A huge thank you! Regarding my HP 6978, I bought non-HP ink a couple years ago but the printer refused to use it. Your firmware downgrade process has worked flawlessly. I’m now using the non-HP ink that was previously rejected.
I just want to add for others that when you run the downgrade firmware program.. It MUST say "ready" before you can downgrade the firmware. For me, I had to actually remove the "offending" third-party cartridge BEFORE downgrading in order for it to say "ready".. Another thing is that during the downgrade process, the printer will shut down and then the screen will turn green before it finishes.. This is normal. Once it finishes, your third party cartridge should work fine. DO NOT forget to disable automatic firmware updates otherwise HP will try to mess it up again. Ps thanks so much for this video!!
Thank you Handy Doctor! I fixed my HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer too. I asked my toner supplier and he said he can fix for me for $30 and I need to bring the printer to him. Your video is awesome and helped me save $30.

When you ran the firmware downgrade, did you do it over a WiFi network or USB connection from PC to HP 6978 printer?
