@@celiafrostborn so he would've purposely played less optimally until he eventually plays optimally andcleans the game Yeah totally hard game, and that's totally what a pro nuzlocker would do
@@ASteveVaiFan in his rom hack ranking video he called insurgence a boss rush mode: there's so many resources available to the player to essentially manipulate your team to be perfect for each fight. The game is only hard from a decision making perspective, but so long as you are thorough and disciplined before every fight you should be fine. Admittedly the second gym is hard as balls in my experience regardless
The Hardcore mode added after this playthrough does take away some of your most powerful strategies while powering up enemies (and adding more boss trainers). Might genuinely be un-Nuzlock-able, but it would be cool to see Jan just play through a sufficiently hard hack normally for once.
28:00 was watching away and at this point thought my music started playing when I heard the Nier Automata soundtrack in the background only to realise it was your video. It made me smile to hear this! Loving the content
Dude I have never been so hyped during a Pokémon video, that was insane. You inspire me to learn more about Pokémon and nuzlocking all the insane plays you did, such a good video.
It's crazy to think that Radical Red used to be so easy compared to what it is now. And this is coming from someone who has actually beat Radical Red 4.0. I can't imagine I'm the first person who's said this but pChal should definitely play through this game again in 4.1. It's basically a completely different game now.
One of my favorite parts of the video comes really early on 4:03-4:06 where he first casually severly insults Keldeo - like holy shit what did Keldeo do to you - and literaly one second later blurs out the most benine english insult there is.
I find it funny that on my regular playthrough, Lorelei beat me loads of times, I changed to a team just to beat her, then pretty much stomped through the rest of the league with that team (with no knowledge of what any of their teams were). Meanwhile you say the first 3 are babies and it gets harder. I think Lorelei's ice team is among the hardest of the league. Note I also had a calm mind Suicune which i think just matches really well against so much of this league
He needs to revisit this game and do 4.1 hardcore. Although still not as difficult as an EK or RnB, it offers a very different nuzlocke experience that subverts traditional play. Normally in a nuzlocke you play with the pokemon as you encounter them, in Radical Red HC you're going to be changing your nature, ability, and moveset in each fight in order to manipulate the AI in a preferable manner. It definitely has the most sophisticated AI of any room hack and the defensive nature of it makes the strategy so much different.
I think it's going to be absolutely miserable. Not extremely hard, just miserable. Hardcore mode takes such large part of your toolkit away and on the other side drives up the offensive power of enemy teams so damn high that only small amount of strategies remain viable, even less in ruleset where you're not allowed to reset. I think it's extremely ill-fitted for Nuzlocking and takes away the fun of every run being completely different. Anything that relies on weather or terrain? Useless. Anything that likes to setup? Useless. You also can't any longer deal with the enemy terrains and weathers and most Pokemon have quite insane coverage so most Pokemon have no chance of tanking two or in many cases even one hit from enemy sweepers and wallbreakers. Your chances of success will mostly depend on how closely the Pokemon you roll fit into the playstyle the devs want you to play like. I'd still like to see that happen, watching streamer struggle is usually fun after all, but I don't think it's going to raise Jan's opinion about this game and it's viability for Nuzlocking.
4:02 Ok, I did NOT expect German out of the blue! I'm German as well, I watched your videos here and there and your English is so accent free that I didn't even notice that it isn't your native language! That's nuts :D I'm writing in English so everyone can still read this :)
I absolutely love how /vp/ was shitting bricks and claiming radical red is un-nuzlockable. And then PC does it on his second attempt like a true madlad
"Should've just played around the Max Natural Gift, you know, that thing that literally doesn't exist in Pokemon" Natural Gift in Gen 8 would actually make predicting Max Moves cancer
The AI does see your Swampert's Damp when trying to Explode at 4:28, it's just that it prioritizes seeing your megastone and reads your mega evolution which makes you lose Damp. So you could probably have spammed Power-up Punch for attack boosts until it ran out of Explosion PP as it would keep spamming it. This is why trainers with Earthquake may try to hit your Gyarados as long as you have a megastone equipped on it. Genuinely feels like the AI cheats a bit since it reads your items, like how the AI never will try to paralyze your mon if you have a Cheri berry unless you switch into it as it tries to paralyze a mon without the berry on them. If you know that the AI cheats in this manner you can kinda try to abuse it tho.
The AI definitely does cheat with knowing your sets, I tried the Brock rematch a bunch of times and he would always switch in his Omastar on my Gengar if it didn't have Energy Ball, but never switch it in if Gengar did have Energy Ball despite the move itself having never been used. It just knows what sets you have in advance.
I've got to your channel a couple of months ago but this recent days I've watched most of your videos, merry Christmas my man, keep it up and I hope you stay well!
I’d love to see a hardcore mode of this one day. They take away a lot of setup moves and stuff like toxic stall. It’s incredibly hard now I feel like early your encounters really do matter. The teams are a lot harder as well
@@jaimereupert4247 I bet randomizers are fun but I hate it conceptually with how hard hardcore mode is. I think the consistency of the guaranteed encounters makes calcing and preparing a lot less of a headache. Like if you don't have a plan for kartana in the grass gym or get unlucky with mons you just get swept. Planning around a randomizer sounds like a nightmare lol
@@zxyen1629 from some of the guides and walkthrough runs I've seen of people playing this, the main battles (gym leaders and rival) have the same mons. They used the same ones for me that they did for them. Also idk about on hardcore or any other mode other just the normal randomizer option. Didn't want to try them yet, just wanted to have the starters and available pokemon randomized. And even without any other options turned on, you still have a lvl cap, still can't use items in trainer battles and it always on set mode. Plus it changed some stuff, like no more ohko moves or being able to put more than one mon to sleep at a time. Stuff like that, it tells you all the changes when you go to face Brock.
@@jaimereupert4247 yeah I've been playing it. I'm just saying hardcore is a step above the normal run as far as teams go and even without a randomizer, a nuzlocke is so incredibly difficult. But you could get insane mons in a randomizer. I'll definitely try it out someday

@@celiafrostborn so he would've purposely played less optimally until he eventually plays optimally andcleans the game
Yeah totally hard game, and that's totally what a pro nuzlocker would do
@@ASteveVaiFan in his rom hack ranking video he called insurgence a boss rush mode: there's so many resources available to the player to essentially manipulate your team to be perfect for each fight. The game is only hard from a decision making perspective, but so long as you are thorough and disciplined before every fight you should be fine. Admittedly the second gym is hard as balls in my experience regardless
All we need now is for Jan to make Radical Red Kaizo where you only get terrible Pokémon, and somehow the opponent’s Pokémon are even stronger.
The opponent uses Hard Stall against you
Stall with Arena Trap
the opponent has gen 1 evs
Somehow Palpatine returned vibes
The Hardcore mode added after this playthrough does take away some of your most powerful strategies while powering up enemies (and adding more boss trainers). Might genuinely be un-Nuzlock-able, but it would be cool to see Jan just play through a sufficiently hard hack normally for once.

I had to do a double take when he suddenly started speaking german. Really unexpected to suddenly hear your mother tongue in a english video XD
@@Wolftatzeyou know that he is german? XD
I think in a blind run the scarf ditto is perfect. Especially if someone tried cheesing the fight with setup spam
"I don't always lose my Pokemon...but when I do...it's to selfdestruct or explosion. Stay thirsty my friends"
Note I also had a calm mind Suicune which i think just matches really well against so much of this league
lance and bruno are way harder
That's nuts :D
I'm writing in English so everyone can still read this :)
I absolutely love how /vp/ was shitting bricks and claiming radical red is un-nuzlockable. And then PC does it on his second attempt like a true madlad
never listen to 4chan about anything for any reason. Big mistake
"Should've just played around the Max Natural Gift, you know, that thing that literally doesn't exist in Pokemon" Natural Gift in Gen 8 would actually make predicting Max Moves cancer
28:51 I love how excited he gets here when he wins the 50/50
Let's hear you say this with the new Hardcore Mode that just came out.
I’ve been watching some of your old videos, and seeing the sub goal on your streams increase every few months is fuckin awesome. Good shit Jan
Dude this Guy is growing so quick what the heck! Well keep up the great content man
i love the "cocky" glasses for the E4
I've got to your channel a couple of months ago but this recent days I've watched most of your videos, merry Christmas my man, keep it up and I hope you stay well!
Missed opportunity to name "Will Smith" "Quill Smith"
I’d love to see a hardcore mode of this one day. They take away a lot of setup moves and stuff like toxic stall. It’s incredibly hard now I feel like early your encounters really do matter. The teams are a lot harder as well
Or even a randomizer nuzlocke. It's what I'm currently playing with. My first attempt. 😮😩🤦🤷😂
