Hi, I'm 58 years old and have tried and failed 4 times previously to learn to play guitar. I'm now 12 months into giving it my best efforts and I'm slowly seeing progress I am very much a beginner but I really like your teaching style and the graphics are a wonderful help. Thanks again for channel. I'll look into Patreon to help support. Kind regards
Hi Lauren, I've seen three other videos on how to do this song & you easily beat the lot of them with clear simplicity on how to do the Bass riff, the strumming patterns & the feel & speed of how to do those chords at the various speeds & patterns. Thank you very much. I think you put more effort into your videos than anyone else I have seen.
Thanks Lauren. I have the CCR book but couldn't get my head around the opening riffs. Your explanation and demo are awesome. It would be great if you could do a lesson on "Goin Back"; written by Carly Simon and sung by Dusty Springfield
Ha, I’ve been making a list of songs you teach with the RUclips links for future practice when I’ve reached that stage of skill level. I’ve been practicing my butt off. This song is great. Out of the blue, my strumming practice has come thru, I am able to play the harder strumming pattern with relative ease and it sounds great. Thanks for another great video lesson.
Hi Lauren. I've just stumbled across your RUclips channel and now practising this riff., which I might add I'm finding pretty easy to do.. Jerry from Derry here. Beautiful little City in Northern Ireland. I've had this Guitar for more than 20 years now and I think I managed to play 3 songs in all that time. OK Well maybe PLAY is pushing it a bit. I turn 68 Next month and I'm planning on have at least one or 2 songs pinned by then so I'm on the clock. My work always got in the way and it still does but I'm finally managing my time a bit better now and I've set myself a goal. Problems are BIG hands and getting my fretting fingers to stretch to the C chord for one. I'm comfortable with A, but due to finger size I'm fretting 3 strings with 2 fingers, D, E, Em, Am and G but at times my big old fingers get in the way of the G as well. Bar chords ...big No No. Cannot get my finger to lay flat on the fret board I have no medical conditions at all, keep fairly fit and jog 5k 3 days a week. I like all music genre's with the exception of Jazz! Not a big Jazz fan. Love Neil Diamond especially his Hot August Night Album, Cat Stevens, have most of his albums, Simon & Garfunkel's Gracelands and I love love love Country Music. My Country interests, and which I really want to learn Guitar for are..... Kevin Welch - Something About You, Train to Birmingham, Too Old To Die Young, Andaman Sea Kieran Kane - Eight More Miles, This Dirty Little Town, Je Suis Tres Contendre Guy Clark - L.A. Freeway, Dublin Blues, Magnolia Wind, Without Getting Killed or Caught, John Prine - Aimless Love, Christmas In Prison, Crazy As A Loon, Grandpa Was A Carpenter, It's A Big Old Goofy World, Don't Bury Me. and almost anything by the legend that is.. Mr Alan Jackson Have you ever covered any of these?
I have said it before, Lauren is a brilliant teacher, I am a big CCR FAN, and always wanted to know the intro riff and the rhythm for this . Thanks lady.
You are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I have looked up so many lessons for beginners from all of the guys that people recommend and you are easily the best teacher for beginners that I have seen!
Thanks! After decades of thumb strumming and finger picking, I'm learning to strum and pick with a flat pick. This is a great exercise. Feels like I'm using a shovel, but it's a start. Great lesson. I hope everyone knows that under the little gear icon you have the ability to slow down the videos to "play-along" speed.
You know I'm going to tune in, save and share anything you teach us from CCR.... I'm a huge John Fogerty fan ever since I was a child.... Even with the arthritis in my left thumb flaring like a you know what‼️ I still picked up the guitar and I'm practicing this song...... 🎶✨🙏 Thanks Teach.... 🍎
Ha ha. Yeah CCR tunes do really well on the channel, so I feel like you're not the only CCR fan out there. :) That stinks on the thumb. Try practicing form your chords without using your thumb. When you really get into it, there isn't a lot of pressure on the thumb on the back of the guitar for open chords.
Great tutorial. Im absolutely shit at guitar. Been trying to learn for years. This is the best tutorial Ive found for explaining it clearly. Especially the strumming patterns etc. Ill sub and check out all your other tutorials now. Thank you.

Thank you, Johnes for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
what was very nice (that most online guitar tutorials lack) was that you put the counts in for the 16th note strumming patterns. Makes it much easier for me than just a bunch of downs and ups. Thank you!
Hi. Thanks for the time you put in. I had real trouble with the riff rhythm. I recorded your slow playing through my looper and now it just plays the riff continuously. Finally getting the rhythm right.
Thanks Lauren for livening up Saturday AM! You can play along with John and his kids at Fogerty's Factory (Pandemic covers galore). He sounds the same as he did all those years ago.His tunes never grow old it seems.
I love the lesson you explained it so simple love CCR I met John fogerty at a book signing I read the book and still can't believe how much money he lost and paid for song that he made his music will always be with me Thank you for sharing I am definitely writing on my list of songs to practice with

My husband gave me a Blueridge Tenor Guitar on our anniversary! It sounds beautiful! I am missing the sound of the base strings, but I think it will be less difficult to play; small hands, short fingers. I’m making progress with your videos, but struggle a bit with only having four strings, rather than six. When life settles down one day, I’d like to sign up for lessons. Will it be difficult to learn with my four-string tenor? And by the way, you simply can’t go wrong with CCR. I’m trying to learn Lodi; it’s fun, but a bit of a struggle at the end when the chord changes a bit higher. Would you kindly add this song to your list? Thank you for teaching in a way that someone who is NOT musically inclined, is able to learn to play and sound halfway decent😉.
Love the song…..love the lesson. Many thanks. One of my all-time favourites is Melanie’s cover of “Ruby Tuesday”, a great song and a lovely mix of strumming and picking. I’d love it if you could give a lesson on it!
I recognise this format ! the C F G chord progession is called the 1 4 5 chord progression which is called the 12 Bar Blues Chord Progression which is in the key of C Major and is built off the C Major Chromatic Scale ! thank you very much for this fancy fun lesson Lauren ! As the song says, "the rooster just hit the washboard !!!" he he ! me and my seal point siamese cat "Mr Snoop" say YAY ! lol :)
Wow, I have been playing this song for a little while now but when doing the 2nd lick I would hit the 5th fret of the D string twice instead of moving over to the G string and playing it open twice. It's so much easier to play those two notes open on the G string vs having to stretch down to the 5th fret on the D. They are both G's if anyone is curious.. Thanks for the tip!!
By the way Lauren another good thing to do is to try and figure out what chords are being used in a song, so if you are in the key of C major (like you are for this song) so if you don't know all the chords to a particular song, try playing a couple of chords from the key that your are in and try singing along to it, if the notes that you are playing on your guitar or if the notes that you are playing on your piano keyboard are not actually blending in fully with the notes and words that you are singing, then that chord is most likely the wrong chord for that part of the chord progression, on the other hand if the notes you are playing on the guitar or piano keyboard sound like they actually blend in well with the notes that you are singing and the words that you are singing along with , then you have most likely found the right chords and the right chord progression order for that particular song which means you are most likely in tune and in key :)
You’re an outstanding guitar tutor! Have you done “Ripples” by the Dead? That would be great. Thanks!
I have not! That's a great song.
