This is a great series. Could you do one on what your first day at the event looks like?
Finding your space, signing on, scruttineering, lining up, lights that sort of thing?
My step daughter is doing her first events this year and despite competing for the 5 or so years, she will ignore me but not RUclips. (Better still if you can do it in the style of a 15 second dance and post it on TikTok

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, first day at a sprint is on the list for this series. We're still compiling video for it though as we didn't plan it last season.

Are there any physical criteria for obtaining a Licence? Is it correct that Licenses are valid for one year between fixed dates?

A licence is valid for a calendar year. E.g. you need a 2024 licence until 31 December 2024. There are some medical criteria that would need a doctor examination but this doesn't apply to the vast majority of people.

As a first timer this year I notice with my licence (RS Interclub/UK only) it comes with an upgrade card.
Should I get that card filled in at events or is it purely for if I want to do international events?
Or does it yield a higher grade of licence so worth doing?
    Thanks.

The upgrade card allows you to upgrade to a National licence. You'll need this if you step up to a National level event or if you're competing in a Sports Libre or Racing Car that needs a National licence.

@speedonscreen thank you for clearing that up.
Is it correct I just need to get it filled in by an official at the events each time I attend a different one?
Is it a specific official? Or would any official involved in running the event be able to confirm my good conduct?
One last question how many events before it is that you're able to upgrade?

You would normally hand in the card at signing on for the clerk to sign. They will observe you during the day. Speak to the entries secretary and ask them for the process for that event. From memory, it's 3 or 4 events to upgrade, although as it's quite some time since I did, my memory is a little hazy!

@speedonscreen thank you. Every day's a school day learning something new. 😊

@@gmballistic506 I believe 6 events to upgrade, but it's not something I'd do unless needed. When I switched cars and needed the new license (after 10 years of competing) I didn't even need the card, I just emailed the licensing department and supplied them with evidence that I'd competed in enough events
