My viper temp indicator is around 200c after a long ride, didn't have it b4 the mods so not sure what the motor temp was prior of the mods. After a ruff ride of 110km I stopped and put 5$ gaz (at 1.30$ a liter). Top speed on a strait line 96km/hr but still had some room on throttle. LOVE THE MODS!

    What the hell Yamaha! Why don't they do this from the beginning. You are having so much more fun after u did the work to it. I'm way smaller than u but have always ridden huge race bikes that I can't touch the ground on and always fall over... I'm getting a ttr 230 and modding it... But after reading comments I'm gonna do it so I still don't sacrifice water intake protection.... Love the ttrs

    • @the.real.houseofbikes
      @the.real.houseofbikes  10 месяцев назад

      They build them to last and to appeal to most people. Also to meet emission requirements. You can always mod them and probably not a bad idea to leave the airbox alone.

    if you were looking for more low end power wouldnt you go with a smaller front sproket rather than a larger one? just a question ,not trying to be a smartass. im thinking hard about one of these bikes myself.
    nice videos you make by the way.

    • @the.real.houseofbikes
      @the.real.houseofbikes  6 лет назад +1

      Good question! Stock this bike is geared way too short, 1st and 2nd gear are barely useable. With the extra power from re-jetting, stock gearing would be just completely useless. I know the general rule of thumb for extra punch is to go for shorter gears, but in the TTR's case it's the reverse. I had looked this up extensively because it's counter-intuitive. But the results speak for themselves. The bike is just an animal now with the extra power and longer gears. My buddy says it feels like his WR250 before he put the race ECU on it.

    • @BADBRUIN71
      @BADBRUIN71 6 лет назад +2

      ok makes sense if 1st and 2nd were already too short stock. and thats great oil to run, Rotella is the shit. how does it work in 5th and 6th . whats roughly top speed

    • @the.real.houseofbikes
      @the.real.houseofbikes  6 лет назад +3

      I had done a few top speed runs on GPS when the bike was stock and hit 61.5mph... haven't had a chance to do the same with the bike modded, but it's definitely on the to-do list next year. The riding season is over here in Canada because of stupid winter. I definitely expect a significant increase in top speed!

    • @the.real.houseofbikes

    I love your videos man! I used to drive a 4stroke 150cc when i was young, i am considering buying a new dirtbike since im 24 years old now and i don't know if i should get the ttr 230 or the wr250, i am still at university so the price of the ttr 230 is very interesting but i im scared its not enough. I want to do like 80% trail and maybe 20% track. I can put some money to upgrade the bike if its a ttr since its way cheaper. What should i get in your opinion? Oh and i was told the ttr is way easier to maintan and more reliable :D thx!

    • @the.real.houseofbikes
      @the.real.houseofbikes  6 лет назад +2

      Epohx a WR250 is twice the bike a TTR230 is. Can't even really compare. I got the TTR cause it was my first dirtbike and it lasted me my 1st season. Besides the mods described in this vid, there's nothing else you can do to improve a TTR and its especially noticeable in the soft suspension. Once your pace picks up, you'll be maxing out its potential pretty quick. It just depends what your goals are. You mentioned track - this is not the right bike for track! But it is easy to maintain, all you need to do is oil & filter changes. The other 250 bikes will require periodic rebuilds but it's worth the trade-off when you benefit from the significantly added performance.

    • @spetzie5
      @spetzie5 6 лет назад

      I disagree. This bike is bullet proof and requires almost zero maintenance besides oil change and cleaning air filter. It will last a lifetime if treated well and it has enough power on the trails (once modded). I agree it is not a track bike at all, but if you are doing mainly trails this is the bike I would get for the simple fact that you can ride it to death with minimal maintence And money. A rebuild is expensive and if you need to do one once or twice a year (depending how much you ride) it adds up quickly.

      You're just about as tall as me and 20lbs heavier. You'll definitely notice the bars are very low so I recommend getting some bar risers and raised handlebars. I have Tusk 30mm bar risers and a ProTaper CR High Bend handlebar and it's now finally comfortable to ride the bike while standing. As for your weight, the suspension will be too soft once you ride the bike at anything above novice-pace. I am looking at upgrading the springs myself to be able to handle high-speed bumps, but haven't done it just yet.

      im about 5/11 and 215 and i hate my ttr 230. its a 2012 with it completely uncorked and a power core 4 exaust and i hate it. The bike doesnt have enough power for hare scrambles and there is no way in hell i can take it on a track. It was my first dirt bike and i loved the crap out of it in the beginning but now 6 months with it i am looking for more power. I really would not suggest this bike especially brand new

    I'm worried that if I do this that the bike will be extremely vulnerable to water. Especially dropping the bike in water

      Same as stock bro. I removed the snorkel from the top of the airbox but honestly it wouldn't change much in terms of water penetration into the airbox, even compared to stock. For water to even penetrate in there, you'd have to fully submerge the bike into standing water and it would still take probably 5 for the airbox to fill-up. By then, your engine would surely have stalled and no water would get in the motor. Look at my other video, the review of the bike stock, I dropped it (intake-side !!!) completely in standing water, and then opened up the airbox and it was completely dry. By the way, what I've put my TTR through, lots of people have said is very extreme and that I should upgrade.... and yet the bike handles the 'abuse' like a champ.

      Romanian Tractor I've watched that other video where you dropped it in water just a few days ago. I was just worried that I would be taking that great protection down to nothing.

      It's a valid concern, good on you to ask in advance. But it's really a non-issue in my opinion!

    Would just changing the gears have a really noticeable effect? My dad wont let me do anything more than that.

    • @the.real.houseofbikes
      @the.real.houseofbikes  6 лет назад

      Austin 3103 yes you'll definitely notice the longer first few gears and it will still be a nice improvement. Its an easy job to change the front sprocket. You can go with 15 teeth like me or maybe just 14 since you won't have extra power. Stock is 13.

      For sure my buddy and I are planning a weekend out their, I haven't really had a chance to ride on the trails yet. Only put about 5 hours on my bike..... Just a few questions mine didn't come with a manual roughly how many hours do you go until you change your oil.... and the rear tyre there's an adjustment thing was wondering if you have played around with that and what it does.... and have you tried playing around with psi in your tires?..... I also watched a similar video with a ttr230 with same set up #38 and 130main and the fuel adjustment screw he said all the way then back it out two full rotations have was the one rotation bang on or did you have to play around with it since this video

      I change my oil every 10hrs. I got an hour meter so that's how I keep track. For pressures, I was running 15psi front & rear but as the weather got colder and my pace increased, I started dropping to 12 front / 10 rear for a bit of extra traction. The adjustment you're referring to in the rear is for the axle itself, which is essentially how you adjust chain slack. Make sure it's the same on both sides. Just google "TTR230 owner's manual" and you'll find one you can download. As for the jets, I did them they way they are described in the video and haven't messed with them since... it's perfect this way. Hope this helps! Look me up on Instagram (Romanian Tractor) and send me a DM, we'll stay in touch that way and go ride in the spring!

    The problem you will have is it falling over into water. If you need more power, better to spend the coin on a stronger bike than risk destroying the one you are riding.

    Just buy a proper 250. This is stupid. Have you ever washed it in the 3 months? It looks like it's 3 years old.
