What paint did you use and what sheen?

I WAS AFRAID OF THIS, DARN IT... I NEED to put a ceiling fan in and this is in the way of that. It came with the house. Currently sitting in an 83-90F house since all four ACs are busted, and don't have the money to replace them. Ceiling fans are cheaper and as long as active air flow is happening, I can stand the heat and also open windows to push air in and out then trap night time cooler air in the house. I was hoping it was a screw and twist method. SIGH... Hopefully I can remove it without too much damage.

My ceiling fan is mounted right at the peak of our vaulted ceilings. Do you have any ideas for installing a medallion in an “elbow”?

A C if you have an obstruction take a look into medallions that are cut in half. You can then glue the 2 pieces together on the ceiling. I have not tried this method and I would imagine its a bit more tricky because you want to make sure it does not slip apart while the glue settles.
