Proxxon is now making even smaller power supply with control NG/2e (for 1 tool only though) - it is about half of the price of 5/e (which is for 3 devices). Thanks for the pen sander tip BTW, I got one for Xmass and it is a super helper.
Proxon also make a NG/2E power supply which also incorporates speed control like the 5E, but for just a few more $ than the basic NG/2S. Only disadvantage is that it only powers one tool at a time.
Will, love your channel and the work that you do. I just got a proxxon 60EF with the variable transformer... I'm looking for a good set of grinding / milling / polishing etc bits. Can you please recommend some? Thanks!
Great video. I've been using one of those $20 nail/ manicure tools for years and love it. It has almost the exact body style as the David Union. The problem with the cheap rotary tools is the wobble and getting a good 3-jaw chuck. I'm definitely going to their site right now and looking into it. I'll mention your name. Thanks Will and where did you buy that grinding tip at the beginning of the video?
Just got the 550E and I love it. The lower torque is not an issue for myself. Can you confirm if the foot switch works with your 365? That's a great idea.
Based on other video reviews, the David Union 365 you have there will basically automatically increase the speed / rpm when it detects certain resistance level - to keep continue spinning. The 360 model does not.
Nice review Will, but can I ask if you have a problem with the UN? Judging by the sign on the side of your spray booth, you don't rate them too highly.
Nice, I bought a 360 elite last week and used it a few times over the last few days. Very happy with it and for modeling it's it beats the standard dremal. You just need to be careful with what model you get do to different collet sizing.
One problem I have with my David Union (360 Elite) is that the power cable DC plug tends to come undone from the handpiece while working. Otherwise, I love working with it. Thanks for the idea of using a foot switch. Am now browsing online stores for a simple AC foot switch I can use.
About time you put a video out will. More videos please instead of sitting drinking coffee with your feet up reading modern mags George in England 😂👍🇬🇧🇺🇸stay safe.
Watched your review vid, Will, and it gives me impetus to get the David Union 360. I already have the D400 sander and find it very controllable and handy. My one issue with the price comparison you did was, it was a bit muddled insofar as describing of all the Proxxon accessories vs. the David Union brand's equivalents. Maybe it was my own poor power of concentration, but I sort of lost track of exactly which unit you were referring to. Maybe if you had a graphic showing a comparo spreadsheet, like complete with a bottom line total might've illustrated the pricing more coherently.
Goofy name, but looks very slick. Unfortunately not an option here in Europe, it would cost me about $200 including shipping, and I can get a MicroMOT 60/EF with a power supply for 62 Euros.
I bought the proxxon without the special speed control. It appears to be only available with collets, I couldn't find a suitable 3 collet replacement. I then bought their $20 foot controller. It's pretty junky and is just an off on switch. Their return policy isn't great. I'd give them a pass. I'm better off with smaller cheaper battery drills. For modeling, I find this device over kill, too heavy, way too fast. But if I need to clean out a cavity I'm sure this will work.
Seems like a decent tool Will but upgrading their website should maybe be a priority. A lot of folks want the really easy option when ordering online. Amazon has it's problems but it's certainly user-friendly.😁 Nice to hear from you; it's been a while.👍👌😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
i really was interested in your factual content and opinion, but even while having it run in the background, i had to bail. i’ve been an on again/off again intense foredom and dermel user since the late seventies. i need a new tool and looked to you, among many others for guidance. my day job for over a quarter century was fulltime teaching of photo and video. this included more objective uses (?!) such as journalism & documentary. it was also based on artistic uses of the format one selects. i don’t want to run you down for your willingness to share your experience, in fact, i applaud it. and in some instances, the charming inability to bring the larger power supply into camera view and the resultant power cord dangling in front of the lens was a result of: a.) too lazy to reshoot. b.) what you consider a brave foray into the “aw shucks” i just wanna post my feelins’ or c). (and 99.999999% unlikely) you were paid off by dremel, ryobi, black&decker etc. to throw the market off kilter. not an actual rehearsal, that you might fear would minimalist your authenticity(?! ffs) a run through of the camera/audio/lighting scenarios beforehand, would have served you well.

Thanks very much for this review. I bought the David Union 365 because of it. I have used it once so far and it is superb!
Just yesterday I was thinking that will had not made a post on youtube for a long time. glad to hear from you.
I'm interested in the Proxxon pen sander. Must you also buy the transformer to use that tool ?

Thank you! I just use the standard stuff. The key is keeping them sharp. But my most valuable ones are the ones I got from my dentist.

Do you have a link to the cotton polishing wheel that you use?
Will, we all know you love a good tool....!! How are you getting on with this? any update or thoughts??
The proxxon system is great, the bow foam cutter , sander and other tools is why I brought mine
Just got the 550E and I love it. The lower torque is not an issue for myself. Can you confirm if the foot switch works with your 365? That's a great idea.
550E can turn CW and CCW, is Proxxon having the same function???

Great review. Looking to upgrade from my Dremel and this was very helpful info.
Will the NG2/E power supply I got with my 60EF has a speed dial of the same type as the NG5/E.
Nice review Will, but can I ask if you have a problem with the UN? Judging by the sign on the side of your spray booth, you don't rate them too highly.
lol. you're reading it wrong.
oh my ...

So this tool has to be plugged in for operation ? No instructions at all on this tool not on the web site or in the box
Like the sign man took me a few seconds to figure it out.

"Davidonion"...I got a good chuckle from that one!
The problem with proxxon and all others you can't reverse the spin. Mine old tool can and it can be soooo useful.

I have the David Union pen which I think works well

Looks like a great tool... But i did a search for it and got no hits for this company. Even looked on ebay and amazon and no go
eBay does have the David union routers ...
