Yea that’s why I think I was having such a hard time with it because it was connecting for everything else. It was mostly just my maps. I was trying to get to show up properly. It will give me the verbal directions. Just have to plug it in to get it to actually show up the same. It made me feel like I had a setting off or something. Oh well Hopefully at some point, it will update and fix that issue. Kind of crazy since it’s a 2022.. thanks for the help!!!
Does the Apple car play have to be connected to the charge port in order to work? Or am I allowed to have it connected to Apple car play while it’s disconnected from the cable?
@@pamelamondi2710 because Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Explorer need a USB connection. When it's unplugged there's no need for that icon to display because there's no phone connected
I know! It's probably another 2 years before the Explorer gets the upgrade to the new Sync4 system that offers wireless CarPlay. A lot of manufacturers are in the same boat with dated screen tech
Can it show the phones app only with usb???? Thank
You can connect the phone over Bluetooth to make phone calls and stream audio!
Will it not do this without being plugged in ?
The current gen Explorer is wired for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but you can hook your phone up over bluetooth for music and phone calls

You're welcome!
Just wondering why the Explorer only has sync 3 and not sync 4
Product cycle - still a few more years before a facelift. I think it should have the upgrade done by 2024
Exactly I just got the Ford Explorer 2022 st with this screen and it sucks because I cant connect wirelessly 😡

Yes it has to be connected via USB. The Explorer doesn’t have the option for wireless CarPlay or android auto
@@CarsWithSteve ok thank you! I appreciate it
@@CarsWithSteve why does the android auto show up on the TV screen, but when you unpluged, the android icon doent

No wireless CarPlay option?
Unfortunately not yet.. Explorer should be getting an upgrade for the 2024 model though
On long trips can I leave my phone plugged into USB for Android Auto?
Yes, no issue leaving it plugged in for distance trips
It should help charge your phone battery also.
Does my Android phone charge when using Android Auto via USB?
Yes it would!
Too bad the phone needs to be connected via usb to use CarPlay. You’d think a brand new model would use Bluetooth or something.
