My dad used this to close his entertainment evenings at a place call The Bella Vista Hotel in Newquay in Cornwall from the 70s to the early 80s. He passed away 7 years ago but his is still his song to me. Thank for doing it such amazing justice

This song is one of the greatest hits not only of the 70s, it is timeless. Whenever I heard him, I had to fight my emotions, hold back tears.
But today I fought in vain ... The majestic way you played the drum part is simply incomparable, and it made me cry.
A song has never been so fitting for Christmas, the greater this gift you gave us.
From the bottom of my heart I wish you, your mom, your dad and Milena, as well as the whole team behind you, a nice, peaceful and quiet Christmas season. Enjoy the holidays and have fun and joy.
    The lady

Frohe Weihnachten Euch allen Musikliebhabern hier!

YOUR music pulls me through. You do not know how important it is to me. Those luider than normal drums in combination with the music you play that I so dearly like is doing something to my brain it synchronizes both brain halves and makes the medication induced parkinsonism disappear it can unlock me and I like to listen to it whilst I think about complicated things need to stay awake or wake up. It makes me feel better in so many ways and your pretty beautiful looks make me feel better they brighten my day. While I am just a deranged fan I love you and your music !!! Thank so much !!! You make my day better !!! Kind regards from sietze van de Burgt out of the netherlands !!!

Oh WOW Sina. Ever since I first heard this it was MY song, my soundtrack. Apparently when I was a few years old I use to just about stand and dance to Top of The Pops in early 70s. Then when I was about 6 or 7 I found my mums old record player and 60s singles that she left when she moved to Australia. Music has seen me through everything I done and still do. You've covered this so wonderfully.Thank You Sina ❤

    Great job there Sina.
Many years ago, I used to work for the local concert promoter doing 'humping and dumping' for bands as they came to the various venues around Stoke-on-Trent. It essentially entailed helping the road crews to unload and reload the trucks and get stuff onto the stage, plus anything else they needed that wasn't too specialist. John Miles and his band was one of the ones I worked at the Hanley, Victoria Hall, around the time that 'Music' had hit the UK charts. My abiding memory of the gig though was that John (and band) had so much stuff on the stage, that there wasn't enough space to get the support band set up, so John had to go straight on without the warm-up. My recollections are somewhat hazy at this distance in time, but for all the issues, it was still a great gig.

  • @gary1961

This was my big anthem of the 1970s. I didn't think it could get any better than 10cc I'm Not In Love, then along came Bohemian Rhapsody. But, in my opinion, Music by John Miles joins, and surpasses those two mighty songs. It means so much more to me on a personal level for what I was experiencing in my life at the time.
I love watching all those Proms videos on you tube. John has still 'got it' after all these years.

Nancy, this was pretty daggone eloquent yourself. I loved the different rhythms here, from orchestral, to pop from the 70's, to the hand percussion beat early, and the solo tom to effectively portray what in an orchestra would be kettle drums. My 2 other favorite parts of this song were at 442 and 504 with 10 straight cymbal hits to build the music up. This young lady is Music.

I was 14 when we saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan here. Attending the antiwar Moratorium March in San Francisco in October of 1969, I was thrilled by the cast of Hair appearing on stage to perform some of their songs. Live in person music by Joan Baez, Devo, the Zeroes (California punk band), the Grateful Dead, Journey, etc. Whew! I love the work you are doing. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Great choice, Sina! This is one of my all-time favourites songs. Interestingly, there are quite a few connections between John Miles, Alan Parsons and my favourite band, the Hollies. Alan Parsons was the sound engineer on a few Hollies albums, while the Hollies' Terry Sylvester and Allan Clarke appeared on the Alan Parsons Project's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" and "I Robot" respectively. In 1981 the Hollies covered John Miles excellent "Carrie", with John Miles providing the high harmony and backing vocals. In 1999, he filled in on lead vocals with the Hollies for a handful of concert dates when Allan Clarke wasn't able to make it. Just a bit of rock history there that you might not have been aware of :-)

Such a beautiful song in a year that has had many ups and downs. One of the bright spots for me was hearing a new song from you every week. Like millions of people around the world I wait each week for your next release and you never disappoint us. Whether it's an old classic or a new original we have never heard before they are all beautifully done and just can't help but make us feel good for having heard it. Thank you so much.

Merry Christmas one and all even if not the one we are accustomed to. Chrissie Hynde has one of my favorite xmas performances The Pretenders - 2000 Miles - 1995 (Better Graphics & Audio) - Bing video
Actually (now that the 25th is behind us) I've been listening to the Grateful Dead a lot lately and was going to suggest something to Sina but then I realized that they were such an aware band they actually used 2 drummers, lol !!! I hear better versions on Sat Radio but here's youtube's version of US Blues
    US Blues (v2) - Grateful Dead - 4-12-1978 - Duke Univ, Durham, NC set2-10 - RUclips

Thank you Sina, and Merry Christmas to you too!
I remember how refreshingly different and inspiring this song was when it came out, and I also remember how annoyed I got with DJs fading it out because it didn't fit the standard slots for each song on the radio.
Over the years since, I've kept rediscovering it, then losing it among some new musical favourite band, artist or style, but it is somehow always there, even if I'm not hearing it regularly at that time, as a concept, a thought in the back of my mind, that keeps me coming back to music as a foundation when times have been tough.
