I always start watching for the guitars, but I keep watching because of Lemmo. His playing is so diverse and melodic. I have to admit I'm kinda jealous. Still though Lemmo is a great guitarist.
Thanks to the Beatles, and rightly so many afterward, The Rickenbackers and Gretsches(exceptional awesome binding makes the Way cooler than gibson hollows), are the Most Stylishly COOL guitars to own. Les Paul's & Strats be damned.
The Rick is so unique, you've done a fine job playing it. Now Michael, if you could do an expose of what the potentiometers do,,,,,seems to be many mysteries around the controls,,,,,thanks a million!
The four main pots are just standard volume & tone controls. The fifth pot (“blend”) is a master volume for the neck pickup on 2-pickup Rics and for the neck & middle p’ups on 3-pickup guitars like this one. The blend knob takes the volume down from full to about halfway. On this guitar the pickup selector switch gives you the bridge alone in position 1, all three pickups in pos. 2 and neck & middle in pos. 3. Some folks mod this to other configurations, but this particular guitar sounds stock to me.
The scale is not as small as some people suppose. Take a guitar of standard scale length (about 25 inches), and put a capo on the third fret, and you will have the same fret spacing as a Rickenbacker 325.
Nice 325V63! Jetglo is black in Rickenbacker terminology. Natural would be Mapleglo, Cherry Sunburst would be Fireglo, White would be Snowglo, Tobacco Sunburst would be Autumnglo, etc…
Think every guitar player needs some kind of off brand semi hollow/ hollow body. For the sakes of variety. Gave a $600 casino I got recently a an A1 fret level, crown, and polish job, rolled the edges, bone nut, intonation and set up. Wow, that guitar is hitting way above it's weight class. Feels like a custom shop guitar now. See the potential in a lot of these off brand guitars. They can be serious instruments if you have the means to fix em up.
Like everybody who wanted to become an electric guitar player after watching footage of the beatles, I wanted this model. What do you do not know is that I wasn't going to get to play one until after I had learned how to play guitar on standard scale instruments. When I finally did pick up a 325, I was a little disappointed at the short scale. Even though I imagine that my hands are smaller than John's hands, they were still ill suited to playing this model. What does Jen squeal at the end? Tammy Wynette?
but but but - you were doing George 12 string sounds way too mellow.... the 325 sound is John's ham fisted tight chuk chuk chuk chording as on Roll Over Beethoven and I Want To Hold Your Hand and the triplets of All My Loving, or the nasty lead break he does on You Can't Do That !!! 👀 🎸
@@blakemcnamara9105 Negative. Just play a 325 and you'll see. Play a 160E and strum opening chords to This Boy and you'll definitely hear the difference. The jangle is different and you can hear that on Ed it's the same sound as on record and yes, they played Ed Live. 🎸
@@Trombonology Everyone has their own personal life and personal problems. I just made a comment as a fan of the channel, who appreciates and enjoys Lemmo. Nothing else.
Not everyone has the same size hands. Small hands, this guitar will work. Large hands, unplayable. The Mosrite guitars also had close string spacing which I considered unplayable guitars.
I hate to be the cork-sniffing type but I too would prefer if they pronounced it correctly. And yet, this “rose” by any name is still just as sweet imho 😅
Rickenbacker’s dealer relations is so poor that most stores don’t cary them, and as a brand they’re so snooty that you as a consumer are not even allowed to know what the msrp is. It seems like they don’t even want us to buy the guitars, so why should we pronounce it correctly?
@@starchores you could spend 5 mins on the internet and find out the msrp for most models fairly easily, but my understanding is that they believe enough in their product that they trust serious customers will be willing to spend more than 5 mins of their time (and money) on a quality product, with upfront cost not being the primary concern. Whether it’s worth it/makes sense remains in the fretting hand of the beholder, but it’s difficult to call it a failing business model given their history 🤷♂️
@@IIllIIllIl Could you imagine how upset people would be if Gibson didn’t tell you the list price and you had to google it to find out? Could you imagine if you got a custom guitar from a luthier and they refused to give you a quote because the purported craftsmanship is so good that it would be tacky to talk price? It just leaves a bad taste in the customers’ mouth. But going back to your original point, if the guitars, the legacy, and the business model were so good, people would know how to pronounce the brand’s name.
You don't know your Rics. There was no such thing as V or C series. Lennon's was a straight up 325, period. V series was created to milk the Beatles legacy. The bracing and pickups were modern spec. I know this because I own a '96 325v63. The C series is a supposed direct copy of Lennon's actual 325 models he owned. Those have vintage specs inside and out.
No collection is complete without a rick 325....thank you!
I have a kit build underway, that’s the closest I’ll get to owning a Ric for a good while.

😅. When Lemmo played "If I Fell", I felt like putting on a suit and drinking a martini. 🍸
You played those Beatles tunes really nice Michael! Always enjoy listening to you! Bob Love
That was beautiful Lemmo !! Thanks Jen !!
I’ve laughed at so many players trying to play the short arm Ric. Even Sussanah Hoffs plays a full scale. Way 2 go. Mike Lemmo.
I used to think Ricks were some of the ugliest guitars but they’re growing on me. Fretboard looks so inviting.

Bridge sounds so good, great playing as always
Fabulous playing Michael, tonally gorgeous guitar.
Thank you ML. Terrific Beatles!

Awesome Beatles mix Mr. Lemmo!
How wonderful! Hail The Beatles!!
Bridge sounds amazing
Hello Jen ! 00:59
Beautiful guitar
We got a peak at the lovely Jen at the 0:59 mark reflecting off the tailpiece.
Great demo nice fresh approach to playing these Beatles hits
Very nice! Sounded great again!
Love how some people complain about how tiny and unplayable these are. In retrospect, I think Lennon and Fogerty did pretty well for themselves.
Excellent demo by Lemmo! I bet that guitar sold pretty quickly!

Sounds like any other guitar. I’d like to hear you play ‘green river ‘ leads and get that same sound that Fogerty got.
Egor Letov”s guitar 🎸
Great playing
V63 version with the blend knob. Different from the V59 with the Bigsby and traditional 4 knob configuration.
Nice to end on a George Harrison song though John was probably playing his sonic blue Strat for the rhythm guitar parts
ROCK the thing!! RICs can SHRED. RICs are NOT only Beatles jangle guitars.
I own a 325v63 and a heavily modded 320. These guitars are so versatile. Throw in some overdrive and these are amazing.
Nicely Done.
Sublime tones
To clarify: 3-way switch from Neck to Neck+Mid to Bridge?
Awesome. Thanks.
I didn`t know about a shorty.
Scale 20.75". Wow, short. Sounds great though.
Lovely ❤❤❤
Susanna Hoffs and Tom Petty
The third syllable of Rickenbacker should be pronounced as "back", not "bok".
Blimey, Lemmo must have got a hairbrush for Christmas
Sorry, but what was that last song he played? I liked it.
