😊That explained so many things running around in my head. Little pieces of information being put together so nicely into the jigsaw puzzle of life. Even explaining the possible adverse affects to some families or individuals whilst trying the strategies helped explain why things can be difficult. Every section discussed goes so well together and explains exactly the journey I’ve had so far. Now .... onto braving the teenage years. Thanks Dr Barkley, you have been where I go to refocus and recalibrate myself to continue on and to keep putting one foot in front of the other when at my lowest. I can imagine that there is an unknown multitude of others that feel the same way about you. From the bottom of my heart Thankyou. 😊❤

Highly recommend Ryan Wexelblatt’s Parent behavior training, $20/mo gives you access to online webinars and twice monthly office hours. He’s got a channel on RUclips called ADHD Dude.

Hi Dr. Barkely, my son was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 6 and has been taking Concerta for seven months. However, he struggles with emotional regulation at school, often screaming and crying. As a result, the doctor suggested aripiprazole (1.25mg/day). Considering the numerous adverse effects of aripiprazole, we're contemplating whether using aripiprazole is a wise choice or if there are other methods with better risk-benefit ratios available. Deeply appreciated if we can receive your advice. Thank you!

My child did the best on vyvanse but insurance wouldn’t cover it so we went with Concerta. Finally got her at a good dose that helped her focus but she still struggles with impulses. Now dealing with her living with dad bc less rules, acting out in inappropriate ways, self medicating with alcohol and vapes, lying and rebellion. Any insight on dealing with this issue? Shes 16 and now driving and it worries me. Dad got her a car and I don’t think she was ready.

Hello, did you mean the stimulant or nonstimulant medicine?
And which is more effective for adult adhd?

Both are more effective than parent training but in adults the amphetamines are the most effective. Be wellmm

Im sorry. It seems to me that you are mentioning your books more and more. And while they are properly good ressources, this means that this feels more and more like watching a commercial. It also means that naturalally I get more and more sceptical if this is "for the greater good" or to sell books. I mean sure, I understand that - but it lowers the obejctiveness.
