thing would last. We are now planning to come in May! We’ll spend a few days in Tokyo so I think I still have a chance to find you 😁 take care and look forward to the next video
it’s the air ticket prices…
crazy high to japan, thats another reason
