    Glad to see it.
I once found a large fly-tip down a lane that you’d need a pretty decent 4x4 to get down (loose gravel and mud surface with a lot of dips and rises) so how they got that much crap down there I’ve no idea as you’d deffo need a trailer.
It was all domestic stuff ranging from toys to furniture to old clothes, as if someone had done a clear out. All of it could have been taken to the local re-cyc depot, which was only a couple of miles away and much easier to access.
I reported it to the council, who responded fairly quickly (which surprised me as it was a Sunday)and sent a follow-up message the next day to say it had been cleared up. I just hope they found something that tied the waste to where it came from.
Hats off for the quick resolution but it’s still galling they had to put time, manpower and other resources into cleaning up after lazy, inconsiderate slobs.

It was such an event for us we recorded it all, and the delivery man seemed very camera shy. A week later there was a knock on the old house from Wolverhamton Council asking about the residents, and neighbours told him where she had moved to. Even tho we had been careful not to bin anything with personal info a childhood diary from 1973 ended up in skip, and that led them to mums address. Fortunately we had evidence that we had paid for skip and could show the driver responsible. We never heard anymore but presume that they were prosecuted. Just to say it is not always cowboys.

    • @I_Don_t_want_a_handle

Cost mostly. Each car would have to be checked and, if necessary made road-worthy, before the council released it to the auctioneers. Any car that made it through this process and then failed and caused injury would be an insurance liability to the council. They cannot legally disclaim, IIRC. The cheapest option is to crush.

They should be publicly hanging these vermin.

Anyone caught fly-tipping should also be given community service, clearing fly-tipping sites.

Tip fees in Australia basically make it not an option but I usually find ways around that without vandalizing the place.

Having recently worked for a local council I know how much money this wastes that is needed for schools etc, almost it's a bloody eyesore

The council dump should be open to all that want to use it free of charge. No pre booked appointment. No banned vehicles. No permit to use the site needed.

what a waste crushing perfectly good cars, if you confiscate it it could be sold and this would keep the carbon footprint down because there would be no need to make another car with all of the pollution that it would entail and the money could go back into the nations coffers

There’s no reasonable priced waste sites in the UK, we’re paying extortionate prices at the ones what are there. The reason most people fly tip is because their council’s offer nothing for small business

I grew up near Wolvo. Good work! I can't stand fly tippers. I was driving down a lane near Maidenhead one morning about 8 years ago at about 45mph on the way to work & had to pull an emergency stop because some idiot had dumped a huge mountain of rubbish right in the middle of the road.

So glad there's 1 less mk1 juke on the roads. Think it's very dangerous for drivers having to close their eyes or throw up in their lap
