As somebody that restarted more than 20 times in the last month (reached 3 stars each time, started decorations, hated and deleted immediately) I CAN RELATE! I love this game, but sometimes i get stuck in wanting to do everything and nothing at the same time.
I think restarting give you excitement because you gonna do missions again flattening everything . I think this game gonna be more cool if people also not going to treasure Island haha
i dont think its a dead game because i dont think games die. i dont think a game is *meant* to die - that's a pretty recent thing that i really hadn't heard of until the last few years. i love complaining about this game too, but i also genuinely think the game that we got is still really good. people are still starting new channels with new horizons game play! i just dont think we need to let games die if we dont want to. (also, it was $60, im running this thing into the ground)

Yeah honestly the idea of games dying is so weird to me, since there are so many old games that haven't been updated in years but still have a thriving community. Though also I'd say it's a bit different for a game like animal crossing, which by design was "meant" to be played in real time (side note: obviously play however you want, I'm just talking about what the developers originally intended). Usually when devs want their players to return every day, they regularly add bits of content to make it more fun, like time-limited events for example. I really hope we get more of that with the next AC game (we probably won't lol), cuz for me that's a big wasted opportunity for ACNH

it’s not a dead game to me because it’s meant to be relaxing! every time you hit a stand still, you can just reset like you did! to me, it will take hundreds of hours to do all the different customizations or have all the villagers or even complete all the villagers in the DLC :) love your vids!
the worst thing about restarting is restarting in winter. You get to 3 stars and then you want to start decorating and terraforming but everything is covered in snow and looks so ugly 😫
I think the only way to stay entertained with the game is to choose a theme and go with it, like restart and use a theme to decorate and choose the villagers, like a japanese island/spooky island/cowboy island. Otherwhise you end up building the same island over and over again
I feel like it's the opposite works me, actually. Any time I try to do a theme I get so bored with it I just want to reset and do a diffrent one, but with a non-theme island, it feels alot more fun to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

It’s not a dead game because there are new players every day. I think the boredom and frustration comes when your island is exactly the way you like and there’s not much to do after that.

Yay new Island , I was like you and got bored so I restarted and now I have Rudy and Filbert fighting everyday for some reason, Rudy asks me 3 days in a row now to deliver a gift for being sorry and they are living far apart so I don't know when they are fighting but they are 😂 anyways Thank you for always making me laugh and for being such a wonderful content creator ❤😊 Animal crossing never gets old , can't wait to see your island ideas cuz right now my island is a mess lol.
from where i'm at, animal crossing: new horizons isn't a dead game because it's not a live service game. they released a full game, and then a dlc and that's it. the only way i feel it could be considered a "dead game" if they were actively always doing updates for it, new events and trying to keep an ongoing active community, things they aren't trying. it's a game that you beat and can continue playing or stop, that's the point of it. which i think is nice when there are so many unfinished games that acts like a live service game when it's not supposed to be. btw, absolute adore your content! and there's nothing wrong with getting bored with it but still wanting to play, so you restart your island. as someone who still has their og island, i never saw a reason to do so, and still enjoy playing it when im not playing my other games and catching up with my villagers.

Seeing people restarting tons of times is a little weird to me because I've had the same island since i got the game in 2021, idk how i haven't got bored yet xd (And i haven't finished my island 🥲)
So I still play. I started playing in June 2020. I couldnt find a switch (yay lockdowns) but my sister and brother in law found a used one for my birthday that came with animal crossing. I still have that original island and play frequently. I wish all the time they'd update lol, it's boring except I can't get blue roses or all the fish so I still have those at least to do. I also have the dlc to play on there so it's fun. That said, a year later I bought the animal crossing switch and had another island there but have reset twice cause it does get boring once everything's built and you bought all the stuff you want, there's not much else to do. I recently reset again and am redoing an island right now. Restarting is fun haha.
Meanwhile i'm over here with the same island since the game's launch that I don't want to delete because I put in so many hours during lockdown and have a full museum and so many villager pictures...

to me, the game isn't dead because there are so many island ideas I want to do - Until recently I only ever played on and off, set myself/forced myself to do a theme I eventually lost interest in and stopped playing... That changed a few days ago when I reset my island and gave my island a less themed name and I'm just allowing myself to actually enjoy myself

I did not know about the fact you could start villager hunting when the airport opened, but I just restarted and had a VERY easy time finding my dreamies and I think you deserve at least partial credit for that.
