I love these videos. I’ve been trying to study all the history I can and I just realized how little I know about PEI. I have a hard time listening to longer videos and these are perfect for me. Hello from British Columbia!
Interesting information on skunks. As a kid growing up in Malpeque I was involved in catching skunks and after drowning them we would cut their snouts of and sell them for 50 cents each. We also had a fox ranch at our farm and I found them to be very vicious animals to handle. Do you have any information on the Malpeque store that was in business for about 130 years..
My understanding had always been that they had the foxes loose but contained them on Oulton Island/Fox Island off the coast of Alberton. Is this incorrect?
well they like my sun deck on Gerald street in Charlottetown thats for sure and in fact I think a skunk is what killed and ate parts of my nearly 12 year old Chihuahua that I loved so much and still cry for (this happened in my very well fenced yard while i was in the house sleeping .
Its crazy how many people dont know skunks were farm raised for fur. Thanks for the great info

So it's _really_ interesting that the PEI silver-black foxes were the basis for the Russian silver fox domestication project...
Great video!
Glad you like it Laurie!
Is p.e.i. univ in the top 500 univ, globally? Does p.e.i. have any " sister - cities " ?
I understand that at one time there were so many skunks on the island, that there was a bounty on them....so many dollars paid per skunk nose.
It wasn't me!!!
I don't see many skunks around the Island any more. Is their population in decline?
