at least it still removes some collision, recently i've been having a lot of fun, and also, as a solo-q I actually started appreciating it because of the sheer amount of information it provides.
They went total overkill with invisible walls. I hit an invisible wall on Ormond going off of a normal hill... Not main, but a basic hill. Garden of (Pain) is also horrible to experience when you can't even leap off of the top floor.
Eyrie also has invis walls around most hills (sometimes you can get around them, but it's a bit finicky). It's one of the main reasons I dislike the map as a demo main :(
I straight up don't play demo because of all the invisible walls. The roofs I can't jump off, the hills and ramps I can't jump off. Slamming into an invisible wall when trying to make a jump that should work once was enough to make me never play him.
a similar thing would be red herring i guess, it might be an interesting perk rework to add vault points to it alongside the generator aspect of it (unsure as to how that would work in chase tho, if at all, outside of maybe using quick and quiet or smth)
Especially since Space Billy isn't even op, it's a fun novelty and a breath of fresh air in the usual blight matches. Very surprised they removed it, since I don't remember anyone abusing it too much (Space Billies 99% of the time had fun too).
BHVR's reasoning for removing it was because of space billies that just spent the whole match doing it instead of playing it the way they intended.@@Affax
@@Affax yea i never had the pleasure to learn how to play Space Billy but i have seen it a couple of times as survivor so much fun to watch a Billy launch himself in the air only to chainsaw sprint across the map back to you didn't feel op or broken going against
I feel infinite flashbangs would be a bit overboard, especially in saves, I definitely agree there should be an option to hold up to 3 like in RE2, but have like a 20 second cooldown so you can't just spam them to get a cheap save.
Also from a different perspective I'm a killer main who's hearing impared so being blinded is pretty problematic for me since vision is the primary way I can interact with the game so something like infinite flashbangs would make my life a lot more difficult
Not to mention aslong as you have the timings down, players are immune from pickup. Atleast with flashlights there is some counterplay with looking at walls and certain angles. Against a good flashbang team, you're forced into slugging gameplay and hoping its enough.
Flashbang requires you to complete 50% of a generator. That means that by the end of the match a player is highly unlikely to have had more than 4 flashbangs. Plus you can kinda stack flashbangs by bringing a firecracker. That way you can drop the flashbangs followed by the cracker
I’d say removing all of the invisible walls would be great considering that the majority of killer and survivor players don’t even seem all that fazed about space killers and such. It takes so much time and effort to get up there that you don’t even really gain that much of an advantage compared to just traversing around the map normally. It definitely prohibits the fun and flexibility of the game so I feel like there should be at least some sorta leniency on that. I don’t play all that much huntress, but I can definitely sense the frustration with all of the branches and messed up hitboxes. I kinda thought of a fun idea that could be done with the environment, maybe there can be some areas of a terrain (such as windows or loose boards or even the tree branches) that you can hit with your special or basic attack to strike down and open up those areas for a sneaky strike with huntress’s hatchets, Deathslinger’s gun, Trickster’s knives, etc. The visual would be made clear to the survivor and thus have to actively be aware of what the killer is doing and play around it, so I think it could still give a nice dynamic for ranged killers and maybe even a little more of a clearer view for killers and survivors when going around tall loops.
I like the idea of breakable cover, it has some merit. But it feels like depending on a map you'd end up breaking like 20 in a single game just to be able to make shots. And if you've ever had to play dredge on a map with a million lockers and you run past and left click every single lock, it takes a while lol.
@@uugh_3446 how exactly? I said get rid of the invisible walls because it takes the fun away from the mobility in the game and not many players even seem to mind it when they see killers messing around with the environment like with space Billy or all of the fun stuff you can do with Demogorgon. How is that contradictory exactly or are you just intentionally misreading my argument so you can find something to complain about?
I don’t see how removing invisible walls would be problematic since majority of the community love to see space demo or space billy even space blight that would be a fun change to do they should definetlly remove invisible walls
Right that’s my thought 😅 mainly 6 why don’t give survivors a gun and let it stun the killer vor 20 s. If you fall down and loose a critical chase you immediately lost
Good thing there is different funny mechanics that favors each side. Meaning in the end of the day, both sides will be able to experience fun and unfun moments. You are not supposed to win every game and part of the concept of game design is to oscilate the level of tension, meaning there will be times the game will be easier (maybe more fun) for you and sometimes will be harder (maybe unfun). So I prefer that these mechanics exist, increasing the game skill ceiling and creating surprising moments rather than having repetitive and stale gameplay.
@@UltimateBatator I agree most of the things that you said, but I'm not sure about the "you are not supposed to win every game". It is true to some extent, but let's be real... Nobody likes to lose due to external factors, like map rng, strong items/add-ons, strong perks or strong killers. Dbd at the current state doesn't fully reward skills if you play against a team or a killer who brought top tier builds. More base kits changes are needed for both sides. After that we can add even more tech.
@@UltimateBatator How about no side faces unfun stuff because of broken things? Optimization might go over board here and there but people wanting Release DBD back basicly so any progress the game made, all the GOOD changes that have been introduced would be in the garbage. Yeah no. We dont need bully squads to rise again.
i think dbd defnitely needs more variety and fun but reintroducing bugs or clunky movement isnt the right way of doing it since they can also get quite frustrating if youre on the other side of it and they are often very situational and skill dependent. they should instead introduce new movement options or other abilities in a regulated way so that everyone can use them and they are consistent and predictable.
I feel like if most of these were in current dbd there'd be more issues and frustration than good feelings coming out of it and fun. I would like to see invisible walls removed though and being able to leap from a ledge without sinking like a bag of bricks
Honestly, I disagree. A big part in why people started leaving is because forms of tech and build variety started getting omitted for the sake of balancing the game, which just left everything ending up very similar in the end. Some of these things definitely deserved to be removed, but the removal of such variety and harmless fun mechanics is what led the community to its' currently very competitive and rather toxic "I can't lose ever, let's use the best items/perks" mindset on both sides.
> that Actually Made the Game Fun Killer-side features/bugs: Just for fun/Too specific to help in 95% of situations. Survivors side features/bugs: Allowing to even more absurd chase survivability/messing with killers/bullying. Are you for real?
Yeah it did feel rather... survivor focused One things opens a chance or 2 for like 3 killers Another instantly end any chase permanently because the locker doesn't have a cool down and you can just get back in until the killer disconnects because you are literally invulnerable while awake
Oh definetly. I mean, look at Blight. Most of his kit is bug and jank exploit and if you call it out every Blight fanboy will try to crucify you for speaking ill of their golden child. Best to weed out potentially problematic bugs while you still can before the community claims them and threatens to riot if they are fixed.
@@dumblenutz5561well tbf there’s very little bugs you can pull off yourself that actually give you an advantage. The only one really being hug tech and every other is usually random chance like c33 allowing you to still continue after breaking a pallet or you just swinging, breaks the pallet but doesn’t end the rush.
@@brimp4989Not true at all. There have been tons of bugs in this game that were easy to pull off and literally completely made the game unplayable for the other side. Recently there was a locker bug that literally made survivors completely invulnerable and there was nothing killer could do about it.
well personally as a game designer myself, i am not a fan of this wacky chaotic fun things by a simple point, they are non intentional and said so they are unpredictable and tend to break the game very frequently and this type of break always becomes a "this devs keep doing skins and dont fix the game" argument, but many of them could be created as perks or added as intentional features
also if i were to create and implement a feature for the game it would be the adrenalin and focus, it would consist of a heartbeat meter for survivors, that would rise as they are in chase, running or shouting, being on a lower heart rate would make the survivor faster than normal, but being on a higher would make him slower, this would force survivors to have a limited time to be chased, so they would need to get the killer lost sometimes so they could walk and chill to run faster again... And the focus would be that when you touch the gen it takes 1,5s to it start working, not being able to tap it and you started with a big slowdown on gen speed that gets bigger with the adrenalin heartrate, as the survivor gets calmer and stays longer on the gen, he becomes faster and faster on it, ending on the same average speed as today. but with this change, killers would be rewarded by chasing survivors of gens and making hit and running, it would not be the best option to tunnel and camp, it would be most optimal to swap targets, making the most injured and chased one do gens while you chase someone else, this way they would be to tired and unfocused for gens... cchasing people around would be an eficiente gen slow
The Fake flashlight vault could come back as a survivor perk. Instead of abusing a glitch to trick killers, you would use a gameplay feature. (When you press the vault button, press the ability button to cancel the vault, you still make the jumping noise)
or maybe after being in chase for a amount of time u can bug a vault which when u vault it makes another loud noise notif and sound at that vault could go well with quick and quiet
Worst part for me is, that if that would be a perk noone would use it, but if it is for free it seems mega bad and frustrating Dont get me wrong I don't want it back either But... perk slots for survivors are just that insanely important and have the potential to gain soooo much value that the inconsistency would make that perk about as popular like the one that makes a gen explode sound on demand
@@Wolfy-rl1gm true and if it's on the window they are on already it would force a 50/50 for every blind vaulting spot (T shaped walls witha window for example) for every single window the killer sees... it might be stronger than I thought... just the existence would make looping as a whole Korean tedious for killers because yeah... guess at every window, maybe they have it, maybe they don't...
The day they make it so flashbangs can be stacked better be the day you can't get blinded at locker, or I'll be running lightborn every game until they change that.
Everything I hear is “Let’s give survivors tons of ways to abuse killers, because abusing bugs that make killer play unbearable is what survivors consider fun!”
@@LorgeDelta how about only take the relevant parts that are somewhat likely to effect all 1 hole on one map doesn't make any difference, well no meaningful one at least Sniping spots for a handful of ranged killers make no meaningful difference because we'll Trickster doesn't care about 1 knife in 5 out of 6 situations And then there are only huntress and slinger Space Billy... well it's 1 killer with a tech that arguably takes more time to do then just chainsawing and going there manually Apperently blight had something similar but I dont know anything about that So what is left? Invisible walls, arguably a more killer favored thing Survivors with triple flashbang, imma say very strong and survivor favored Survivor fake vaults, which makes any blind spot in a tile with a window a complete 50/50,so another rather strong survivor thing Rock climbing, well if they remove the ones where anything but ranged killers couldn't hurt you AMD even them not being able to pick you up and make it so killers can also take them, sure why not, until that happens rather strong sruvivor favored Aaand infi ite no cooldown 'end any chase' When a survivor finds a whole with a locker close to it Sure also more situational but that is basically a tile that makes you literally immortal until you leave, as you can knock the killer into a hole Go back into your locker And do it again For the duration of the entire match
Sometimes I really love coconuts insight into some interesting aspects of the game, and sometimes I absolutely loathe some of the videos where he talks about things that go without saying or are very unrealistic opinions (this video)
I don't see how he has unrealistic opinions here to be honest I miss some of these old things and while not all of it should be brought back I definitely think some of it was fun and fair
What's worse is I'd argue it doesn't even look 'good' in a way. It looks serviceable, but it just gives off some like late PS2 vibes on overall environment and character models. Edit: That said, a lot of these techs would be a huge buff to survivors with thousands of hours and I already hate going against high end SWFs to begin with. I dunno
If we talk about "net" in trees, i think fair enough to add in this list freacking BUSH on Eyrie. That 2-3 sticks from ground that are completely ruining fun sometimes for: BIlly, Twins, Bubba, Huntress, Deathslinger, Demogorgon and many other killers with ranged/damaging abilities. And if even with Bubba or Billy u can M1 guys in this bush, Twins can't do nothing about that. Like with a pallets rn(Victor can't normally jump over a dropped pallet to damage survivor((I feel ur pain, Lynxi))) Like invisible walls, my personal hot take - remove weirdo hitboxes like this, or do smth about it
The only one I have an issue with is the fake flashlight vault. That’s like if a killer could fake a pallet break animation, but in actuality, be walking around the loop.
Several killers already can fake pallet breaks. A lot of times killers stand at a pallet for a second or two to make survivors run away from the pallet and it works regardless of killer, though other killers with specific animations can fake it even better by using those animations. That said, bringing this bug back may not be the correct way to go about it, instead making it into a perk would be a good choice. If they do though they better not make it like Deception and instead give it a separate button.
I’ll take a quick second say that the word “skill” and “depth” isn’t exactly the best way to describe these mechanics. Space Billy’s, Demo’s etc are usually more accurately called “throwers” because they did space plays only, and as you saw on the clip, most of them would have all gens done with 4 alive cause their objective is to hit that 30 second clip. And all this other silly stuff that allows you to traverse the map by reaching weird spots is just silly for 99% of situations, and even a detriment if 2 survivors entered a imposible to reach spot and now the killer is stuck forever in the match. What I’m trying to say is that the correct word is simply bugging/glitching the game. When you play a singleplayer game and do a bug that allows you to walk on water, the fact you can do that doesn’t mean that you’re better at swinging your sword.
This!! The game isn’t about doing that gimmicky crap. A lot of people just want to play the game. Killers that did those gimmicks weren’t really trying to win the match. And survivors would just exploit the heck out of those impossible to reach spots. Not sure how that’s fun.
Huge disagree with both of you. Yes, there are ways to do these in ways that throw, and ways to do them advantageously-- That's how "Having options" works. If your issue is immersion, I don't know what to tell you, because Killers randomly slamming their faces into invisible meshes in the air is exactly as "unrealistic" as the space billy shit too. Yes, more choices equals more depth equals more opportunity for skill expression. You're correct that "Just do the thing every chance" does not a skilled player make, but the point is that sanitizing every fun thing out of a game is stupid. And there's a difference between protecting specific interactions (Ex. not updating physics engine at large to preserve SpaceBilly), which is excessive at the point it impairs development in sum, versus devoting development time specifically to FunProof the maps and kits. DbD is a 3d game. It is not a 2d maze, and the devs should not treat it as such. The only place I agree with you is in the scenario of actually unreachable survivor spots/2 way cuts, just because like you said they can arbitrarily stall a decent number of Killers. But that's not what they're patching out with the vast, vast majority of these changes.
I agree with most of these but I'm not sure about the fake vault one. I don't think it's comparable to manipulating the red light, it's more like if there was a glitch that let the killer make a missed attack sound and animation but without the slowdown, so a survivor who thought they could safely get another loop actually gets caught
I totally agree. I miss those times. Seeing demogorgon's and hillbilly's come flying around randomly always caught me laughing so much. Except for the times they landed a hit giving jump scares out of proportions. And the games where you kept dodging M1 hits over and over until you laugh so much you get downed cause you can't focus. It doesn't need a lot of change to become so much more fun. A perfect example to that was recently, when doing a gen with a Steve next to me and he failed a skill check. I looked over and he just stood up and staired in to the air for a second. It wasn't much, but it was so random that it turned out to be quite hilarious cause he was expressing shame over a skill check.
As someone who had played killer during that time I can assure you While you had a blast laughing I was pondering why I wasn't just maining nurse instead of doctor, not like survivors tried to make me have a decent time What I'm trying to say is Doding one m1 in 1 chase is totally fine in a chase 2 is... frustrating to see happen as killer 3 is a reason to just stop playing for the rest of the day I'm sure you had a great time But it's also the time that made me eventually quit because after a 2 minute chase with 8 spins, a insta heal a deadhard and old decisive strike to really rub in that playing anything but nurse is trolling and that lunges are only for the times when you drop from a lege
ngl i think a lot of times people forget that what's fun for one person/group may not be for the others. the head on bug certainly must've been fun for some survivors until bully squads probably overused it. cannot imagine from the killer pov for this to be "fun". it is rich for people to say 'isn't a game supposed to be fun" when 90% of what the community deems fun is just them being able to be shitheads. perhaps the implementing of game modes for veterans or whatever where they can do whatever they wanna do like that, would help it. cause if i queue up for a game, i wanna play the game and not necessarily depip for afk space billy or having 2 of my team mates head on fling the killer until they DC. but also as a killer i want to improve my mechanics with killers i am still learning and not have to 'be nice' to others for wanting to do something different.
exactly. Veteran players tend to be horrificly biased just because of nostalgia. I hate hawkins with all my energy, not even badham and haddonfield are as annoying as that unnecessary confusing crap. Yet, so many people seem happy af that its back, even when killers like wesker cant even use their power on hawkins. Even some killer players tend to be amused about the map, mostly veterans. Just because it is from "back then" not because the map is actually fun. And im kinda pissed ormond gets a rework before hawkins, makes 0 sense to me. BHVR move i guess. Friends that played hawkins before it was gone agree though, they all said the map being back will be annoying and they are right.
@@liandre9035 personally, i don't mind hawkins when i play a stealth killer like ghostface or sadako. even for trickster it can be interesting. as a survivor, though, finding the gens is horrible, and i used to play on hawkins BEFORE it was defunct and then came back. and even for ME it is horrible. i think some maps need rework like the swamp and coldwind, SWAMP being confirmed, but yeah. the invisible walls never made sense to me... especially when they were buggy and in the way of things instead of working. but for people to exploit walls for 'their fun' but then at the same breath complain about flying cheating survivors, when a pig should not be flying over pallets like that? man the entitlement, but that's just how DBD community is anymore... sadly. instead of those things, they should rework some older killers like myers who has no power unless using some add ons like the tombstones and whatnot... but they say myers is in a good place. so myers < ormond rework? or even ormond > coldwind???? yikes... :( i am with ya there dude
@@utsuboebi "Rework old killers" < this is the devs cryptonite it seems. They cant fathom the fact people would love to have diverse gameplay on both sides, not only ever having the same few killers being at the top, make them change places a bit with buffs and nerfs all over the places, like League of Legends champions. Why can we not have lets say pig or twins on the top for a few months? why does nurse has to be the queen since years? But we gonna change huntress and demo this year, the few killers noone complains about on neither side.
Having the movement be limited is a good thing in regards to how snappy movement was back then, it looks incredibly frustrating to try to track survivors who are within melee range with such a limited FOV.
The problem with re adding what is essentially bugs into the game like this is that likely, they might not be fun for everyone. A lot of these things are stuff that are very fun when you can do it against someone but it might not be as fun if you're new and you're the victim. particularily when it's unintuitive and unrealistic things. When a Billy Orbit drops on you and you're new you will most likely assume he's a cheater and it will make a negative impression overall. I do agree with the huntress branches and holes and I really, really agree with the idea of adding some of the stuff but in terms of perks. That would clearly visualize what is going on for new players and make it feel more fair towards them I beleive.
"Extremely smooth animations" my ass, people tend to break laws of gravity as a "game mechanic" of "dodging" although most of the "dodges" come towards killer anticipating a forward moving survivor's next move to be forward +- slightly to the sides, not a whole fucking backwards police handbreak turn after sprinting full speed forward. In other words - no momentum in movement, survivors can just shift their forward to backwards and animation does the sideswapping for them, but it's related to ping and could still play-out while survivor already changed where he moves, fucking up with the whole anticipation part, which they refuse to fix just because they can't find a solution to "intended counterplay" for range-attack survivors, and the counterplay is as easy as tying the map rng to the killer being played on that map, meaning if it's a ranged killer - add more sight breakers to the map generation, m1 killers - "balance" the ammount of pallets and windows to some standart, and etc. Yet it takes them YEARS to add something to the lobby screen like perks info, and a month to delete "when gates powered: break;" from batteries included code, and half a year to notice that wesker is grabbing survivors mid-animation instead of slapping them WHILE INVESTIGATING ANOTHER BUG IN HIM, after which they took another 2-3 months, somewhere in july-august after he was killswitched in june, to fix that already existing for 2,5 chapters bug in him. Nah, we ain't getting shit with how they prioritise something new instead of fixing old.
I think implementing ramps into pallet and window loops, like what is seen in the Singularity map, would give you that rock climb outplay while still being easier for new players to understand
thats a good point. making a game realistic can take away the fun. The devs dont understand what made their game fun and what kept players for playing for thousands of hours. Nerfing Billy, changing survivors' movement, removing clicking in a way that doesnt allow you to quickly change the orientation of ur survivor(for instance to initiate moonwalking), removing the precise timing required to get a flashlight save and probably more, took the fun away from the game. I was so excited about this game before for over 2 years, spending lots of hours each week and hundreds of euros for skins and now I barely play it anymore.
I remember that they removed legions ability to increase vault speed in frenzy with perks. They did it the update they released superior anatomy too :(
I think it's important to say that I started up playing when trickster came out, so I never got to have old movement, but to me it looks so...nauseating. and whilst i do definetly understand the appeal of being able to turn on a dime, I think part of the reason it got removed was because of all those misses it can cause. When a killer catches up to a survivor, they are supposed to hit them, yeah? being able to take advantage of killer's very different camera, while funny, isn't really a good thing for gameplay. Theres also the way that it enables mindgames to take superiority over reflexes. yes, reflexes are important, but having them trump mindgames means that sometimes interactions will just go down to framerate. Yes i know about the incoming FOV slider, no, I dont think thats enough to bring this mechanic back.
1) Some bugs may be fun for some, but painful for others 2) The best option is to divide the game into competitive and casual. In competitive, the rules will be applied as in torments where most bugs cannot be used or skills perks are somehow balanced, etc. In a casual, all this is more forgivable and hinders the research much more (for example, with a pig). But also, what works in one does not work in another (for example, player’s playing styles).
I lobe the spirit, but that idea is flawed A. Usually people expect a casual kode to prepare for a ranked mode, so it would be really frustrating to go as a survivor with all these gamebreaking bugs into a more fair environment where half of their tech skill is worthless B. There would be no incentives to play the casual mode for the side suffering from worse balance Why would pig go casual where she gets hit by 12 flashbangs in a row while comp has 1 per person, so worst case 4 in a row The wall tech ain't worth that for most. C. Splitting up player base like that makes queue time a lot longer especially because there is no incentive for either side to leave their more beneficial game mode D. The non competitive mode could become the home of the worst filth of the community Bullysquads that wanna have a laugh at people learning the game, so they go for casual Nurses and blight slugging people with 1.5 hours of gametime 4 survivors who all just hide in random spots because they think hide and seek is funnier. I know it's not popular to compare, but look at overwatch 1. In the og version silly stuff was in normal and ranked, every now and again you found some janky 6 reaper lineup, but most of the time was normal Then they split into serious and silly, where you would only face the dumbest shit in silly every game, because hey if you wanted Nirmal games you'd be in serious So now ever match is 6 reapers against 3 widows that's get line of slight blocked by 2 meis and a Lucio trying to find the sickest rollout angle
They'd have to completely redesign pallets, which are a core feature of gameplay, around a killer like this. But then again, I said the same thing about Chucky and hooks, and they were able to make a miracle happen, so I'm open to being wrong.
@@Hyrule409It depend, give it enough limits then it will be fine. If you could casually jump on obstacles and walk on them yeah kind of a problem. But if you make it an hard to use ability with pre defined jump trajectory and a cooldown, you will see how less impressive it looks.
Honestly, I want something for the ambiance. One of my main reasons for loving Midwich is that its ambiance is like no other map. I don't mind brighter maps, I love the aesthetic of Ormond with the wind and all. I also like the darker maps as well (Midwich). What I want is more added like Ormond having more sound, howling winds and creaking metal. Give me indoor maps that look decrepit, low hanging light bulbs flickering in and out with creaking wood.
0:10 good one coconut, you got me there hahahaha Coconut talking about how "polished" this game is is the most hilarious take i have had yet experienced this year
No these should not be added back for the simple reason of increased false reports. Didn’t you have a video recently talking about how perks are hiding cheaters as well? Imagine if they could hide their hacks with these bugs now too.
5:00 Um well if they were to remove the walls for killers because dead hard doesn't give distance anymore than I see that as unfair to the survivor cuz the game is suppose to be fun and chase themed, not "break the game" themed
I like your thesis ("Focus on fun before realism and let gamey silly things be what they are") but I do not like a lot of the steps that you propose would lead the game to that point. Chaos and unpredictability are not inherently virtuous even when seeking 'Fun', they can be either fun *or* frustrating depending on context. And going by how people play the game lately, they'll quickly mutilate anything exploitable until they figure out how to exclusively use it to their own benefit for the sake of winning more games, until the other side isn't having fun anymore. Just like how things are now. Plus, the more obscure 'tech' they have in the game, the harder it is for new players to get into the game. A basic-ass "bully squad" that just brings flashlights and goes for saves is enough to completely ward off new killer players from sticking with the game, because they aren't taught how to deal with that playstyle in the game itself, so imagine how they'd feel dealing with getting shoved into holes by people they try to locker-grab and not understanding why, in a game where one screw-up can easily lose you the game. Invisible walls can definitely screw off though, you have that one. Collision is bad enough in most maps even without them.
I agree a big part of the games charm was the goofy aspects of it. With balancing and over expansion into realism a lot is lost for a lot of people. For survivor movement while I liked it better I can see many reasons why they may have chosen to go down this route. The one I really think needs to come back is the removal of invisible walls and being able to walk on environments. the hole tech is also a great example. I'm fine with them not letting big crazy looking bounces like demo and billy but being able to figure out ways onto ledges and use them is something fun for players to discover on both sides and give vets a goal to work on when they run out of other stuff to do. this also forces a killer that can fly or climb to be basically not possible which is a shame.
What features I would like to see is actual horror elements added to base game like Dredge's nightfall. As a killer main I got into the game in hopes to be the scary monster that survivors like players in actual horror games, but it never felt like survivors were scared of me. My favorite DBD videos I've watched on RUclips is the ones of killers scaring streamers. But it never seems like I can scare the survivors, and since I can't really scare except for maybe on stealth killers, then I focus more on winning. So, if Behaviour could actually give me more ways of scaring survivors I could actually focusing on more having fun then playing to win. Even if all survivors escape, if I know that I scared the shit out of them, then that's a fun match to me. So, I really hope the devs will actually add more actual horror features into the game.
Myers is legitimately the only killer who is used for actual scares. That said, he's so good at it I've seen people be frozen after getting scared by him. You could ask for other killers to be his level of scary, but until then I think that's the only way to do that. When you play a game enough, the "fear" goes away, and DBD just isn't ever gonna be scary again unless you're playing Scratched Mirror Myers.
@@jonp1952 Well, I think Ghostface can be just about the same level as Myers for scares, but like I said. I was thinking of more mechanics like Dredge's nightfall that can put survivors on edge whether it is more killers with abilities like it or base game stuff. For base game stuff, I was thinking of stuff the Killer can trigger to scare the survivors or a trap in the environment that gives the survivor a scare. It wouldn't do anything gameplay wise other than give the survivor a good scare. I mean they got the bodies falling out of lockers on the Midwich map, and they got the phantom "scares" from halloween event and snowman scare for winter event. I really believe they could add more scary stuff to the maps, and more killers with scare elements. Like one of my favorite addons on Dredge is the microphone one not just cause of the aura reading ability, but also cause of the open and slamming lockers near survivors effect.

If anyone from BHVR sees this please revert everything here (except infinite flashbangs that's a little op and fake vaults, just make that a perk). Games are for having fun NOT realistic mechanics we live with in our everyday lives.
Never had an issue with old movement on console, there was no gap, I could still moonwalk and ayrun tech on sticks. It’s also wasn’t obnoxious to deal with that is just a skill issue
Old movement is only wanted back by survivor mains. No1 in the world mains killer and ask for this 1 sided control back. Completely and utterly broken. Cringe how Noob3 got famous bc of the broken controls use againts people in 1st person POV. The 360, Created by 72Hours... Changed how survivors played the game in a Toxic manner. Never was implemented for that purpose. I never played Killer for the 1st 3 years bc of it! I played on the old gen Xbox that already suffered from latency and graphic issues. Felt like I was trying to cut a fly with a butter knife. 5 years later, I could probly handle it. But not asking for it!
Honestly never realised how insanely fun the bugs that let you traverse terrain not intended were, they definitely need to bring those back but balance them so that killers and survivors can reach these areas
issue with space billy is there little to no counter play to it, a survivor could do nothing if a billy just falls from the sky with a insta down. Holing with the locker makes head on obsolete and would be insanely frustrating to play against. Since once you finally catch up to the survivor they can enter one these lockers and instantly push you down , at least head on you have to wait 3 seconds and is an exhaustion perk. fun for one side is not worth at the expense of the other (since the killer cannot also do this) Badham jump is the same as the lockers but for killer but it's even more niche and its only located on one map and centralized on one pallet so you could make an argument for this one! climbing, I knew this would be here. Hell no, it basically turned off some of the pallet loops or worse. I'm all for cool over rule but some of these probably should remain or be removed.
Please don't take this as an attack be ause I didn't play during space Billy But how is space Billy uncountable He can't see the map most of the jump, right? I mean I guess with enough tracking perks I guess, but to me it looked like 1 massive and long jump where he could have reached the same target faster and easier the normal way
@@mandragorius9637 the skill floor for space billy is dumb high no doubt about that but the pros for getting good at it is the surv has no idea where you are coming from and you can go OVER tiles instead of having to go around which may or may not be faster depending. some people got insanely good at it causing some insane early downs. a suppose 'no counter' is a bit to extreme of a word, you could always look up but honestly when does anyone do that lol. Space billy was awesome but it's almost like getting cross mapped with a insta down huntress hatchet except the killer can also insta pick up right after. it was frustrating but funny. hope this helps
The reasons you mentioned are EXACTLY why TF2 is still so fun and the community is so crazy about it. We have complete freedom of movement and the physics engine allows for people to fly through the sky to get crazy kills. The depth to tf2 is ridiculous.
Because the game was designed that way, before and after release. However, some things (like DbD-specific things in this video) tend to only be fun from one perspective, which is the same for things in TF2 like the invincible phlog exploit that allows you to keep the invincibility while being able to deal damage when it should only apply when you're taunting with full charge which causes it to go away right when you're able to deal damage, allowing you to completely destroy the enemy team for absolutely free. It's fun, but only for the pyro using the exploit.
Great video man you put insane amount of effort in your videos like it’s the last video you’ll be able to upload and you make it worth the time. Also I noticed you’re a really good story teller keep it up.
6 out of the 10 things mentioned were in favor of making survivor gameplay more fun. 3/4 of the killer fun related things involved only 4 of the killers out like what 30+?
I got my last DBD trophy. 24 meter downs with Huntress. I had to really be cheese and use iris and long range hook camping. This is an old achievement and both maps and Huntress have changed so much one has almost no shot unless they just play Huntress.
I literally just messaged people and boosted downs in farm lobbies lmao. Did the same thing with the Nurse and Billy trophies. Fuck doing those legitimately.
@@Hyrule409 I feel this. I tried the Nurse blink grab going back years. Finally at the end of last year did I get it legit off an exit gate grab. I can say I got mine legit, but that doesn't mean I didn't shortcut.
It feels like all of these things listed are only being considered from the stance of the people who it benefits and not the other side. How pissed would you be if every Billy could just take to the skies because they can't find you? Or survivors with infinite flashes, or even just more than 2, would take turns flashing you, keeping you blind for half the game. (That last one is trauma related, I hate hackers dude.) Most of these are fun and do sound like they could have parts of them implemented into the game, but some sounds like they would exist only to piss off the opposition.
Not every Billie will be in the sky, that takes an insane amount of skill and was never an issue when it was in the game. Survivors never had infinite flash bangs, they were just able to stack them infinitely, usually using 2 or 3 in one chase. Don't create fake scenarios that never have or will occur to support your argument. You can literally go look at what happened in the past to see how these mechanics performed in dbd.
Invisible barriers are terrible especially wanting to jump off really high buildings on Garden of Joy and or Eerie of Crows with victor or try to experiment and the Invisible walls stop you from having that lil bit of extra fun. Little secrets and things like the Harvesters the killer running to the side of the haybales or weird clutter and things giving you bad collision on hillbilly, bubba, and wesker. The more techs a game has the better it is for the people with more hours to have something to get better at.
The fake window vault seems doable and fits into the game. Since Pebble work everywhere and Red Herring works for fake generator notifications. When they make the animation less janky i can see it working out.
Idk if it was on purpose but using the font for OSRS when asking about fun and graphics was very smart. Because OSRS looks like dogwater, but it's so damn addictive because something as simple as cutting trees can in fact be fun.
I'd love a dedicated survivor item that allows you to push the killer + to fake vaults. Hold right click, there's a charge-up time like a map. When active, it drains charges, gives you pushing collision with the killer, and all of your vaults create the sound but you don't vault. It can also create a false 'pallet drop' sound on an undropped pallet. It's a pretty abstract effect. I guess call it a little Magic Orb or Magic Marble. Maybe it glows in your hand when in being used, so the killer may see it glowing in your hand and try to outplay it.
Old movement is what made love this and all the chaos that there was and is so bright and boring especially for a game that it's name is dead by daylight.Where all this light came from😂
can't forget the hag rotten hand addon flinging survivors into space. also, the spirit used to be able to do the stuff blight/billy/demo could do - i once flew over a closed exit gate on the old game map
Almost all of them are some of the worst takes I've heard. All of these are only fun from one side. They all take away gameplay from the other side. Imaging you juke the killer and when you are finally safe, the killer just hops over three walls and hits you? Or after a very long chase the survivor hops in a locker to avoid a hit and you are kicked down a floor? Very fun mechanics, can't wait for those to come back.
No offense, but I feel like you’re the type of person who doesn’t have fun at this game. Most of the bugs mentioned were just chaotic. Not OP or anything. Just stupid and goofy. Also, while many of them may be exclusive to one side, lots of things in DbD are exclusive to one side. Why is being able to perform a bug on one side a problem?
Nah I gotta agree with original commenter, I have been on the receiving end of that locker bug, that was indeed not fun, yall are just some exploiters sad your loop extender/ender got removed
To answer your question "would you rather your game look shit and be fun or the game look good but boring?" I answer with a mixture of both, you can totally have both, good looking and fun.
The only problem for them to revert these changes is that they will think it is a horrible business decision to bring back "glitches" and old movement, i would just want the maps to be pre updated graphics. i feel like this would make the game more scary infact even more fun.
The issue with this video though is that all these points are from the perspective of someone who has been playing for years. Im a killer main and only have like 24 hours in game and holy hell i and many other noobs would delete the game in a heartbeat if something like infinite flashes came back
I disagree with 2nd, 3rd,6th and 9th points they were game breaking issues, not Features and they couldnt stay in the game and as for the other points its a shame they removed them because these werent as game breaking and were fun to have
Honestly this is a pretty terrible video. These were exploits that were abused and caused frustration on both sides which is why they were removed in the first place. It wasn’t “fun” to deal with these issues and making a video to have the audience think “yah they should bring them back!” is… i can’t think of the word without sounding too douche but the community is pretty brain dead and the last thing we need is more people screaming at the devs with bad ideas. Although i do agree behavior should look for ways to make the game more enjoyable, lets not forget this is a 1v4 with “somewhat” of a competitive and objective base game ( don’t deny the competitive part, tired of people lying that they don’t feel competitive). These features would be fine in a sandbox game but not this.
These are all horrible takes because the game would be too sweaty and more like smash melee where you have to learn game breaking bugs and glitches to compete with players. And you would have to memorise multiple complicated glitches and inputs and the game would not be beginner player friendly or even average player friendly or even above average player friendly. Only sweats would be able to play this game because the game would be too sweaty and horrible to experience for everyone in this horrible chaos just like competitive or online smash melee.
“These are all horrible takes” So… does that also include Space Billy? Because if so, then I don’t think you’ve ever seen a Space Billy player before. They were the exact opposite of sweaty players.
I'm a veteran player and when I was new, I always thought being able to get ontop of object was intended, I still find myself on maps with multiple floors and being like "Well why cant I just throw myself off as billy?" It's not like it's a "game breaking glitch" it just feels right to jump from a roof onto a car as someone like Nemesis.
When you say the community want this broken buggy shit back, as well as the trash old locomotion system, do you mean just you? I only ask cos a few of these takes are frighteningly cooked.
I have to say that when you used to ride on loops with Piggy, it was one of the best moments i had fun in DbD killer i miss these moments i can't believe i've forgot them
I think old movement is somewhat controversial just for how snappy movements were. For gameplay I'd say the new one is better since you cant snap in one direction of the Killer is about to swing
"Would you rather have your game look like shit but its fun, or have it be realistic but boring?" That question is perfectly answered by the Existance of Lethal company. It doesn't look particulaly over realistic or has high quality graphics, neither would gameplay be realistic. But the game is fun and that is why everyone loves it. I personally love playing Warframe. A game that looks fairly good with its graphics and has really fun gameplay imo. Sure, its not realistic that i can decide to mod (mods are what the ingame upgrade system is called) my melee build with tons of attack speed and then attack as fast as if i was Sonic the Hedgehog or things like that... but its fun to do so anyways! And its fun that the game lets me do it if i like to!

at least it still removes some collision, recently i've been having a lot of fun, and also, as a solo-q I actually started appreciating it because of the sheer amount of information it provides.
They went total overkill with invisible walls. I hit an invisible wall on Ormond going off of a normal hill... Not main, but a basic hill. Garden of (Pain) is also horrible to experience when you can't even leap off of the top floor.
as a hillbilly main
its so bad to,im not sure why tho???
Its so bad as twins, demo, bubba, any killer affected by walls
Eyrie also has invis walls around most hills (sometimes you can get around them, but it's a bit finicky). It's one of the main reasons I dislike the map as a demo main :(
I straight up don't play demo because of all the invisible walls. The roofs I can't jump off, the hills and ramps I can't jump off. Slamming into an invisible wall when trying to make a jump that should work once was enough to make me never play him.
Making a fake vault noise seems like a perk they would've done by now, crazy that they havent

I feel infinite flashbangs would be a bit overboard, especially in saves, I definitely agree there should be an option to hold up to 3 like in RE2, but have like a 20 second cooldown so you can't just spam them to get a cheap save.
yup. im glad some people have still some sort of sense.
@@v1p3r62 I mean, they could lower it to 33% of a Generator, and possibly have the cooldown apply to Firecrackers as well
not so sure so many killer would agree with the old dbd movement
Imagine being able to hit Survivors through holes and gaps, that would be so cool.
you just contradicted yourself in that 1st paragraph
@@uugh_3446 how exactly? How is that contradictory exactly or are you just intentionally misreading my argument so you can find something to complain about?

Half of these are fun when you're doing them, but frustrating when it happens to you.
@@UltimateBatator How about no side faces unfun stuff because of broken things? i think dbd defnitely needs more variety and fun but reintroducing bugs or clunky movement isnt the right way of doing it since they can also get quite frustrating if youre on the other side of it and they are often very situational and skill dependent. they should instead introduce new movement options or other abilities in a regulated way so that everyone can use them and they are consistent and predictable.

Oh my god I thought I was going mad with #7. Yeah I haven't cleared that gap in a long time
The Fake flashlight vault could come back as a survivor perk.

Edit: That said, a lot of these techs would be a huge buff to survivors with thousands of hours and I already hate going against high end SWFs to begin with. I dunno
Not a gameplay mechanic, but there was a bug where if you actively used a flashlgight while exiting the gate you'd walk slowly with the flashie on.
I miss that it looked cool
If we talk about "net" in trees, i think fair enough to add in this list freacking BUSH on Eyrie. That 2-3 sticks from ground that are completely ruining fun sometimes for: BIlly, Twins, Bubba, Huntress, Deathslinger, Demogorgon and many other killers with ranged/damaging abilities. And if even with Bubba or Billy u can M1 guys in this bush, Twins can't do nothing about that. Like with a pallets rn(Victor can't normally jump over a dropped pallet to damage survivor((I feel ur pain, Lynxi))) Like invisible walls, my personal hot take - remove weirdo hitboxes like this, or do smth about it
As a billy and bubba main, i can’t count the times that i pumped in this bush
But that's not what they're patching out with the vast, vast majority of these changes.
except there isnt a single spot a survivor could get to that a killer cant nowadays since dead hard was the only "dash" ability survivors had
Should have named the video "10 bugs DbD fixed that *I* found fun". There's a good reason why most of these were fixed.
As someone who had played killer during that time I can assure you
While you had a blast laughing I was pondering why I wasn't just maining nurse instead of doctor, not like survivors tried to make me have a decent time
What I'm trying to say is
Doding one m1 in 1 chase is totally fine in a chase 2 is... frustrating to see happen as killer
3 is a reason to just stop playing for the rest of the day
I'm sure you had a great time
But it's also the time that made me eventually quit because after a 2 minute chase with 8 spins, a insta heal a deadhard and old decisive strike to really rub in that playing anything but nurse is trolling and that lunges are only for the times when you drop from a lege
ngl i think a lot of times people forget that what's fun for one person/group may not be for the others. the head on bug certainly must've been fun for some survivors until bully squads probably overused it. cannot imagine from the killer pov for this to be "fun". it is rich for people to say 'isn't a game supposed to be fun" when 90% of what the community deems fun is just them being able to be shitheads. perhaps the implementing of game modes for veterans or whatever where they can do whatever they wanna do like that, would help it. cause if i queue up for a game, i wanna play the game and not necessarily depip for afk space billy or having 2 of my team mates head on fling the killer until they DC. but also as a killer i want to improve my mechanics with killers i am still learning and not have to 'be nice' to others for wanting to do something different.
@@liandre9035that's what we call thinking with your emotions instead of your brain
@@anomaly3215 yeap pretty much
Having the movement be limited is a good thing in regards to how snappy movement was back then, it looks incredibly frustrating to try to track survivors who are within melee range with such a limited FOV.
Most Space Billies didn't even use it for that stuff, they usually just wanted to show it off because it was fun to do.
I was so excited about this game before for over 2 years, spending lots of hours each week and hundreds of euros for skins and now I barely play it anymore.
many of these just made it frustrating to go against
I remember that they removed legions ability to increase vault speed in frenzy with perks.
Alright, coconut, you've reached your limit. You've been playing DBD for too long if you think bugs are good for the game.
bugs are good for a lot of games
1) Some bugs may be fun for some, but painful for others
2) The best option is to divide the game into competitive and casual.
In competitive, the rules will be applied as in torments where most bugs cannot be used or skills perks are somehow balanced, etc.
In a casual, all this is more forgivable and hinders the research much more (for example, with a pig). But also, what works in one does not work in another (for example, player’s playing styles).
I lobe the spirit, but that idea is flawed
A. Usually people expect a casual kode to prepare for a ranked mode, so it would be really frustrating to go as a survivor with all these gamebreaking bugs into a more fair environment where half of their tech skill is worthless
B. There would be no incentives to play the casual mode for the side suffering from worse balance
Why would pig go casual where she gets hit by 12 flashbangs in a row while comp has 1 per person, so worst case 4 in a row
The wall tech ain't worth that for most.
C. Splitting up player base like that makes queue time a lot longer especially because there is no incentive for either side to leave their more beneficial game mode
D. The non competitive mode could become the home of the worst filth of the community
Bullysquads that wanna have a laugh at people learning the game, so they go for casual
Nurses and blight slugging people with 1.5 hours of gametime
4 survivors who all just hide in random spots because they think hide and seek is funnier. I know it's not popular to compare, but look at overwatch 1. In the og version silly stuff was in normal and ranked, every now and again you found some janky 6 reaper lineup, but most of the time was normal
Then they split into serious and silly, where you would only face the dumbest shit in silly every game, because hey if you wanted Nirmal games you'd be in serious
So now ever match is 6 reapers against 3 widows that's get line of slight blocked by 2 meis and a Lucio trying to find the sickest rollout angle
Dude if we could have a flying killer or at least one that glides from a high height that would be unbelievably fun
0:10 good one coconut, you got me there hahahaha
Coconut talking about how "polished" this game is is the most hilarious take i have had yet experienced this year
No these should not be added back for the simple reason of increased false reports.
Most of the "features" that were deleted are for bullying killers, k understand you Coco ty
This is why Deep Rock Galactic has the best devs. You all liked the funny collision bug we just fixed? Sure, we'll add it back.
There's no way this guy is doing the "spaguetti code was actually better" in 2024 😂
It's like Space Station 13. Coders #1 rule is to make sure no fun is allowed.
I mean sure, they could, but nightfall for 90% of the playerbase does not scare them.@@mitsurugi667

Old movement was changed to help bridge the gap for console players, and also was incredibly obnoxious and jaring to deal with

Since once you finally catch up to the survivor they can enter one these lockers and instantly push you down , at least head on you have to wait 3 seconds and is an exhaustion perk. fun for one side is not worth at the expense of the other (since the killer cannot also do this)
Badham jump is the same as the lockers but for killer but it's even more niche and its only located on one map and centralized on one pallet so you could make an argument for this one!
climbing, I knew this would be here. Hell no, it basically turned off some of the pallet loops or worse.
I'm all for cool over rule but some of these probably should remain or be removed.
Please don't take this as an attack be ause I didn't play during space Billy
But how is space Billy uncountable
He can't see the map most of the jump, right?

(That last one is trauma related, I hate hackers dude.)
Most of these are fun and do sound like they could have parts of them implemented into the game, but some sounds like they would exist only to piss off the opposition.
Exactly
with flashlbang you shoud carry them. Just add 30 seconds cooldown to use it
Not every Billie will be in the sky, that takes an insane amount of skill and was never an issue when it was in the game.
Space Billy, the buff Billy needs 😔
A lot of this just seems broken, in my opinion. May seem fun in the moment, but it is beyond broken.
The fake window vault seems doable and fits into the game. Since Pebble work everywhere and Red Herring works for fake generator notifications.
When they make the animation less janky i can see it working out.
Hell no to the flash bangs made light born necessary to actually play
Idk if it was on purpose but using the font for OSRS when asking about fun and graphics was very smart. Because OSRS looks like dogwater, but it's so damn addictive because something as simple as cutting trees can in fact be fun.
i loved cutting trees and leveling up my axes
I'd love a dedicated survivor item that allows you to push the killer + to fake vaults. Hold right click, there's a charge-up time like a map. When active, it drains charges, gives you pushing collision with the killer, and all of your vaults create the sound but you don't vault. It can also create a false 'pallet drop' sound on an undropped pallet.
It's a pretty abstract effect. I guess call it a little Magic Orb or Magic Marble. Maybe it glows in your hand when in being used, so the killer may see it glowing in your hand and try to outplay it.
I miss old movement xD it was legit reason why I loved DBD xD and! mobile has a mix of old and new movement... would ove it in core
The killer isn’t gonna just hop over 3 walls lmao it has to be a precise setup.. tell me you don’t know how the game works without telling md
Infinite flashbangs was a good thing?
"Holes add more versatility" is going into my wildly out of context quotes.
the frist 3 would be really unbalanced and unfun, especially infinite flashbangs
toba has ramps for the last one
The only problem for them to revert these changes is that they will think it is a horrible business decision to bring back "glitches" and old movement, i would just want the maps to be pre updated graphics. i feel like this would make the game more scary infact even more fun.
Hell nah keep all this out of the game, except the pig nerf
I loved hook grab mind games but those got banished to the shadow realm.
The issue with this video though is that all these points are from the perspective of someone who has been playing for years. Im a killer main and only have like 24 hours in game and holy hell i and many other noobs would delete the game in a heartbeat if something like infinite flashes came back
if you add a cooldown on them it wouldn t be a problem
they could do a better job at explaining how to counter them too
the locker holing can be a perk it wwould be fun like a better head on but without the stun
I disagree with 2nd, 3rd,6th and 9th points they were game breaking issues, not Features and they couldnt stay in the game and as for the other points its a shame they removed them because these werent as game breaking and were fun to have
I mean space billy wasnt bad imo sure it was kinda gamebreaking but i loved it
I think the tree problem could be fixed by removing hatchet collision on the smaller branches.
These features would be fine in a sandbox game but not this.
if i saw a space billy, i fucking be scared out of my mind
These are all horrible takes because the game would be too sweaty and more like smash melee where you have to learn game breaking bugs and glitches to compete with players. And you would have to memorise multiple complicated glitches and inputs and the game would not be beginner player friendly or even average player friendly or even above average player friendly. Only sweats would be able to play this game because the game would be too sweaty and horrible to experience for everyone in this horrible chaos just like competitive or online smash melee.
The game is also not becoming more realistic, it's becoming more balanced and less chaotic and less sweaty for the better.
“These are all horrible takes”
So… does that also include Space Billy? Because if so, then I don’t think you’ve ever seen a Space Billy player before. They were the exact opposite of sweaty players.
we already have that sweaty boring experience, removing invis walls would just make it more interresting

It's not like it's a "game breaking glitch" it just feels right to jump from a roof onto a car as someone like Nemesis.
Pushing in lockers is the most frustrating glitch let me hit my CJs PLEASE it literally pulls them out of pick animation...
When you say the community want this broken buggy shit back, as well as the trash old locomotion system, do you mean just you? I only ask cos a few of these takes are frighteningly cooked.
exactly
After playing this game for 5 years. I’m down for some wacky changes
The locker one is not good for Killers as they can't grab soooooooo ye
seeing noob3 spin again makes me miss the old days
bit early for april fools?
I have to say that when you used to ride on loops with Piggy, it was one of the best moments i had fun in DbD killer i miss these moments i can't believe i've forgot them
I'm sorry but old survivor movement was not fun and it made it unplayable for killers that old shit was unbalanced and the opposite of fun
I think old movement is somewhat controversial just for how snappy movements were. For gameplay I'd say the new one is better since you cant snap in one direction of the Killer is about to swing
I disagree, invisible walls have always been in games, and the player base was abusing the lack of them, so the Devs acted out in adding them, simple.
these are the shittiest ideas today
"Would you rather have your game look like shit but its fun, or have it be realistic but boring?"
That question is perfectly answered by the Existance of Lethal company.
