this parable is not about money, just as the parable of the sower is not about farming... if u interpret it with money in mind u will miss the msg... Who are the stewards during the time of Old Testament? Pharisees, Chief Priests, Scribes... and take it from there... this forum don't allow me sufficient space to fully explain... but that's is how u start to understand it...

Mr. Yu, thanks for your lively presentation. Are you open to an unorthodox idea? The steward was "accused of being wasteful," but Jesus was also "accused of wasting his time with sinners." Although the steward was holding a copy of the contract that showed the debts, he asked the debtors to honestly report their debt. Jesus already knows our sins, but he asks us to honestly report our debts (sins) to him. Jesus knows that we cannot pay God back for all our sins (the debts we owe). Is there a possibility that the steward in this story knew that for some reason, such as bad crops that year due to bad weather, that it was not possible for the debtors to pay their debts in full? In that situation, getting partial repayment from the sincere debtors was the best the master could have

IMHO, maybe the answer to this confusion on Jesus parabel about this shrewd manager is rooted on what Jesus ever said (Matthew 25 : 34-36): what you did to these poor people or these people in jail, etc. is what you did to the Father. The boss is already rich. God the Father is rich. He doesn't need money from us. What He needs is that we are smart with money and prioritise to help others (like helping the employees who borrowed from the rich man). Maybe helping and loving others is more important for Jesus than us just falsifying document that doesn't really matter to the boss, God the Father, Jesus himself. And the shrewd manager doesn't really receive any money or enjoy the "discounted" money directly because he is just on a survival mode rather than taking his boss's money. If the shrewd manager is later put in jail because of his act then the employees whom he helped could visit him in jail. That's also what Jesus wanted us (those who were helped earlier) to do.
I enjoyed listening to your sermon, brother. Greetings from Indonesia.
