Wow! "You're singing right into someones ear" to explain holding the mic closer and farer is the best tip I've come across so far for microphone singing!
I like how the background is so white, it seems like she is in heaven, and it would be funny that the first thing you see when you die is a nice lady angel teaching you how to use a microphone
This is one of the BEST vids on mic technique I've seen for sure. Your demo and explanations, the reasoning behind every technique, are on point. Glad I found your channel. I'll be exploring more of your vids :)
Same here, I have a lower voice, so it sounds so much better if I sing it a pinch lower😉 I always practice it without music just enough. So I don't get distracted by the music when I do karaoke!🤗
Tip - when plugging into a guitar amp as most support mics do not stand close to it otherwise it produces something called feedback which bounces from the mic to the speaker which is the loud screeching sound and don't shout or "cup" a mic
Hi Freya...this was very helpful since I'm not too tech savvy. I'd love to take your class but I'm not financially able to do so and I depend on these little youTube videos to help me along with my singing. Thanks again.
Yes useful video i am just learning, hope i will be ok with basic mic that came with my busker unit, having to manage until i can get one tailored to my voice, i have felt that the mic makes my voice higher and quieter less all round opera tone than it actually is, anyone any advice? Appreciate it, thanks 👍🏻
I have problems during open mic evenings as I never get to try out the sound and sometimes what comes out is not suitable at all.... Take a song like Summertime, instead of jazzy it comes out thin. I will try this... Like you I also busk. We have a not expensive but nice PA
Thank you very much for this! The one that i ever asked you when you were doing youtube live... Really need this video, thank you thank you thank you...
Great job demonstrating mic technique. For some reason, there isn't a lot of this on the internet lol. Question, when in a studio and working with a condenser mic, what would be your recommendation on how to apply the same concept? You can't exactly hold on to a condenser mic so.... Thank you again.
Thanks helps cause I’m quiet a soft spoken person and this is how I like to sing and they told me to project which just doesn’t match my personality as well because I’m timid and it was making me feel really down to change my personality for a song I’m supposed to enjoy singing
You have to match a song to your own style/personal voice. But don’t forget to practice other singing skills and genres as well outside of performing to keep up with voice range
Idk how I do this but when I sing in other lounge like Korean I don’t know anything about Korean but I can actually sing and even rap 😂 and idk how I sound good without music but still better with music cause sometimes I forget lyrics 🥺 idk how I do that like how can I sing in other languages? And how do I sound good?
Hi! 1) you can watch videos in which the korean song...it will be korean but the letters will be in english which will make it easier for you to pronounce... 2) you might sing better without music because you are off key or at a different pitch. 3) In case ur forgetting lyrics, you can try writing it on paper and keep listening to it as much as you can... By writing it in paper (in case it's a Korean song) it will help you build ur pronounciation more If you need help with anything else let me know 😁
Omg thank you. I was just practicing out loud in my backyard, free from judgement from my “jokesters” of family members, and I wondered about how it would be if I actually got over my fear of singing. I have always wanted to sing and dance, but felt like I’d be made fun of by my family. 31 and it is still traumatizing to even try and hit high pitches and finding my brother recording me, posting it, and laughing afterwards (I don’t think one of them would, but it’s a rational fear based on past trauma that no longer should apply as I am living by myself now) But after all that, I loved these lessons, I might go to some karaoke and sing both parts of that has a song I’ve rehearsed a 135 times, like Shallow w/ Lady Gaga & B.C. or Nuestra Aflicción by Pxndx, or more specifically the lead singer Jose (Pepe) Madero. Omg his voice is so raspy and high pitched. Could you do a video on how to sign like him?
When I recorded my voice with my headphone's mic,the sound of the air I exhaled got recorded too. So, if I record my voice with a mike without anything will the air that i will exhale will be recorded too and disrupt the song?
How does this mic compare to the TZ Stellar X2 for voiceover work and some vocals? As a beginner RUclipsr, I am looking for one good and fair price mic
Very interesting video. The part about the band playing too loud, I've had it soooooo many times with different bands, with and without sound engineer of any kind (mostly not "pros") The drums get quickly into the mic on stage, the solo guitarist always "can't hear himself enough" so plays too loud... And in my personal experience it's even worse in rehearsal : the space often Not made for that acoustically speaking, the loud speakers for the voice not always the "best in the world" with the same instruments playing too hard and or loud... I often say : guys, I don't have a volume button on my throat, the mix table is on verge of saturation, I can't go louder you've gotta go lower. (Rock singer : style of power singer likeJanis joplin with a lower voice close to System of a down main V... so "loud" I am for sure... they still often have that bad habbit of going louder)
Freya, do you have any recommendations for inexpensive, quality mics? I am thinking of getting the Yeti Blue microphone. Any suggestions for inexpensive, quality video cameras?
What's the purpose of the mic ? home studio, live on smartphone, concert Real-Live, which type/genre of music (you don't use the same material for a metal singer than for a pop-dance singer)

As a amateur karaoke singer. I thank you for this

Do you mean not shouting into a mic?
And what is cupping?

Is there a way to have a mic pick up your singing and feed it back to headphones so you can hear yourself while practicing??
Don't do facebook. Any other medias?
