    This was an amazing instructional and practical break down of defence, thank you. I would love to see more of these, and drills on how to implement these systems at practice. Also, if you have this on the attacking side that would be great too.

    Many thanks for making this video I think you are very generous to share your methods and philosophy with everyone. Loved how you value player safety and promote fun and enthusiasm but most of I love how you encourage talk as that is a skill that players can take off the field and use for life.

    Priceless video, thanks for uploading. Graham has an excellent way of explaining the process but also the reason why

    Given World Rugby's crackdown on high tackles, how does that change the wrap techniques used to shut down offloads?

    • @totalrugby_PD
      @totalrugby_PD  Год назад +1

      A great question! If it is brought in and the tackle height is lowered to waist level, then obviously, you would not be able to 'wrap' the ball. The emphasis has to be about how to defend against the offload and how we coach the decision-making around that... we have to get players to understand who is the tackler and when the tackle is secured, while doing so tracking and recognising potential threats and react accordingly to any offload. I'll be posting some material on this DM soon! Thanks for your comment!

    How would this translate into defending a pod formation?

    • @totalrugby_PD
      @totalrugby_PD  Год назад +3

      Hi, this would really depend on what POD system the attack are using? All the 'inside' defence around the ruck etc would stay the same, however depending on what the attack are doing, the defence could increase the resource around the ruck and have a double guard, so A, B, B, C defenders and maybe adjust spacing in the wider channels. Other than that, number up and go get 'em!

    Which year was this presented?

      Hi Riaan, thanks for the comment, this was recorded back in 2009 at a defensive seminar at Murrayfield Stadium. Although the game has moved on since then, all the basic principles are the same...

      You can tell this guy has played league, when I watched this I was saying this is exactly like league defense structure and thinking. Bloody gold

    • @totalrugby_PD
      @totalrugby_PD  Год назад +3

      You certainly can! A lot of union defences are coached by ex-league players and coaches and have been for some time. More videos of Graham coaching will be uploaded soon! Thanks for watching!
