9 years on and this easily stands up against the prequel saber fights
there are a few small things, such as the guy on the left lifting his rear foot forward to kick over a blade that wouldn’t have otherwise come near the foot, that stood out to me, but nothing coming near when Darth Maul just watch his enemy zoop over him, pause, and then slice.

in the unedited video, lets assume that they are just using the lightsaber Hilts, no rod attached to clash against. It would "feel" realistic, because protons particles are massless, so basically, if lightsabers existed, its would feel like your just carrying the hilt of the lightsaber, when you turn it on/saber comes out, its would weigh the same regardless

@alexandrelopes308 Yeah, I actually liked how raw that fight felt! An experienced but hurt Kylo versus an untrained but determined Ray. Everything else is actually embarrassing 🤦
The dual bladed is using the forbidden form (For those who didn't knew: Exist a style of lightsaber fight whom use the idea of turn on and off the saber, the Jedi council thought it would be to lethal and banned, while the Dark Side thought is a coward style, since he use the deception and surprise attacks, so they didn't liked too much)
Mildly incorrect here. See, that's not exactly the case. The problem both the Jedi and sith had was using it as a tactic in blade locks (turn it off, go past the blade, turn it back on, slice em). In particular they were mostly concerned with a type of lightsaber designed to flicker unpredictably. When the red guy turned off his blade(s) it was to avoid injuring himself on the other end of the blade, not to cheaply overcome a blade lock, which was the specific thing that they found issue with, and we've seen this be done by both Jedi and Sith (See in particular the Jedi Temple Guards in the Clone Wars who do exactly this with their Lightpikes).
TL;DR - You're right that the forbidden style was turning off an on the blades but wrong about how and when.
Only if it's used lethally it wasn't used like that only to confuse.

GoddyofWar We actually have had numerous encounters with Police officers when filming lightsaber fights. They are usually really cool and ask a lot of questions. They'll watch for a bit, make sure things are copeisedic, and be on their way.
You think this is dangerous, when I was in school me and my friend and his little brother were having an airsoft fight and a cop stepped out of his cruiser with his hand on his gun. I threw my airsoft gun in a bush before he got out though lol, he still saw it and asked to see it.

My favorite thing is how both coordinated like they trained in their respected style but also felt very improvised like they didn’t know what to expect in the fight and had to adapt to the fight.

Dark side is more deadly powers and quicker gain. Light side is slower to learn with incapacitory powers, a sufficiently powerful jedi is on par with a sith as the powers even out with enough practice. Abeloth is that powerful because she was a weak or non force user she submerged herself in the pond of knowledge (or something) and became that, if Grandmaster luke did the same he could instantly kill her.
Rewatched this a few times. The choreography was stellar, but the acting was top notch as well!
At 0:27 you see the SITH is pretty neutral about going into battle.
As the battle goes on you see the SITH slowly become more aggressive and by 1:55 where he turns away and bares his teeth, he’s beginning to use his SITH anger to begin SITH battle meditation like Darth Maul used before killing Master Quigon Jinn.
By 2:14 his SITH meditation is complete and he is now channeling the full power of the dark side allowing it to amp him up. Like when Anikin used the dark side in the WBW when he was approaching Asoka.
At this point he’s wired and amped, his attacks are so violent and aggressive. The battle is already over. Such a great job!!

If only the actual movies had choreographies this elaborate. What struck me was the long constant shots where you really appreciate the work they put in learning the choreography.

Those long shots are the hardest. For every take that works, there are about 20 takes where the performers messed up.
