You know, the picture of all those Ironman figures lined up has made me realize just how well Lego has treated him over the years. He always has exclusive leg-printing, he always has an exclusive face, and even though that one-piece helmet isn’t as nice as the other one, it was still made specifically for him, it wasn’t just reused to save money. Although, I’m not a fan of the new helmets. They look way too big
@@hagridsham1184 It’s funny, but that’s exactly what I was thinking. I mean, even the Lego Batman Movie version of BM doesn’t doesn’t have leg printing, even though almost every other major character did. Captain America has never had leg printing(the CMF figures don’t count), Black Panther never gets any, Thor rarely gets any, most major character just don’t get the same love that Ironman does
I'm fine with this new helmet. It's big, but the stormtrooper helmets also grew over time. I didn't realize it could open at first either and I like it more when I found out. I think it just looks a bit odd because we're so used to this old helmet.
The new helmet is very good but nothing will beat the original. Lego made the perfect design for the iron man helmet the first time. Lego keeps trying to make perfection better.
I think that the real reason they have changed the helmets is not only to lower production costs through it's versatility but also the facts that the original helmets came in separate bags meaning they were likely produced in China and not in Denmark as many detailed Lego pieces are. By producing them in Denmark with a quick reprint for different figures, manufacture, transportation and packaging costs can be cut too. Also, the reason I think the helmet looks too tall is that much like the recent Darth Vader and stormtrooper helmets, the LEGO design team seemed to be aiming towards making a more accurate design for their helmets for minifigures in spite of the unhuman dimension of their cylindrical heads. The original design had its eyes too far up making its forehead too short but now the forehead (most noticeable without the visor attached) has been enlarged. Although the helmet is more accurate because it closer to human head proportions, it looks unproportioned to the already irregular proportions of a minifigure's body.
I don't understand why they are trying to fix something that was already PERFECT! The old one is waay better than the two new ones. Really Unnecessary.
Because its not perfect. There is still much they can improve on from the original design. They should have made one similar to the phoenix customs version which Id argue is the best version of an iron man minifig.
7:25 Well, at that comment, I will say that in terms of Iron Patriot, we actually still need the Iron Patriot armor from Endgame. They could probably use that Star Wars Wrecker shoulder armor to help give an Endgame LEGO Iron Patriot that more heavy-duty look he had in the film. And since that shoulder piece has studs on the back of it, it would be easy to place his shoulder gun onto the piece.
I kinda like the new mold, I mean sure it’s a bit wonky but I love that LEGO decided to create a new mold so that they don’t have the mask be too similar to each other making it easier to recognize the different mask shapes. Also I hope in the future they do a updated MK 6, 7 and 42. I love the prints but LEGO could do better and they definitely will!
@@nukegames99 Yeah but it’s still not the Mark 42. I love the minifigure though, but I would love to see them update it and giving us a better detailed fig
As someone who owns all but one Iron Man figure (both MCU and comics), I really hate how the new helmet practically ruins the look of the collection as a whole when displayed together
LEGO did the same with Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet. Although the helmet has had a lot of different printing styles over the years, it was the same mold until a few years ago when it was redesigned, in a bad way, but still keep using it. At least LEGO listened to the fans and only used redesigned rebel pilot helmet in one set and switched back to the original since then.
The newest helmet works best for armors Mk39 forward, and select armors before. The first version is simply too angular for some more modern armors. The second version works best for other characters at this point, given how well the other two cover the armory.
I love the new mold, it’s great for the more wacky iron man suits and the original was never really accurate except to a few suits, otherwise it was out of date. Now they have a new mold to use on helmets that don’t follow the original mark 7/8 shape. Besides they’re perfectly able to use all three if they so desire unlike with the stormtrooper where they can’t really go between the two helmets.
I would love if Lego were to make something like a CMF of iron man suits updated with that new helmet. in my personal opinion it's far sleeker and better looking than the old ones even if I can't tell whether or not it's a new mold. it is quite upsetting for Lego to break continuity like that so offering up a CMF or something by those lines would certainly act as a solution.
When you compare the different Iron Man helmets together while EXTREMELY up close with the camera, of course you'll notice the differences. But in real life and they are sitting on a shelf a few feet away, how likely are you going to notice?? A specific RUclipsr who will not be named said the Grogu figure is "too fat" from front to back. I personally really like the new helmet. The older one felt almost overly detailed in a way for modern Lego, especially compared to other lego helmets, meanwhile the new one is simple but it brings it more in line and feels more official.
i feel like it would work for the iron legion suits but for actual named characters like war machine it just doesn’t feel right (that could be debatable tho since the printing is a little off)
I’m fine with the new helmets, all the Iron Man suits are slightly different anyways so a few different types of LEGO helmets aren’t a big deal. I’m more annoyed the Armoury design is different.
I find this one is all right but its a bit too tall and i dont like how the face plate has SOO much of the red bit of the helmet attached to it plus the original was perfect
I think they could keep the old 2 piece helmet for the regular iron man armors and for any others that it would make sense for(rescue or certain other irom man armors) use the new molds.
I prefer the new helmet The old one was really good but it was simply too blocky for the newer suits The new one is great for the mk 50 and 85 and considering all the different prints they could add on the helmet
I'm actually more annoyed they changed the build of the individual armor chambers from the first two hall of armor sets that connected and stacked together perfectly

Not gonna lie the first and second iron man helmets look better imo. Only problem is that there are inconsistencies like the armors in the hall of armor set and the difference of pepper’s suit mainly in the helmet shape (which i thought was a good idea for the time, as the helmet in the movie was different compared to any iron man armor). Hope it looks a bit better in person and grows on me. It’s nice to see that they’re at least trying to incorporate the advantages of both the first and second helmet in one. while I think the back of the new helmet is too round, long term this helmet is going to do well. I get that people want something consistent, but they can honestly just chalk it off as armor variations, and it's way more forgivable than using the one piece helmet mold for MK 1. Lego is actively trying to make things more accurate, something they don't always have the chance to do, so I don't exactly mind.
I know this video is 2 years old and no one really cares, but I heard one thing I feel like I need to comment on. "making those figures that you already have in your collection not only re-released but unfortunately not feel as collectible as they once were". May I remind you that these are kids toys? Something being rare isn't a good thing because that makes it harder for little Timmy to enjoy playing with their favourite character, or the version of that character from their favourite movie. There's nothing wrong with collecting or enjoying Lego, I have a few sets myself from childhood and adulthood, but I don't think the primary focus should be on how collectible a set or a piece is when it negatively affects children just trying to play and use their imagination, especially in a world where toys are overlooked in favour of tablets and phones now
im not fan much of new helmet face plate, yeah lego can do more with print but new helmet also looks bit to big i think for mini figure as original 2 piece helmet size looks more reasonable.
Lego rehashes pices that don’t always work, because it’s cheaper to not change the tool out. now I think the digger and to lesser level war machine, look really nice and well fit in my hall.
for me this helmet combine the best of both worlds like bruce banner said and its better than the old helmet and better than the avengers game sets of too
im probably just gonna swap around helmets to make it so the older figures have the older helmets, but then the later suits get this newer helmet as if tony redesigned the helmets after a certain point
I am at least hoping that since they went and made a new mold, that they are going to be releasing more Iron Man figures this year. I am surprised we never got a blind bag run of just Iron Man.
The first one, i traded a captian america for a iron man mini fig when i was a kid, and the helmet was my fav part so im bias toword it. Its way better then the newer ones
Lego took a risk when they created the comic book helmet, and it got a lot of criticism, so the put it right and reused the old helmets. Now they have just made the same mistake again, which i don't understand as the older helmet was already perfect.
Lego and consistency have never really went hand in hand. Look at Lego Star Wars. However, the plus side to this is that going forward, Lego can rerelease a bunch of suits. Also, just buying extra newer helmets will allow you to update your older MCU figs without compromising much inaccuracy
I guess I'm not as upset about the helmet change as everyone else because I just now started collecting mcu figures and don't have as many iron man figures as everyone else who already have so many.
I can't be the only one who thinks the new helmet looks hideous, almost like a knock-off. it's way too tall and thin, I think the last 2 are vastly better.
I really think that the original was the best and they’ll never make a better one. The one that doesn’t open just looks funky, and the new one is way oversized

There's nothing wrong with collecting or enjoying Lego, I have a few sets myself from childhood and adulthood, but I don't think the primary focus should be on how collectible a set or a piece is when it negatively affects children just trying to play and use their imagination, especially in a world where toys are overlooked in favour of tablets and phones now
I do home that they re-release most of the older iron man figs because as a newer marvel fan it would be amazing to get those in lego
The new one looks really good with certain prints
I see the complaint that it looks too big a lot. The old ones weren't small either. The thing about helmets is they'll always seems somewhat large
the new helmet looks like they stretch the old one
The one piece works more for the Mark 1 minifig
well it looks like they gonna keep that for mk1
When are you going to re-visit Lego Mario? It needs to be ragged on more! -Rama
Maybe it easier to put more detail on a flat surface
im not fan much of new helmet face plate, yeah lego can do more with print but new helmet also looks bit to big i think for mini figure as original 2 piece helmet size looks more reasonable.
It’s not a new helmet it’s the same mold but the face plate is red and the gold part is printed but it’s still the same mold
The first one, i traded a captian america for a iron man mini fig when i was a kid, and the helmet was my fav part so im bias toword it. Its way better then the newer ones
I prefer the comic/game one piece helmet over both the 2 piece helmets
Rescues suit is bluish purple so I think it fits.
i think it’s really really good
its kinda weird i love the old helmets but i dont know why it cant open im just sad
I think a good comparison would be the Darth Vader helmet change back in the day.
I can't be the only one who thinks the new helmet looks hideous, almost like a knock-off. it's way too tall and thin, I think the last 2 are vastly better.
ikr
Agreed.
ima be honest i thought the minifigure with the new helmet was a knock-off until i saw the set and was like: "what the hell it's real!?"
I just noticed that the sticker for the silver senturion has the latest helmet design instead of the old one
they probably gonna redo the suit
I really think that the original was the best and they’ll never make a better one. The one that doesn’t open just looks funky, and the new one is way oversized
I feel like the new helmet should just stick to ironmans infinity war and endgame figures
or anything he has that looks streamlined
