Blaire Ronzel there’s still artists today who use the more traditional synth sounds tho like The Weekend, La Roux, and M83, those are the most authentic new wave revival acts of the past decade.
Oh hell yeah "I remember a feeling coming over me . . . " sounds so majestic . . . I have heard this song over the last 30 plus years and only found out what it was in the last 3 days . . .
Terri Nunn was one of the most oustanding front women in bands of the 80s. When Debra Harry went out of the picture to care for her sick boyfriend; which I admire her for; she left an empty space for ultimate rocker blonde. But then along came Terri and Berlin...just amazing. Bless both those charismatic women who blazed a trail of great songs and memorable performances. Both deserve their place music history.
Hmm, new wave was a term invented by a music exec who didn't like the tag punk so he forced all new or different sounding acts on his label to be described as 'new wave'. Much has been written about it but 'New Wave' was merely an exercise in rebranding.
No kidding, I can't listen to the music that's out today. Absolutely horrible. There's no meaning or anything behind the music that's being played in this era. So sad!!!
+Kevin Foster I agree im 34 and I only listen to 70s 80s and 90s three eras when bands still had actual talent none of this auto tune crap we have now a days and granted sex has always been a good seller but now a days celebs are just raunchy celebs didnt used to have to be raunchy to be sexy.
I’ll go as far to say they’re one of the most underrated bands of the 80’s. People usually just think of Take My Breath Away and cast them off when they have tons of good songs! The Metro, No More Words, Matter of Time, World of Smiles, Tell Me Why etc. they have some real good stuff and are super talented. Great live performers as well.
Great performance. I like to mention the brilliance of songwriter John Crawford when I can, because everybody just talks about Terri, but ... my God, what a GREAT performance from Terri! I dig the subtlety with which she makes each lyric fresh. Also, always thought she was hottest with this look, more so than the "No More Words" look. I really wouldn't object if fashion instantly reverted to 1982 right now.
In addition to John there was David Diamond's synth work and arrangements. He, Terri and John were/are Berlin. I don't know if you follow The Berlin Official Facebook page that Terri maintains, but she, John and David have been doing more and more gigs together in the California area. It's great to see them back working together from time to time. All wounds healed, all fences mended. It was mainly the falling out between John and Terri that hurt them the most. David and Terri have always been close. :-)
Thanks, that's great to hear the classic three are back together! I might very well follow their Facebook page. I'm already in fan groups about the Cars, Joan Jett, and Kim Wilde, so . . . kinda obvious, really! Any "best of the 80s" list has to include Berlin!
Saw them in 1984 in San Francisco at The Warfield Theater. I still have the drumstick from the show. Great performance. I think Talk Talk opened for them.
I was also at that show, and Talk Talk was the opening act. Did you go to any other shows at the Warfield that summer? Best summer of concerts in my life. I remember seeing Simple Minds, Thompson Twins, Thomas Dolby at the Warfield, and at other venues The Pretenders, The Eurythmics, Howard Jones...I know there were more. What a magical year 1984 was for concerts!
I love this. how come people today dont dance anymore. now everyone just wave there hands in the air in todays concerts. it sucks!!! Back in the 80s people danced! I LOVE IT!!
The OP was six years ago as of this post. Now they don't even raise their hands, just take selfies with their phones or record the concert for 'likes.'
This was filmed at The Hollywood Palace. Great memories about it. I remember the intro track for this tv show. It was Romeo Void - Never say Never. If you can upload more from the "Rock of the 80's" which was broadcast on Showtime, by the way .. It'll be awesome.
2019 baby!... 80s great memories...I use to have a flock of seagulls hairstyle and my parachute pants...lol!..Absolutely love it!...real talent here folks!..NEW WAVE BABY!..
I saw them perform live at a dance club when the album was new. She was incredible. I only remember her with three synthesizer players. Amazing . I am trying to find out what keyboards were played.
@johninfl It was a show called Rock of the 80s and featured 3, 4 or maybe more bands (A Flock Of Seagulls is the only other one I can remember). Stage would rotate between bands. Berlin did three songs - The Metro, Tell Me Why & Sex. Search for 'Berlin Tell Me Why Live' - there's a vid with both TMW & Sex on the one vid. Terri ditches the red jacket after The Metro...
I was 11 years old born in 1974 living in Orange County California all I did was Breathe music add my own B&G Tape collection. A musician at a party my mom took me to told her after me and him held mysic conversations... he told my mom put a instrument in his hands and he will be famous... save u all a story that didn't happen. I play drums and have a voice but save it for few.. stay true! Good night.
I'm not comparing but to this day I never understood the extreme endless hype of Blondie while Berlin never got the attention they deserved and are kinda forgotten today. Berlin were one of the very few bands who did european synthpop with an actual female singer and were kinda ahead of their time. Debbie gets all the praise while Terri had the badass voice and was way better at performing live. That's what I see at least. When I watch live sessions of Blondie I get bored after the 1st song already, while I could watch Berlin perform live endlessly. That petite person opening her mouth and such a big voice coming out, always drops my jaw. I can imagine if Berlin were based in the UK scene their whole legacy would've been different. If I remember right they actually got turned down in the US in the beginning for sounding "too european".
I don't care about thumbs up. I don't write comments to get attention and applause, unlike you. Your statement is the idiotic one, but well, haters gonna hate amirite.
With all due respect to the newer musicians in Berlin who do a great job, I have to agree with "uncleelmer" below. There was that special chemistry with this group of people. Except that this drummer left for reasons of religious faith. It would be like removing Brian Wilson or Al Jardine from the Beach Boys or McCartney and Lennon from the Beatles. It just would not be the same. Also most of the musical parts in these great songs were created by this group of musicians. Without that originality all you have left is players playing other peoples music much like a tribute band. It's also the personal relationships. Of course still having Terri Nunn singing the songs keeps it real, since she is the front person goddess channeling all the musical energy.
You didn't even have to preface that with the "I'm not gay at all" part. Nothing gay about wanting to look like a young and handsome guy. I'd be happy just to look like myself at 18.
Sounds VERY Ultravoxy. ;) "The Metro" could be a "third brother" to "Sleepwalk" and "All Stood Still" imho, if only Ultravox would compose it for "Vienna" album in the meanwhile.
Here it is 30 years later and anytime I hear a synthesizer...it's completely magical sounding to me...Time machine please take me back!
Break out that dance.
Blaire Ronzel there’s still artists today who use the more traditional synth sounds tho like The Weekend, La Roux, and M83, those are the most authentic new wave revival acts of the past decade.
Working On It
Yes I love the Synthesizer so much.

I’m 24 but I love music from the 80s
I heard this song on the radio for the first time today and immediately had to Shazam it! It’s awesome!!! 😍
I love that the younger folk dig our music😊😊😊😊
Berlin is one of those bands that shows the link between punk and new wave.
i agree... propaganda too...
Hmm, new wave was a term invented by a music exec who didn't like the tag punk so he forced all new or different sounding acts on his label to be described as 'new wave'. Much has been written about it but 'New Wave' was merely an exercise in rebranding.
I absolutely loved Terri Nunn and this song! 80's music was the BEST.
Wish there was something like this today.
No kidding, I can't listen to the music that's out today. Absolutely horrible. There's no meaning or anything behind the music that's being played in this era. So sad!!!

is she still alive
Yes she is and she is still hot as hell
This performance kicked ass. 👍👍
I always finding myself coming back to this video, it just makes you wish that you was there.

One of the best live versions I’ve seen!
Oh the days of my twenties , clubbing with my friend , oh what decadence ...loved it !
Saw them in 1984 in San Francisco at The Warfield Theater. I still have the drumstick from the show. Great performance. I think Talk Talk opened for them.

@@andrewalbertson1 Sounds awesome, what an incredible gig. Is your band still together/touring?
Absolutely Amazing!! artist like Terri Nunn of band Berlin, with spectacular voice quality, deep and high voice and excellent performances live!!
David Diamond, John Crawford and Terri have great musical chemistry. They are Berlin. There is no Berlin without them all together.
Such an awesome version of this song!!
The girl dancing (and bouncing marvelously) @1:46 should be launched into a space capsule for all time. Wonderful.
I love this. how come people today dont dance anymore. now everyone just wave there hands in the air in todays concerts. it sucks!!! Back in the 80s people danced! I LOVE IT!!

She's a captivating performer. You really can't take your eyes off her, bona fide star.

Wowww....As fresh as ever after 41 years. That makes me feel as mature as a good wine!!!
Love this performance so much.
When I think New-wave, this is the first song that comes to mind.

1980s new wave and alternative was overall the best genre of music ever.
i agree
Very modern song, I LOVE IT!!!

Brilliant! And Terri looks better Now!! One of my absolute favorite 80's bands!!
This is some kick-ass '80s shit!
She has the same stage command as Stevie Nicks. The similarities are insane. 80's were awesome!

you have no thumbs up for a reason. Berlin 3 good songs, Blondie 30 great songs... idiotic statement

Amo essa banda, meu gosto musical ficou estacionado nos anos 80 graças a Deus
I like it because band members in the 80s dressed nice in public. Looked better and more Respectful.
