So we're both here for the same reason, huh
imagine, what other masterpieces would have he created, if he would live another 50 years..... GENIUS
So how has life treated you in these 10 years? You married and have kids?
@@NoU-pf8fc I always think that too when I see an old comment. Too bad they'll never respond

I wouldn't be surprised if Nietzsche had listened to this one before saying that life without music would be an error...
Great music can have many traits and one of them presents itself as a chameleon in the emotions of its listener. Standchen can be symbolize a lovely moment of passion between two lovers, a bittersweet goodbye, an expression of desperation in which hope and strengths momentarily surface only to vanish cruelly.
Doleful whispers of lamentation carried by the strings while the piano as an avuncular fashion accompanies and reiterates the last words given life through the melody.
Calming without loosing its dramatic nature, sentimental without relying on unfitting shifts of dynamics, its beginning with the bass ominously advancing while the ostinato figure of the right hand of the piano switches back and forth from 2 positions effortlessly.
The notion that the execution of this piece lauds symbolizes is the idea of selfless partnership. The idea of the piano serving the goals set by the violin eager to give voice to repressed thoughts or gifting its swan song to the world.
Much have been said of the beautiful melody played by the violin but selfless, regal and steady the piano shifts from the background to continue ringing in our mind even after the song has ended.
Gentle, attentive it glides as the violin moves, its stomps as the string screech, it carries as the melody's strength seemingly evaporates... yes it also continues, marches and picks its partner as the melody rests

I love it when you can hear your own life there. That's when you know you like one's piece.
Thank u took words right out of my MOUTH..wonderfully
This is 1 of the few songs that I found that-unfortunately-reminds me of losing my son some yrs ago. It took me 6 mo. 2 track it down. Even though it's so very emotional, it is hauntingly beautifully eternal. Now I must seek out other artists interpretations...
Praise to the pianist, violinist, and Franz Schubert! Even for Schubert, a great writer of songs (and pieces in general), this is extremely lyrical and beautiful. Though some say Beethoven is the bridge from Classical to Romantic, I think it is Schubert as well who helped develop the Romantic era. Bravo!
To listen to this, is as watching two lovers responding to one another, in word, in movement, and even emotionally...every aspect of living. Very beautiful and lovely.

Your age? you should say my age, 15.
I find this music very beautiful, truly one of my favourite composers.
People these days don't explore the musical world, they just wait for whats new, and don't care about the classics.
You are 25 now, right?
My age is 13
I found the oldest youtube comment yet
dude I feel as if I found a treasure map or something lol
Get rid of your superiority complex. People have different tastes.
Remarkably beautiful full of passion and pathos.
The best version of Schubert. Thank you.
Schubert really didn't become well known untill over 40 years after his death. The one time he performed a concert in his lifetime, it was the same week beethoven was in the country so he got no recognition in newspapers or the media, everything was about beethoven. The thing that amazes me was that he was perfectly content without fame he stilled lived a happy life even with little money and no recognition.
I've been searching for this song and it's name in excess of 8 years... thank you so much to the uploader!
Superb ; absolutely no life without listening to music ; that makes us sail with our soals into high oceans....
Absolutely wonderful, so full of life and dynamic.
This deserves a standing ovation.
This song is absolutely beautiful.
BELEZA IMENSURÁVEL !!!!! (grata. Malu/ Brasil)
Mind blowing....Schubert willbalways be my favourite
Che bellissima ! This piece has always been of my favorite Schubert compositions.Just superb. Grazie mille for sharing this with us,What a musical genius Maestro Schubert was. And he died so young ! Thanks again.
How has life treated you these past 10 years?
The lyrics for this piece are indispensable for a complete appreciation of Schubert's composition. I will post each quatrain:
1. Softly my sounds cry
through the night to you.
Down to the quiet grove,
beloved, come to me!
2.Slender treetops rustle, whisper
in the moonlight;
that hostile listeners will betray you,
do not be afraid, my darling.
continued
3.Do you hear the nightingales singing?
Ah, they are crying to you;
with their songs of sweet complaint
they are weeping for me.
If ever there was a species capable of utter disgraceful hatred, then it is us humans. How is it that we are capable of producing genius like Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart and Vivaldi, yet we go annihilating each other in Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Iraq?
I for one will never cease to wonder .. even more so listening to this abstractly beautiful master piece .. depressingly beautiful and outrageously humbling.
Some wars are beautiful, but most are not. The latter two were not, but the former two could've been, if the aim was different. It is right to war against whatever would prevent such genius from occuring.
Esta es una hermosa y singular obra del genio de Schubert, de una armonía que raya en lo perfecto y una melodía de ensueño. Musica para la eternidad.
Ohhh....I knew I'd heard this when I heard it in fnaf. It took me years for my brain to make the connection. I used to get bullied in senior school for listening to classical. Is it really that weird??

what a passion, what a soul in it. damn,he was not known in his time as a great composer.
Schubert, the only man who wrote divine melodies like Mozart did. Horowitz knew, and some others...
Mozart is universal and divine (in his gift), but you get to have your opinion.
Tartini > all
u cant close your head like a box, have u ever listened to beethoven? what about moonlight sonata 1st 2nd and 3rd mvement ? and his 5th symphony 1st movement, his 9th symphon first and penultimate movement, what about paganini caprices? tchaikovsky piano concerto no.1 theme ? what about chopin nocturnes ? and J.S.Bach with jesu joy of mans desiring, his "Air" piece, goldenberg variations etc... Not trying to nitpick, but Schubert was a composer from the Romantic Period. Often times, the term "classical " is used for music from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.
Beautiful piece.
Always reminds me of the Moonlight when it starts. Lovely piece of music.
And the last quatrain:
4.They know the heart’s longing,
know the pain of love,
touch with their silver tones
every tender heart
@jhvorotin: You are right about the difficulty of finding a truely satisfying version of this deservedly famous piece by Schubert on RUclips. But I did finally find a great performance of the piece by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Try searching on youtube with these words:

The opening chords sound pretty similar to Noisia's 'Tommy's Theme" which in turn sampled the same progression from Tommy Tee's Takin Ova. Whether intentional or not, it's interesting to see how music travels.
