Wow, those riffs set me Free, and not only with conjuring Kossoff. Not just versatility in sounds, but versatility in great sound! Music is my delight, thanks again for those great demos. Just bought a 1964 ac10 twin. Maybe I'll try a demo?
Those silver bulldog speakers are so sweet. I have one in a custom cabinet, and paired with the right amp that speaker puts out the best old-style rock and blues tone imaginable.
ptalley316 I don’t know how you can improve on this tone, unless you need something catered towards high gain metal tones? I don’t think Marshall makes a better rock tone
I see an RCA blackplate 12ax7 in v1 and a telefunken in the phase inverter which is how I set up all of my amps. Plus a mullard in v2. Now put a boost pedal in front and turn it up for that magical Vox raunch.
Nothing beats a good Vox AC15/30 for the sheer complexity and shimmer. Better than fenders with the possible exception of a vintage Bassman (one of the high gain ones). They love low single coils like no other but vintage spec PAF's really shine too.
i can see why one of my hero's rory gallagher loved vox's so much he had an AC30 cranked and worked the volume through his beautiful battered 61strat and a rangemaster treble booster but that AC 15 with that custom is heaven and some of those chord progressions you played were superb all round awesome being a marshall lover can make you blind to other great amps and there are a few dumbles fargen straump hi watt anyway johan nice job though i would have preferred this vlog were at least 20minutes long as it sounded great well done.
Awesome tone! AC15 Twins like the Brown Deluxe you demonstrated recently are two of the best. I’d love to hear you demo a range of early Supro amps (other than the Thunderbolt). Particularly those with 6973 output tubes. My favourite amp is a 1963 Supro Supreme 1600. It would easily sit in good company with the AC15 and Brownface Deluxe.
Amazing!! On most demos the overdrive in Gibson through Vox is sponge like and flubby with no bass definition but you have got a tight drive tone Sir!!
I now note that he even used to use the Major(s) as a slave for an AC30 at some point too. Apparently the AC30 output was fed directly into the major power amp section, with the Major preamp bypassed completely. Not sure if they attenuated the full AC30 ouput or tapped the AC30 preamp output, but I'll bet that the info is all out there if anybody is interested to look long enough.
honestly!!!! you guy and another guy with a strat with a vintage ac30!!!! . . i would love two play as good as you guys!!!! . . i have a 1998 ac30top boost with stock tubes . . any suggestion on tube swaps?? . . i play hums, fender single coils and teiscos!!!!
if he just had the normal channel cranked it sounds terrific there, but it's weird, normal channel is well known to sound flat and muddy especially with humbuckers, hence the use of treble boosters or installation of the top boost channel
Johan's demos are the best because he can actually play.
Not just notes, but music, y'know?
+inyojelly that may be the nicest compliment ever! Cheers Johan
you just put into words, what I've been thinking for ages! Thank you!
Och tack Johan, i alla fall! Det är underbart!
+wofesc jävla kul att höra!
agreed! sometimes I come for the gear demo, but end up watching the video multiple times in a row for the music in them! Johan's music is awesome!
That was the best tone I've ever heard !
Delicious tone.....it's like falling in love at first sight...and knowing this is it...the person you will spend your life with truly...wow.
Your vintage Vox demos are my favorites! They have such a great tone.
Apparently J did not get the memo about short pants. Great Sound! Love these demos!
Alright, yeah that's a legit tone right there
+Isaac Ord Thanks :-)
love your sound!!! reminds me to paul kossoff!!! great playing!!!
Thanks, you make my day!

+e. tienne Thanks! Yeah it would be interesting to see your AC10! Cheers Johan

I love the Vox sounds!! Had a lot of top amps and now I’m a Vox-head:)

Nice demo. The '63 AC-15 Twin is my dream amp.
Nice playing, I like your style its unique.
Vox sound so f$@@$%ing good when you dial it in.Great playing helps also. Good job
les paul's and VOX goes great together great sound. :)
Great sound. great playing. love the way the LG custom sounds thru the vox.
Love your videos Johan! Greetings from Buenos Aires!!
+Juan Cruz Ortigoza Thanks Juan! Greetings from Gothenburg!
Best demos, thank you Johan!
Thanks! I'm really glad to hear it!
0:16 Love that riff. I'm considering buying one of these ('65 Twin). Thanks Johan!
Another great one Johan! These voxes definently sound different to both fenders and marshalls, i feel they might in between the two

Sounds great, Johan!
+LeftPaul1 Thanks!

+huskvarsm Thanks man! Glad to hear it. Yeah there are certainly other amazing amps than Marshall, even for Marshall type riffs. Cheers
I think this amp and the AC4 you demo’d sound shockingly similar!
Great sounding amp!
+mkii1964 Thanks!
I never played a vintage ac but i love the modern ac30´s
my favorite sound is a old slp mixed with a ac 30.
+DarkItachi1 That sounds interesting! You get the attack from the Super Lead and the warmth and tension from the Vox
Would love to hear one of those late 60s and 70s Teles you demoed through one of your Vox amps...
+Weltall 89 Yeah that would be a great match

Have you done a Vox comparison? AC15C2 VS the '63 would be nice.
+Shawn T. Bell No not yet, but I'll keep it in mind. Cheers!
I would love to hear Johan demo a new AC15C2
Really great amplifier and loudspeakers. It sounds like the amplifier loves humbuckers? Really nice and warm sound.
Sounds great!! Would be cool to see it compared to one with greenbacks in it, that's what I run my vox night train head with and it's great!!
+mike s Thanks Mike! I may get the chance to compare it to a new AC15 Custom. They sound a bit more Marshall like with Greenbacks. Cheers Johan
Love what you are playing at 2:03
These original Voxes had such a sweet sound, no wonder Ritchie Blackmore preferred them over Marshall.
+VoxPathfinder15R They did indeed
I had a vox pathfinder 15r. Better than any SS amp made today. Every bit as good as tube one of the greats for sure. Still trying to find another one
Used on the "Perfect Strangers" album, amongst others, apparently. Google should bear this out.
He didn't start using the Major until Machine Head. All of the early stuff was Vox 30s and 15s
I now note that he even used to use the Major(s) as a slave for an AC30 at some point too. Sick Johan!! Mine doesn't sound like that at all
Very nice !!!!!!
+Tom H Thanks :-)
yep. and this cat knows how to record a guitar. great tone
I wish I owned this amp!
you sound good through a Vox boy!! woo hoo!
+Jeremy Wilburn Thanks man, glad to hear it!
You're welcome, no problem. Man I want a 1963 Vox AC15 now.
Vox tone mmmmmm
honestly!!!! you guy and another guy with a strat with a vintage ac30!!!! . . i would love two play as good as you guys!!!! . . i have a 1998 ac30top boost with stock tubes . . any suggestion on tube swaps?? . . i play hums, fender single coils and teiscos!!!!
I just love auto correct. love the les paul custom thru the vox ac15
Hello Johan! Which speaker is indicated to achieve sounds similar to the celestion silver t1088?
Great. Its similar a early Blackmore tone.
TONE FOR DAYS
+maximilian warne Thanks man!
This amp sounds amazing Johan and fits your playing! Do you own some old vox amps?
Oo yes Telefunken tubes i love em
which channel did you used for this? It sounds amazing!
great stuff! do you own all these amps?
Looks to have had some mods done over the years. Do you know what has changed from the original circuit?
+CIPHER The circuit has been reverted back to original
I have an AC30 and can't enjoy it so much because I can't get it loud. What do you think is the best attenuator and how much is it?
+Timothy Nankervis Hi! I like the Weber mass and the Hotplate. They are usually 200 bucks used. Cheers Johan
What decibels are we talking? 100-120?
+TheSterlingSound it should be around 112 dB
+Johan Segeborn 112db!! I used to play my 63 AC30 at full tilt all the time.....no wonder I can't hear anymore!! :-)
+Chard Hahaha! We have to take the good with the bad. Cheers!
hi :) vox ac15c2 is louder than vox ac15c1?
Tasty Riffage!!
Thanks man! :-)
Killer!!!
This is a normal channel amp only isn't it?
No, it is a 2 channel amp. Brilliant and Vib-Trem.
👍🔥🎸🦅
top boost channel?
+kevin mask I dont think it had a top boost
if he just had the normal channel cranked it sounds terrific there, but it's weird, normal channel is well known to sound flat and muddy especially with humbuckers, hence the use of treble boosters or installation of the top boost channel
Telefunken's too!!!!
+elopdaT gorF :-) yeah, that doesnt hurt
I see some "refreshing" in but shots. But anyway this is great sounding and condition vintage amp
+Andrey Grygoryev Thanks Andrey!
