    The fact that he refused to walk away when he had plenty of opportunity and people were telling him to leave tells me he stayed, because he was ANGRY, not fearful.
    Everyone that believes he was fearful refuses to explain that part other than, "he didn't have to leave." If you're fearful in a situation and you have the chance to leave you're leaving. You're not repeatedly turning your back on the teens you're fearful of.
    The people that side with Miu here can't get past the defendant's framing, "old, feeble man got bullied by teens and defended himself," bs.
    This guy wasn't feeble. He stabbed FIVE PEOPLE with zero injuries to himself. Someone's that feeble isn't doing that... wtf is wrong with you?

      @@Anna-ww4pv Yet, he's the one claiming he was in fear, yet he didn't leave despite having plenty of chances. Instead, he stayed and took out a knife and even turned his back on the teens multiple times.
      Instinctively, people don't turn their back on others unless they're running away.
      Also, Miu proved he's a liar and that he'll lie about anything to get out of trouble, and even make things up completely.

But the second altercation after everybody appeared to calmdown , he had his knife ready , clearly in the video And then attacks the girl who was speaking to him. Instead of just explaining what he was doing “hey guys im looking for a phone”, nope. This rebuttal was a master stroke. I'm so gratified that he was found guilty. I was hoping he would be convicted of murder, but I'm not surprised that 12 people wouldn't agree to that. Had I been on the jury I would've spent a lot of time trying to convince the holdouts that the case for at least 2nd degree murder had been proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
    The people defending him seem to be callous and damaged people. It's a real sign of a sick society that so many people would defend him.

    • @marymac789
      @marymac789 9 месяцев назад +2

      I also believe it should have been premeditated murder. It was testified, by HIS own group, that he went back to his group at least once. I believe that he went back to fetch that knife and that is what makes it premeditated. I also believe that you are absolutely right with respect to those who defend him being damaged people. How else could they relish in the death of a 17-year old boy? They fell for the defense attorney's lies as well. Not able to see the truth of things with their own eyes. Those who took the stand, with the exception of Mui, DID tell the truth of what they saw that day. They all admitted that they were wrong in taunting the creature and they all admitted that they should not have done that. They admitted their short comings in the action. NO LIES...it was two years ago and they had gone through a horrible tragedy. Mui did nothing but lie through his teeth and kept blaming the victims.

      @@marymac789I agree with almost everything you said. I disagree with calling those that only watched the video as being callous, you can get a soft spot for someone that is older, that is being verbally attacked by teens, and some people really latch onto a stand your ground defense, they don't believe in just walking away from trouble, or trying to deescalate with words.

    • @martygras378
      @martygras378 4 месяца назад +1

      The problem with people not using words, de-escalating, or walking away, if we have too many people that have a first instinct of 'standing my ground', we are then likely to see a lot more murders.
      I could have stood my ground murdered people many times in my past, but I chose to either walk away, or to de-escalate with words. I am sure that is true for many people, and it's kept us out of prison.

    What people really need to recognize is that this was an adult man, not some poor decrepit elderly person who barely spoke English, but affluence intelligent adult male approximately the same age as the fathers of these children. This would put him into the position of being the person that makes the adult decisions in this situation.
    Truly all he had to do was walk away but instead he chose to physically aggress upon these kids.
    Doing so is what caused them to call for other people to help.
    Enter into the seen some barely adults. The first person he physically assaulted with someone who had just entered the scene and was telling him to do exactly what he needed to do, which was walk away.
    Why is the 22-year-old more mature than the 53-year-old?
    Whatever justified him to punch this woman in the face? Absolutely nothing, but that is the thing that sparked the rest of the physical confrontation. Notes, he already had the knife in his hand. Contemplating whether or not he was going to stab this woman or punch her. He chose to punch her and then stab a different woman.
    The methods that he used to stab these people and gut two of them we're not impromptu. It takes force, rage, and effort to stab someone deeply and for that matter to gut someone with a tiny knife.
    He then ran off and tried to cover up his crimes. He was calm when police met him. He was not nervous, nor did he show any remorse or upset that he had harmed other people. Most people who do that in self-defense feel very bad about it. Most people who act in self-defense are very honest with the police and everyone around them.
    He ran off, put on a disguise, and tried to sneak out and escape accountability. He then lied to police with a straight face and a calm demeanor like a total psychopath.
    Do I like the kids behavior in this situation? No, but none of them committed any executable offense. They were kids and he was an adult and he decided he wanted to hurt people that day. He deserves consequences. I have a feeling he's gotten away with a lot of harming others

    Let's be clear here. He didn't have to turn around and re-approach those people. He didn't have to brandish a deadly weapon. He could have tried to leave. He never did. He pulled a knife and held it by his side, and stood there. He waited. He didn't run. Self defense goes out the window.
    That being said, in the video, it seems like Miu was in actual danger for his life twice. But considering the above, he didn't need to be in either situation.
    1. When he was first punched into the water and then struck again, and stood over.
    2. After they were pushing him into the water from behind his back when he was already down.
    I'd think second degree murder is more accurate here, but not first. Brandishing the knife and standing still instead of running implies he intended to do great harm, but this doesn't look pre-meditated, unless we are arguing that his pre-meditation is within about 10-20 seconds of the incident.

    The legal concept of "consciousness of guilt" is amply exhibited by Defendant. Washing blood off the murder weapon before throwing it into bushes on the opposite side of the river, immediately adding disguise of a shirt, hat and sunglasses before attempting to drive away from the crime scene are a few prominent indicators of "consciouness of guilt".

      No it isn't. He left the river dressed the same way as when he went in. Wanting to have nothing further to do with the knife is also not convincing. If he REALLY wanted to hide the knife, he could have removed it from the river, or buried it. Throwing it on the river bank makes it EASIER to find later. A person in shock can to lots of things that we don't understand.
