- I interviewed Peter Frampton via ZOOM about his newest project, a recently announced 3 LP box set (as well as on SACD) to be released by Intervention Records, cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering from analog tape.
Intervention Records recently announced a Peter Frampton three LP box set covering what might be called a "donut hole" solo period for the guitarist/singer-songwriter.
He'd been in Humble Pie with Steve Marriott, but left to start a solo career. Eventually it paid off hugely with "Comes Alive" superstardom, but previous to that, he released a series of excellent albums, including "Winds of Change", "Frampton's Camel" and "Frampton", the three records included in this Intervention Records AAA box set.
Despite the music, the sound and the outstanding production by the biggest names at studios like Olympic and Electric Lady, two of these records ("Winds of Change" and "Frampton's Camel") charted poorly. "Framton", the breakout that went Gold, includes highlight songs from the double LP live album.
I spoke with Frampton about his long career, starting with The Herd, then about his Humble Pie musical relationship with Steve Marriott and then about going solo and staying with A&M Records.
Finally, we got to the new box set and he discusses the muscular degenerative condition with which he's afflicted, and the Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund (www.hopkinsmyo.... You're sure to enjoy this 1/2 hour interview!) he's set up with Johns Hopkins. You're sure to enjoy this 1/2 hour interview!

Peter is a class act. I have seen a few interviews with him and he doesn't change. He is very down to earth and always speaks kindly of others.
Peter is great! He is so real and seems so nice and sincere!
What a fun, entertaining interview.....just a couple of great guys sharing stories and talking about music. We are so excited to be working on this reissue project with @MrPeterFrampton. Thank you Michael.
What a wonderful human being Peter Frampton is. Im excited that he is still working and cannot wait to hear his next album. More of these please. A+. Credit where credit is due 👍🏻
What a wonderful and insightful interview. Peter is a warm and sincere human with amazing humility! Thank you for sharing this.
Humble Pie "Live at the Fillmore" double LP used to sell at a single LP price back in the day. I used to say it was the best deal in rock.
Thank you Peter and Shane for putting out the Records and Peter and Michael for the Interview. Peter is such a nice person with such a good Attitude. I see the Chris Bellman will be cutting them so I am sure these records will sound great!
We will do our best to get the word out. My First concert was Humble Pie and Wet Willie. This was a bit after Frampton left the band, Grew up on Frampton Comes Alive and got to meet, see and hear Peter perform In Salina , Ks with the Bass Player from Kansas Stan Sheldon! It was one of the best shows ever! We also pressed a few of Peter last 2 or 3 Records at QRP. Anyway loved the interview and learning about the History!
What a great and fun interview. I have all of those early records and, of course, Frampton Comes Alive. I first saw Peter Frampton at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, California. This was the year before Comes Alive came out and he became a megastar. I just remember what a fantastic show he put on with his band and his guitar playing! Wow, what a great guitar player. I still bring out Frampton and spin it on my turntable and brings me back to those teenage years. Looking forward to getting that box set. Thanks again for bringing the interview to all of us Frampton fans.
I grew up in the Bay Area and my uncle got me into Peter, and so many other artists I still love to this day including The Flying Burrito Bros (yes, he was and is an eclectic!). I bet he was at this show! And he used to be into photography and back then you could take big camera setups into shows. He has some amazing pix from those days!
What an amazing human being!
Great man and great player!!
COMES ALIVE is an absolute classic and the best selling live album of all time...

Class acts, the two of you. Thank you for this.
I remember when the repackaging of HUMBLE PIE As Safe as Yesterday/ Town and Conutry came out while I was in High School. I believe Natural Born Bugie was included??? I also have that JOHNNY HALLIDAY CD Peter Frampton, Page and Small Faces , Pagey and Glyn John's were involved in!! Great interview- I saw Mr Frampton recently and mentioned I'm gonna see him this Summer. Can't wait. Thank you for giving the fans all this great music over the years.
Going to see him in Clearwater, day B4 my birthday! It's a dream come true moment, only been wanting to see him since I was 9 when Frampton Live album hit!!! So excited
Alright, Something's Happening !!
My wife and I saw him play last night at Foxwoods Casino!!!! Saw him for the 12th time! Last night was the best show we ever saw! He played for 3 hours straight without a break!! Fantastic interaction with the crowd! Brought tears to our eyes!
I loved this guy since I was 14! Show me the way is the most beautiful song ever. Peter still is a beautiful person in and out.
Frampton. Badass and all class.
Peter is so kind, such a great person and fantastic musician!
Fremer! Wtf? My god you interviewed the most under rated and most disrespected by the so called RRHOF. My respect for you just doubled. I hope the interview itself reflects his due accomplishments and provenance as a great guitarist. You MUST do what you can to let the RRHOF they have to stop blocking Peter. I know they are deliberately keeping him out. Just look at the Steve Marriott circumstance. And what’s the “announcement’? Thx for doing this. Long overdue. ☮️
well, watch it!
@@trackingangle929 I did. Not bad. What’s the announcement? The radio thing?
@@DC-xx4kv Our Ltd Edition invite box set featuring Wind of Change, Frampton's Camel and Frampton remastered 100% Analog by Chris Bellman!
Great interview! I loved seeing Peter in concert a few years ago.
I know it's a cliché but I got into "Frampton" from the "Frampton comes alive" record! Which reminds me, I have to get a cleaner copy!🎉🎉
We can help ...
Great interview Michael. It's great to see one of our heroes sharing his early years. What a wonderful story for this very talented man, "Peter Frampton".
Got to see Peter in concert several times during the mid seventies in Southern Cal. I played the Frampton Comes Alive album till it was worn out!
From Blacksheep, to his music, till RIGHT NOW, Pete Frampton is a GOD! I'm a 70s kid, and a HUGE part of the 70s, was PETER FUGGIN FRAMPTON! MAN, I miss those days!
"Frampton's Camel" was by FAR his best studio album......
Saw 7 3 2023 in concert.
Guitar player extradinare.
Peace ✌️
A lovely interview, Peter seems like your ordinary, average guy and not a bit pompous or bigheaded! Well done Michael, keep up the great work! Such a joy to watch your interviews, compared to the 'amateur' RUclips influencers! Wink! Wink! They know who they are!
Wow, I love, love Peter Frampton!! ❤❤❤😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
Wow...what a great interview...nice job Michael👍 I am the biggest Humble Pie fan and was really hoping you touched on this.....and you did. The first 4 albums with Peter are the bands best in the catalog in my opinion...still searching for minty copies of Town & Safe to replace the US comp that currently have. Peter seems like the nicest guy in the music industry and his recent autobiography is a great read....great interview
Love this interview love Peter Frampton❤
Peter Frampton..WOW. What a down to earth human being. I love his music and him as a human being and what an incredible artist, I love the guy ! Great Video!----I would more than likely buy a Frampton Boxset
Outstanding!!! Thanks
Great interview / to fill in all the blanks, I highly recommend reading Framptons autobiography. A very enjoyable read.
What a great interviewee. Open, humorous, humble. 👏🏻
What a delightful, fun and insightful interview!
WOW NICE INTERVEIWING PETER FRAMPTON Thanks Michael💞
Great interview Michael! Frampton is a legend and super nice guy, watched a longer interview on another channel he did and he couldn't be nicer. You're a very good interviewer Michael.
Best interview I’ve seen in years, very enjoyable, Thanks guys.
What a great interview Michael. Speaking together like old friends, just chatting away!
Great interview. I don’t have those records but I’m looking to see where I can buy them now. Thank you both for your insights and knowledge.
The both of you are.... well magic. :) Very moving.
A thoroughly delightful, amazingly talented fellow, who seems very happy and satisfied with his life and legacy, yet still remains humble. It’s heartbreaking that he’s had to retire from the road, but I hope he’ll stay in contact with his fans. Michael does a thoughtful and well-informed interview in a gracious and pleasant manner. Well done all around!
I've followed Peter since Humble Pie Live which I love. His first three records are so beautiful they were mesmerizing. His writing and performance are so unique and special. And everything he's done since is great.
"Forgets the Words" is really enjoyable, I can just put that on repeat.
Part of the soundtrack of our lives.
Thank you Peter-
Cheers 🎉
Absolutely fantastic! Witty too! Who's next? Neil Young!
Trying for that one

Great interview, Mr. Fremer, I am a big fan of Humble Pie, and Peter Frampton's. You are a great interviewer, also a fan of yours for years. Love your humor Micheal. I have bought the Pie remasters, on vinyl of coarse, and a beautiful job on that set, 1970/1975. I am also a big fan of Pete's, I have most all of his music as it came out new, in the 1970's. I am interested in the remasters, for sure. I love the early albums the best. Alway's thought Something's Happening could have sounded so much better than it originally was released. I will keep an eye open for these Frampton releases. Can't wait! Love ya Mr. Frampton, bless you, and...., Micheal too!!.......🍁
'Thrift Store Frampton', wonder if he knows?
nearly half a year after he left HP I saw them on tour w/ Peter in '72 @ Sacramento's old Municipal Aud. with Boz Scaggs and Slade. wtf??
Great interview man Peter is a really cool chill guy. That Yoko Ono story was pretty funny... So apparently the impersonator heard Peter come on the show and thought she could get one over you?
Brilliant lovely interview Michael, Mr.Frampton was just great, could’ve listened to you and him for hours so thanks so much Sir … Greetings from Liverpool 🏴🇬🇧
I didnt realize PF was on all these other Lps in my collection - Harrison, Nelson and Entwistle!
I loved humble pie but i think if the other 3 small faces had agreed to let peter join they would have reached stones who led zep status i.dont think steve was comfortable playing lead guitar as well as singing he was a reluctant frontman as for humble pie not many bands could touch them live
I love this man...as I loved Steve.
Pete lives in Cincinnati. Nice guy.
I just listened to these albums to see if I would like them or not. Wow, they are really great. What a great songwriter. My order is in...it is very expensive, mind you £185...
Nice interview, thank you Michael!
unbelievable. i just bought 4 japanese pressed frampton OG lps including "comes alive" for little $$ and this video gets upped. thank you mr fremer🎶🎵🎵🎼🎼
Mr. Frampton, I'm 49 and I'm a new listener of your music, believe it or not. Of course I had heard your music from time to time, but until recently I had not known who was the artist. Sort of like listening on the radio or whatever and just never knowing who made the music. I've only been getting into music for the past three years or so. I heard a song off of Frampton Comes Alive on Roon and I was immediately hooked. I got me the album immediately off of Discogs and then all of a sudden the box set was announced and I immediately got in line for that. Then I went to HD Tracks and got some FLAC. So, the new listeners can be us older people too LOL. Thanks for the video Michael!
Hey finally subscribed...thanks Mikey
I wonder if this cat remembers playing the old Fort Hood Stadium circa 1999 or 2000.. He had Eddie Money opening for him. Was a good concert.
Love this interview saw him in 81 front row met him on tour bus with other in back of concert venue fantastic memory
Why is the album Something’s Happening omitted?
I used to love the Herd as a teenybopper aged 11! Especially Peter.
What a sweet man!
Loved this chat...
So enjoyed this, thank you! Still love Peter's smile and laugh ❤
This is so fantastic. Wonderful interview. Thank you.
Great Interview
This was an Awesome Interview Michael 👍
Great interview - just what I needed tonight. Thank you!
Great entertaining interview! 🤙
he has been to hampstead ? "" uh, i've been there "

good job gentlemen!
Fantastic interview.
Nice interview. Peter Frampton played with my nephew in the Heard, the bass player Gary (aka Graham)Taylor.
The Herd.
He was also in fox wasn’t he , single bed , only you can ,imagine me imagine you all in the uk 1975-76 , believe he was also the voice that said zabadak on the Dave Dee dozy beak muck and titch , 👍
Very cool deep dive into the Frampton catalogue. Good to see Peter doing well!
Awesome
IMO, Frampton is MUCH better than Page, Beck, or Clapton. Frampton is a perfect balance of melodic, funky, and rock. By accident, my Own playing most resembles Frampton. The Bloke is an Authentic God of RocknRoll! We're lucky to even walk the same planet!
Fantastic! Great work, Michael. A very fun and easy going interview. Loved it! 🥰
U2 new album is very poor
Read the review on the TrackingAngle website
every U2 album is very poor
@@drssexy2142 they're a band who've been making records for nearly as long as the last time these two guys spoke! 43 years is a long time to have to need the validation of a man who calls himself..."dr Ssexy". peter frampton went through phases of not being cool but here he is defining the term. pick on a band you're the equal of, dr..
when Peter was an early teen his friend was Bill Wyman. Peter is a groovy guy
$160 for 3 LPs; not a bad deal.
