This worked perfectly for me, using a full-sized claw hammer. My 12th fret was playing the 13th fret note, but only on the highest string, so I pulled the strings aside (didn't even de-tune it) and gave it a few taps and tried it. Did that about 3 times, so maybe a total of 9 or 10 light taps (only using about 15% of the hammer's head, just on the E string area of the fret), and the dead note was fixed. Not having a 12th fret made checking intonation a bit tricky! Thanks for the great advice!! 💙💙💛💛

I would recommend changing the title to "Does Your Mandolin Have a High Fret/Dead Note?" If you search dead note this video is nowhere to be found, which is a shame. 😀
