Singing this in front of a French audience was an extremely important moment in Dimash's life and career. Although "SOS" originated in a French-Canadian rock opera, "Starmania," in the 1970's, Dimash first discovered it when Gregory Lemarchal, a contestant on a French talent show, performed it emotionally several times just before dying at the age of 23 awaiting a lung transplant in the hospital. Every man, woman and child in France knows Gregory's tragic story and it was briefly mentioned in the talk just before Dimash began the song. Gregory had Cystic Fibrosis and had to sing, dance and act on that talent show with just 25 percent of his lung capacity. Nevertheless, he won that season's show and Dimash was inspired enough to grab the song with its emotional lyrics and make it his own. He was essentially singing the song in honor of Gregory here.

Choosing songs from his channel, with the most views, is a good chance to get the best versions.

C’était une émission télévisée très connue en France. En gros Patrick Sébastien le présentateur invite des gens du showbiz , acteurs, artistes de spectacle ou de cirque et chanteurs.Dimash a préalablement impressionné les techniciens lors de la répétition et on peut voir après en direct l’impact qu’il a eu sur les invités et le public. Il faut rappeler que c’est une chanson française très connue et considérée comme l’une des chansons les plus difficiles à chanter

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world!

“SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamondon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.

This is not the best one to react to, in fact its the first time Ive seen it. There are at least 3 others, which are probably better.
