Thank you for much for making this video. I just purchased a new printhead that came with new setup cartridges. The instructions indicated that your must use the new setup cartridges with the new printhead, yet I got this same error message "Do not use setup cartridges" and the old cartridges wouldn't work either. Following your instructions resolved the problem.
Close enough - It worked. My 8600 would not allow me to press the "Home" button while the setup cartridges were in place. It was not illuminated and nothing happened when I pressed it. I remove the cartridges, closed the door, allowed the printhead to move back to the right. Then the "Home" button illuminated. I followed you steps exactly after that. At the end, when you opened the door, so did I and I inserted the setup cartridges at that time. Viola!
Thank you for getting back to me with the details requested. Could you follow the steps mentioned below- 1. Touch the Home button once, then the Back button twice, then the Home button once. 2. Open the ink cartridge access door, and then close it. A Load Paper message displays on the control panel display, and the printer begins initializing. 3. If the initialization does not begin, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does. 4. Follow the prompts on the control panel display to complete initialization. Let me know how that goes for you. 😊
Hi, thanks for the video. The issue is, after following all of your steps, it now keeps showing me an error message about my ink leaking. It won't go away. Please help. Thank you in advance.
I’ve looked all over. Having an issue with my HP Office Jet Pro 9015. It came with damaged setup cartridges. Put in standard replacements and it says it needs the set up cartridges. Don’t know what to do. Please help
Hi, & Thank You for the Video. I watched your informative video with interest and was hoping I could do same with my HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP printer with 971 970 8 inch cartridges, I was given 2 complete sets of ink cartridges when I first had the printer from new, both sets were SETUP ink cartridges, I have just tried to use the new set but I'm getting the exact same message as in your video "do not use SETUP Cartridges" I tried your method and followed each step but I cannot get past the system configuration menu to get to Ink intialization status as my printer does not show this option, only "Service Ink contaner or Duplex Module" I don't know what to do next? Can You help please if you know this printer, Thanks

I have a HP 8600 printer using the 950xl and the color cartridges. My black ink is low and I have new setup cartridges. It gives "HP protected cartridge installed. Replace cartridges." Now none of the buttons are working includung the back. When I put my old cartridge and do the setup as described and then put the setup cartridge it is still giving the same error

Will this work with cartridges from a different region as well?
I got to the ink set up and when I opened the door to set it and closed it the screen never changed to accept the cartridges? I have the 8630.
hi, can you help with 8730
Do you think this will work on HP 950/951 Instant Ink Cartridges?
Once you unlock it, How do you reverse it?
Wondering the same thing. Now I am getting an error saying: "Remove and inspect cart for leaks..." Not going away...

Hi, & Thank You for the Video. I watched your informative video with interest and was hoping I could do same with my HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP printer
with 971 970 8 inch cartridges, I was given 2 complete sets of ink cartridges when I first had the printer from new, both sets were SETUP ink cartridges,
I have just tried to use the new set but I'm getting the exact same message as in your video "do not use SETUP Cartridges" I tried your method and followed each step

8740 is not same as 8610/8620/8630 generation. HP blocked it.
I have a HP 8600 printer using the 950xl and the color cartridges.
My black ink is low and I have new setup cartridges.
It gives "HP protected cartridge installed. Replace cartridges."
Now none of the buttons are working includung the back.
