Thank you for the great review. The Fuji having the option for the 1.5X tele converter and the fact the Fuji is sharper, this means it will resolve Fujifilms newest 40mpx sensor a lot better and provide realistic cropping power especially for sports and wildlife.

Thank you so much for your great video !
Always love your energy and feedbacks !!
This lens looks fantastic, but reviews are kind of a mixed bag, because when I look at Dustin Abbott's review, it's crazy how sharper and clearer the results are, compared to Fuji's tools.
Do you think it could be a build quality difference ?
Because in his tests, even the 150-600mm is less sharp than this Sigma.
I'm always a bit precocious when I look at videos, but what do you feel about that ?
I use a 70-300mm with a 1.4x TC, it's really great, but not that sharp and kind of dark in some situations ; I was thinking of trading it for this Sigma or the 150-600mm (not the same tools, I know).
Sorry for bothering, take very good care !
    Colin

How is it for video? Does it lose focus badly when zooming? Does the exposure change abruptly when zooming??

What's about the focus speed regarding sports and wildlife?

Great review. Do you think either of these would be too big for the XT30II? i was amazed how good the XT30 paired with the 55-250mm for shooting birds. Even heavily cropped the images seems pretty good, was think of a longer focal length 👍

Having owned an X-T30 before and currently using the X-T2 with a battery grip, I can say with certainty that if you want to use it on the X-T30, you would do well to get some kind of add-on grip to help balance the heavier lens. It will feel very awkward without it. Weight matters as well: I'd get the heaviest grip (metal construction) I could find. I don't think there is a battery grip for the X-T30, but if there is then I'd spring for that rather than a grip to widen the ergonomics of the camera. You'll notice a huge difference in handling.

For this to be useful you must compare focus speed for moving subjects. And does it lose gocus when zooming?

Hello, did you recognize any issues with the Sigma in combination with the 40Mp sensor of the X-T5? Isn’t it that Fujifilm does recommend only a few high quality lenses for combination with this sensor?
Maybe for most hobby photographers the Fuji 70-300 is the better alternative compared to the Sigma?

I have had the Fuji 100-400 for several years. I use it for sports, my grandsons plying Lacrosse. Many games start late in the afternoon and end in darkness with lights on the field. I use a monopod to carry the weight, and shoot some 900-1100 shots during a game. By the end of theme, the darkness becomes a real problem and knocking down the aperture and reducing the shutter speed to 500th is necessary, so loosing even a 1/3 stop would be a problem and having to fiddle with the camera to open the aperture while the game is going would be annoying. The Fuji autofocus in dim light is not perfect, and I do have to throw shots away, but I do get many great shots. If I had to do it over again today, would I choose the Sigma? How important are pictures of your grandsons worth?

I’m brand new to Fujifilm 😮 having been a NIKON photographer for some 30 years. I accidentally dropped onto this video due to the fact that I’m considering the Sigma 100-400 lens for Fujifilm X mount and really appreciate your review of this lens against Fujifilm ‘equivalent’ (so to speak). You mention that the image isn’t as sharp but this can be altered in post I think?
I’m so impressed that I’ve just LIKED and subscribed…

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the review! We have some Fujifilm camera reviews as well which cover a lot of camera features, so these may be useful to you :)
You can do some sharpening in post-production, but I don't think you'll feel the need to. The Sigma lens is a very good lens - it's just that in our testing alongside the Fujifilm equivalent, the Fujifilm was technically sharper. You'll see lots of other reviews which can barely detect the difference between them. I wouldn't feel the need to have to apply any sharpening in post.

@@WilkinsonCameras I’ve just ordered the lens and await its delivery so thank you for its review. Fujifilm seems to be becoming popular so perhaps you might increase your content with Fujifilm ?

@@jamesss1953 Hopefully you bought it from us! ☺ We have a lot of brands to fit in, but we have a great relationship with Fujifilm so hopefully they'll keep sending us the products to review (even after we cheated on them with Sigma 🥲) but... later today we will be releasing our Fujifilm GFX 100 II review!

    Real life review. nicely done.
I own the XF100-400 since 2018 or so. When I bought it there was no other long range telephoto for Fuji X. Also got a XF70-300 a few months back. At the same focal length and f stop definitely 100-400 has a better contrast and is sharper on computer screen. So even in Fuji range of lenses there is a bit of a difference between a Red Badge and regular XF lens.
Yes, the overall size and weight is Sigma is desirable. That lens collar might be adding a 120gm or more to Fuji 100-400. Just the collar foot is about 75gm
BTW, I've 3 zoom lenses from Fuji and all can be zoomed in by pulling at the hood and pushed back to zoom out. So too with my older SONY A mount lenses. So is it really a special feature on Sigma to differentiate or I shouldn't be pulling and pushing Fuji lenses to zoom?

Thanks for watching - glad you enjoyed it! Regarding the push/pull function of the Sigma and your existing Fujifilm lenses - the Fujifilm lenses aren’t specifically designed for that. It won’t do them any harm, but the Sigma lenses with that design feature built in are noticeably better at push/pull and are also more suited to it. Ergonomically they’re designed with that function so it’s easier on them ☺️

Funny thing is the price range. In my country there is 330€ difference between Fuji and Sigma (+ collar).
    Sigma + collar
    1139€ + 129€ = 1268€
    Fuji 1598€
I am really torn between them, if it were half the price, Sigma would be my choice, but that sharpness you mentioned, made me thing twice.

If you thinking to skip this, you are good doing so. This lens at focal length between 300-400mm, and the subject distance at about 30m and above, you'll find the images softer.

I don't think so, as I am having this model Sigma 100-400 at 300-400mm long end, the images are softer, pretty bad if you cropping it, my 40mp sensor doesn't help much.
