Loved the video, but I do have one general note. I personally disagree with the golden void. While I definitely understand where you are coming from, I think it really is supposed to be a congratulations. I mean, letting Leon- sorry, "The Lion Man" have a sixth of his soul missing seems like it will leave him in a negative state. And sure, each waddle dee may look nearly identical, they do have slightly different color shades, and when thinking about it, the human heart believes in no man left behind. That's why King Dedede's sacrifice near the end of the main game was so touching to watch. Each "little thing" is more than a little thing, it's an adventure. And while there may be nothing to truly congratulate you and nothing left to truly do, it feels fufilling that you did everything you can to make everyone happy. The Waddle Dees are all back, Leon is back to his old self, and our good friend Elfilin is back to full force once again. Even in the gotchas, they are gifted like friendship bracelets from the locals of the town. It's not like you just get a statue for free, you have to earn it. Or maybe I'm just trying to cope that me achieving this ending makes me a terrible person. Take you pick.
I think both interpretations work actually. I 100%'d the game too, but the reason I found it satisfactory was because of all the rewards I was given along the way. Namely, the figurine you get for every milestone. You get one for saving all the Waddle Dees, L̶e̶o̶n̶ "The Lion Man's" Soul gets you one. The weapon smith, the cafe, the game place, the mail man, and even the item shop. And these figurines give tidbits of lore that are so either cute, awesome, or creepy. Like the fact that the ape boss attacked the Waddle dee town at least 30 times while you were away, but meta knight beat him off every time. Or the fact that Kirby personally feels that working at the cafe and NOT eating the food he was serving was one of the hardest things he had to do, and that is humorous given the feats he has done both in this game and in this franchise. The actual Journey to a 100% is more than worth the effort. But the actual reward for a 100% is just a picture and a music change for the figurine selection page, even though by that point you've already likely read all the figurines. So the meaning of the 4th ending changes based on WHY you got it. If you were like Kirby and was enjoying the adventure every step of the way, taking your time and allowing each piece of the game to speak for itself, then while the final reward is lame, it ultimately means nothing and you leave completely satisfied. But if you came at it with the approach of the Fecto Forgo, and consumed everything only for that final milestone, then the meaningless of 100% will hit you like a truck. Pun intended.
Even after 100%, it's still worth it to kick back and play through levels again for multiple reasons, be it taking in sights, trying to collect evidence to learn what really happened to the people here, translating this new language, or finding neat little details you hadn't noticed before.
I agree honestly. The moment he said that the "humans" (I personally believe this was the original home of Haltmann's species, but that's beside the point) destroyed the environment and made the world uninhabitable, despite the fact literally NOTHING in the game remotely implied that, that's when I knew he was reaching. Seriously, those were some Game Theory levels of leaps in logic.
@@ChaosServant-ll7pr Uhhhh... the climate crisis thing isn't ENTIRELY off base, it's just interpreting shiver star as part of this lost world's canon. Which is a reach, but not an unreasonable one. The only reason it's not just wild guessing and trying to connect previous games without reason, is because the director of the kirby games since super star ultra has been putting a lot of effort into connecting previous titles with current ones lore wise.
Wha- NO! That's not how any of that works. FF freaks out, the Butterfly comes in and lands on it, atomizes and absorbs FF to turn into Morpho Knight, you beat Morpho Knight, he retreats. When in that span of time does Fecto Forgo re-emerge from within MK to absorb the Butterfly?
@@lukasoliverleo3730 after defeating Morpho Knight, it's shown that Forgo survives and retreats. Chaos Elfilis IS Forgo, after absorbing the the energy left behind after Morpho Knight tries to deliver their stubborn soul to the afterlife. It's outright confirmed in game- Edit: I should have been clearer. The shilohuette after Morpho is defeated is chaos elfilis curled up! If you compare the shape to elfilis' intro, it's the exact same
@@star-aether Well, that order is important with its implications. One implies that the Butterfly/Morpho Knight will absorb powerful creatures and fight Kirby (aka the correct one), the other one implies that Fecto Forgo is much more powerful than the butterfly, who seemingly absorbed Galacta Knight, who was previously the strongest warrior in the series. There is a clear difference between what happens, and the second one would be weird, since a previously established character gets destroyed by a new character just one game after. Just explaining since you make it sound like it doesn't matter, which it does in the full context.
4:50 The invasion is not 30 years old. 30 is the number of years that passed after the accidental creation of Elfilin. The invasion made by Fecto Elfilis (Because that is the actual entity that invaded and not Fecto Forgo), is ancient as hell. The recording was made only 30 years after it happened. Said in christian: Fecto Forgo, the first half of Fecto Elfilis, has been in stasis for hundreds of years, if not thousands. (That's why "Eternal Echo of the Thrilling Tour our our" is constantly repeating "AND HERE WE ARE" because Fecto Forgo became traumatized by hearing that audio for millennia). 9:15 The butterfly didn't come by chance. Morpho Knight is the canonical angel of death of Kirby games, he detects the incoming fall of great warriors, and then he absorbs them to face whoever was about to defeat them. Morpho was able to feel that Fecto Forgo's Soul was about to be defeated by Kirby, and so, he proceeded to absorb Fecto Forgo to fight against Kirby, it was not Forgo the one absorbing the butterfly. "The resulting creature..." Morpho Knight was not born from that moment, he had already existed for a very long time, just not canonically until this game, as I said, he is an afterlife entity, akin to what we know as Valkyries when it comes to functionality. 12:23 Usually, every single "Extra hard secret boss" is not canon. Marx's Soul is not canon, just like Soul of Sectonia, ETC. However, Chaos Elfilis is the first extra-hard-secret boss of the Kirby franchise to be absolutely canon. After his soul was devoured by Morpho Knight, he became a prisoner inside the butterfly, but after Kirby defeated Morpho, Fecto was able to break free, and that's the moment when he absorbed part of the powers of Morpho Knight, ascending to Chaos Elfilis (He even does some of Morpho's attacks now). Also, the sportscaster of the arena clearly states that "The final Cup-z is placed in another dimension", giving context and canonicity to it. 13:34 Ending 1, ending 2, and ending 3, are all canon and are progressed in order. You kill Fecto Elfilis, re-dividing Fecto and Elfilin. Fecto's soul survives and traps Leongar in Forgo Dreams. You enter Forgo Dreams and rescue Leongar, then you try to vanish away from Fecto's Soul, but Morpho Knights eats Fecto before you can react. You dematerialize Morpho, and Fecto breaks free, absorbing Morpho's energy to be reborn as Chaos Elfilis, he no longer needs Elfilin to reach his ultimate form. After you kill Chaos Elfilis, the last fragment of Fecto's Soul is absorbed by Elfilin, thus, Fecto and Elfilin are finally one, again, but this time, the conqueror is no more, all that remains is Elfilin. For me, this is the game's actual ending when it comes to lore and canonicity, and personally, it made me feel that the game has only one major ending. However, your point of view is also absolutely valid too, when it comes to videogame design, there are indeed 3 endings, rewarding different kinds of players according to how old they are. Great video, I really liked it.
reasonable, but for one thing, It's possible the experiments have been going on for a long time, maybe even in the hundreds hypothetically, But there's no way the world we see is one that has been abandoned for anything like 100 years. concrete and other similar structures wouldn't last that long.
@@Nowolf There are some little things called THE FREAKING PYRAMIDS OF GIZA, human structures made with wheat and mud, that have lasted 4520 years. Do You really think that modern human structures could not last longer????? The roman roads and aqueducts, the olmeca Warrior heads, the aztec and maya temples THE FREAKING CHINESSE GREAT WALL. You underestimate human knowledge. Also, the "Ancients" that left The Forgotten Land are implied to be the Ancient Scientific faction that was responsible for the contruction of Galactic Novas, the Heart Pins used by Aeon Hero and freaking LOR STARCUTTER? Also, it is explained that The Beast Pack and all of it's members, were common animals that evolved till they became conciouss. All of that didnt happend 30 years ago. Edit: The parallel dimensional travel used by Lor Starcutter is an example of the technology developed by the Ancients after copying Fecto Elfilis powers, the portals are the same.
Kirby’s dodge was my best friend throughout the game. My favorite power was the space gun. It did massive damage when fully charged, but the best thing about it is the three shots you get after executing a perfect dodge. It just felt/looked so good when done.
I was more of a coward throughtout most of the game and didn't learn the doge well so ice was my best friend. I did have to learn to dodge with chaos elphilis and that's when I started to use sword kirby far more then ice. infact I almost stopped using ice because it's damage is hard to get off on constant moving enemies. Especially enemies that can reset the thaw altogether.
I agree this game is such a gem a modern classic for me. The music, atmosphere, Battles the whole nine yards. The best in the series as well cannot wait to see where they take the series next.
I think the best thing about the Kirby series regarding its multiple endings is that the team behind the series has been developing the multiple endings technique for at least 14 years now. Ever since Shinya Kumazaki became the director at HAL laboratory, almost all of the Kirby games have had the 4 endings mentioned in this video. It was only recently with Star Allies however, that I think the 4 endings strategy reached the level it is today thanks to the less-well-known Heroes in Another Dimension update. Things can only look up from here!
I think you hit spot on. But also, to some gamers, the 100% completionist screen to those players is aslo somthing for us to relish in. To know there are no more spoilers, to know that we have done it all, and that it is an experience we enjoyed. And some day, We may revisit this game for Euforia. Even in the end where we have consumed all, we still hang on to the good old days to keep us moving.
Very much journey vs destination. Some want their journey to be a nice cozy hike through some woods while others want to climb to the summit to Mt. Everest.
Exactly when he said if you feel dissatisfied I was so confused because I personally loved that single image just the idea that I completely finished the game
Thank you to everyone who subscribed, commented, and sent positive vibes my way while I was away from RUclips. You are the reason this channel is still going, and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on.
I just found you yesterday, through this very video, went back and watched your backlog (avoiding games I still want to play with no spoilers), and man, you are one of the better video game analysts I've seen. Everything's so well put together, and you get right to the point, filling out just enough of the plot details for all the analysis to make sense, but keeping the other game info sparse so there's still reason to play. I'm excited to see what you've been working on, Godspeed, I'll be enabling notifications so I don't miss it.
You have Morpho Knight all wrong, the butterfly is the one absorbing Forgo. He also first appeared as a secret boss in Star Allies, where he absorbed Galacta Knight, which is where he got his Knight body in the first place.
@@chimeraofscarlet8610 It is now. Morpho Knight connects the non-canon what if timelines from previous extra modes to the main canon, Japanese descriptions state that the butterfly can travel between realities. He got his knight body by absorbing Galacta Knight in the Guest Star mode from Star Allies, which he keeps when he appears again and absorbs Soul Forgo, continuing to use many of Galacta Knight's attacks as well.
@@Cri_Jackal or, an alternative theory that I’m rather fond of, Morpho’s knight form is his true form and he needs the power of a powerful soul to access it. I believe that Kirby, along with the three knights we’ve seen already, are in fact the four Aeon Heroes/ heroes of yore that sealed away Void Termina. I hardly think HAL would just throw away a character like Galacta, aka the only one confirmed to be an Aeon Hero, to bring Morpho into the series.
Some notes, because kirby's world building has a lot of prior context this video seems to be unaware of. The "human civilization" of the forgotten land is not confirmed or even implied to be real humanity, but rather likely "the ancients" a hyper advanced civilization in the kirby multiverse responsible for the creation of countless powerful artifacts and aspects of its world. "Entered a land of dreams" seems to imply that the ancients used forgos warp power to travel to kirbys universe at minimum, and likely dreamland itself, considering all of the advanced magical and non magical technology that exists there with no explanation. It could also imply the ancients, or at least the scientific half, originated there before moving to Halcandra. Secondly, the butterfly is, get this, an avatar of death itself that first appeared in the previous kirby game, star allies, that seeks out powerful tormented souls to assist in guiding them to the afterlife. It appears as a butterfly, but Morpho Knight is the form it's taken to fight us after absorbing Galacta Knight in the previous game, who was stated in the original Japanese text to be "a soul tired of living". Forgo managed to resist being completely assimilated or guided on by Morpho, though, and stole some of its power for themselves, which is how it managed to grow into chaos elfilis. The red butterfly has been present since return to dreamland, and butterflies as a visual have been with kirby since the beginning, implying it has been with us for a long time. I would recommend you read into kirby's deeper text, it is cool as shit. The RPG Monger has 2 videos that fairly thoroughly cover almost everything in a little bit over an hour total i believe.
Yeah, Kirby lore is insane, and I love to see the whiplash. Folks be like "ey, the cute Kirby games where he eats the little evil guys, so funny and cute haha", but then they go like "what in the absolute fuck is that monstrosity of a final boss", and then they read the lore and they're like "this is too much lore for a game about a pink marshmallow with a black hole for a stomach, goddammit, even the way I described Kirby is horrifyingly cute."
Ending 5: The forgotten One You found everything in the Game, even three HAL-Secrets in World 1, 3 and 6 BUT YOU INSTINCTS TELL YOU "THERE MUST BE MORE". EVERY WORLD NEEDS A SECRET. YOU WILL FIND IT, NOBODY FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET BUT YOU WILL BE THE ONE.
The ending of he who chases a red herring, one who is bored to no end and lives a lie in this game. And you delete your save hoping to re-live the experience of completing this game, erasing all your work, you soon realise your mistake... This is how humans consume everything and the big bang, aka the restart button will restart the cycle of consumptions dark path. (Idk if you understand all this, what i just said about ending 5 and its meaning)
@@entropy._boy I actually feel like this happened with FEZ. It's a deep game, chock-full of secrets, the final of which wasn't even "correctly" solved, and the secret final final secret essentially making you feel bad for "breaking the devs' hearts". And yet folks kept looking for more. Secrets that weren't accounted for the percentage. Stuff like hidden lore, in the artifacts, the areas, the paintings, even the sprites. But I feel like there's those folks who just love the ambiance, the style and the beauty of the landscapes (not to mention the music), and sometimes they just pop up the game to stroll around the world for a bit again.
Fun fact If you dodge, Kirby's next attack is the strongest one he can pull off, or close to it (i.e, Hammer Flip lv 2, Morpho Knight Sword final combo)
Also, for the Morpho Knight ability, if you hit multiple enemies before landing the final round slash or cleave, you heal more for each target you had hit in that combo. This also applies to the level 2 charge where Kirby spins around in a fiery tornado.
Being Fair they were kinda forced to do as that I think. Like, I cant imagine a game which goes around Main Hub World having multiple endings unless they made different save files or something *out of the story*
I feel like you can still go further even after the 4th ending, to a 5th ending of sorts. After you’ve done supposedly 100 percent completion you can do unnecessary maxing for gotchas and abilities, but there’s also being able to set more challenges, like for the coliseum, perhaps no death or no abilities. And apparently, there’s a few different things when you go on a new file after completing the 3rd ending, but there’s also being able to start again but perhaps with restrictions, or a challenge. It can still keep going for quite a while until… You’ve done everything. Done every file, maxed every mini game, done every challenge, found every secret and Easter egg, and sped-run to the best of your abilities. Then you’ve truly reached, the end, the true end of the content. Reaching this 5th ending can feel like having to depart with the game but it also feels like you had all the fun you ever could with it.
I played through until I got to that sweet Golden Void of 100% complete. I loved the little Gacha figurines and how kirby would happily stare at them in his house and all the little details the game designers went into their descriptions. We don't have Lore messages on the pause screen in this game. Oh no! it's in the statues themselves. These little figurines tell you so much about this world and little quirks and details that if you want the whole story, you have to find as many of the special ones that you can. For me, completing the game finally happened after I finally beat the final level of the serving minigame and got that final little figurine of a Waddle Dee who was brought back to town by my own efforts. I wanted to save the Dees because they were innocent. I collected the figurines because I love collecting in games, with a further drive and my desire to learn about the world/s and lore of that game and series. In the end, Forgotten Land will be remembered not only as Kirby's triumphant step into the third dimension in gameplay for the first time, but a feast for your gaming palette regardless of skill from start to finish. From a guy who felt he hasn't fully completed a game in a decade, I can proudly say this is a game WORTH completing, especially if you love Kirby.
I feel like, with how chill the remaining side challenges are after Chaos Elfilis, we could call this ending Spring Breeze, y'know? I dunno, it feels fitting to me.
So far I'm at Ending 2. I played straight through to that, then stopped for the reason you said; once you've consumed everything the game has to offer, there's nothing left. So I'm holding off on ending 3 and 4 and saving them for when I'm really craving more Kirby. That'll hold me over until the next game a little better.
Yeah other kirby games has also done this like with squeak squad & mass attack however a new cutscene at the theater would have been better as it would be a callback to the 100% cutscene in super star ultra, return to dreamland, and triple deluxe where kirby is on stage in one final dance.
@@HandheldGamer1991 not every single one. All the modern kirby games did but squeak squad, mass attack and probably some other gameboy advance early ds kirby did this congratulatory image/artwork thing.
While I do think it’s interesting that you can point to themes of consumption, right down to Kirby’s signature ability, but even if the 100% ending was trying to portray that theme, it doesn’t particularly do a good job of it. You compare it to the 100% completion of Zelda breath of the Wild, but it’s significantly more encouraged for you to 100% Kirby than it is to collect every last korok seed, a monotonous task that nets you a piece of poo. I had fun completing Kirby, even with the ball rolling minigame, I shudder at the very thought of truly completing breath of the Wild.
you should make one of these on "animal well" it also has 4 different endings *(major spoilers to the game ahead)* first one, simple, light all flames, defeat the manticore. second one is collecting all 64 eggs and collect the 65th egg to revive the manticore and drive it to a floating island. third is the bunnys, collect the 12 (i think?) bunnys with complicated puzzles the average player wouldnt bother to complete and finaly metamorphosize into a butterfly. fourth is the glyphs, uncover all the glyphs and finaly use them to uncover a map to the ultimate secret, headphones with developer notes to the crazy part of the comunity.
I was forced to learn dodge mechanics during the Sillydillo boss fight, it's actually impressive he went all the way up to Chaos Elfilis without using them.
I didn't know about dodging either, or rather how useful it is so I aldo missed out on the dodge counter move for blaster too. I bruteforced my way through the Ultimate Cup Z with Hammer and Blaster all the way to Chaos Elfilis, where I got my ass handed. Even if I somehow beaten it with a sliver of health remaining, its 3rd phase wouod totally wreak me. Then I learned not only about dodging but also about the absurdity of a powerhouse that is the Morpho knight sword
@@solidzack how did you do the forgo Isles without dodging? Especially the phantom masked dedede fight, that one took me more tries to beat than any other by quite a bit
@@solidzack that makes sense, although slides are just worse dodges and blocking isn't useful unless you use ice imo I can see how they could get you through most bosses
Your idea if consumption being a theme of the game was pretty interesting. I always interpreted the forgotten people being capitalists to a fault, but I didn't interpret the destruction of the forbidden continent as their doing. The wastes where life began features cargo ships still loaded with containers, and one of the redgar levels has a wonderia park roller-coaster. I saw this as the original land of the forgotten people, and the arrival continent as being where they evacuated to when the invasion first started. Elfilis very well could have drained that area of the ocean to prevent escape or blew in a sandstorm from another planet, etc The forgotten people, after elfilis was captured, rebuilt wonderia, built 2 malls to replace the one in the now desert, and rebuilt cities for people to live in. The arrival continent looks abandoned, but the forbidden land looks actively destroyed, yknow? Idk just my 2 cents this game shook me to my core when I first played it lol
Good vid, although if you ask me, I was perfectly satisfied with the 100% ending, as it was quite easy to reach and that you still get "tangible" rewards in the form of pictures in your house. Yes, it's not as flashy as the other three, but so wasn't the 4th ending of Odyssey (or even its 3rd!) And the game is already fun to complete, so having a JPEG is just the cherry on top - the destination and the journey, in a way. Just a precision: you don't actually need to check all optional checkboxes to reach 100%: there are at least two things you don't need: - reaching the target time in Treasure Roads (yes, it actually doesn't count and the reward is extremely meagre, only a few dozen coins) - enhance all your abilities to +star, including the non-final versions (and oh boy, given the absolutely obscene amount of rare stones you need for this, thank GOODNESS it doesn't count!) - you could also argue that a third thing is completing all Cups with no buffs or amiibo (as both are displayed on the results screen) but that's a stretch... Thanks for the vid!
Interestingly i had a similar experience in devil may cry 5. Nero can dodge last moment multible times even, but i wouldn't have tried if the bosses didn't force me to move
I got all waddle dees, spirit fragments, and treasure roads as I went through the worlds. Or so I thought, and the last one was the meta knight sword challenge in the Winter Horns.
When you’ve 100% completed the game, and got all copy abilities to +⭐️ but then you realize that if you get 9 of a figure you get a crown on its page and now you have to spend all the star coins in the world getting 9 of each figure
NIKMOE: Once we do everything in this game and hit that 100% completion... there is nothing left for us in this world. Speedrunners: Allow us to introduce ourselves.
I don't know if you just miss spoke or miss interpreted this but it's not that Elfilis was captured 30 years ago it's that 30 years after capture, Elfilis broke off to Elfilin and Fecto Forgo. It's been most likely thousands of years since the people of that place left.
Hey thanks for watching and pointing this out. From all the research I did, everything seemed to point to the humans leaving 30 years ago. It's the Kirby series 30th anniversary and I thought this was a deliberate move... But your explanation also makes certain elements of the world easier to explain!
@@NIKMOE np, I'm going to quote it from memory so if I mess something up tell me, "However, 30 years after our research began, a warp space incident accord in this facility. A new life form separated from the main specimen, escaped in the aftermath. That new sub-specimen had yet to be recovered. In the time since ID-F86 has shown no signs of activity. It is now kept in a state of permanent stasis within the custom made Eternal Capsule, here on the top level of Lab Discovera" This is saying Elfilis was captured and 30 years later it broke. But with this it also means Elfilin is thousands of years old so let that sink in.
0:33 tell me this is your first kirby game without telling me this is your first kirby game. they've always been really dark in storytelling and lore....
So my personal top 3 Kirbys are Forgotten Land, Nightmare in Dreamland, and Crystal Shards... But you are right, Kirby games definitely have dark moments (especially late game). The point I was going for is that Forgotten Land references things about the real world that are a bit darker that what we typically see from Nintendo, similar to the story of the Splatoon games now that I think of it! (Thanks for watching btw!)
I think another way to interpret the golden void ending in a more positive light would be the fact that it's about not leaving anyone behind. Kirby as a franchise is essentially about friendship and optimism, and I don't think the game and its developers would be so mean-spirited to reward players' investment into the game with shaming them about 100% it. The Golden Void ending could be meant to contrast how the original people of the forgotten land abandoned the animal life; it is the feeling of bitterness at this action that left the Beast Pack and Leongar vulnerable to Fecto Forgo, or at the very least this is how Fecto Forgo convinced the pack to work for them. Just as it isn't necessary to 100% the game, it hadn't been necessary for the original people of forgotten land to bring with them the animals. I think then, the golden void ending is about performing the act of mercy and friendship the original forgotten land inhabitants hadn't and, you know, breaking the cycle of forsaking the beast pack to an entire world of ruin and isolation
I don't know how I could live without 100% this game. I had to get all the waddle dees and treasure toads I could do and soul pieces in order to face the boss. I was hoping for some secret ending if you collected everything. Turns out I was missing one figure after I did everything else, lol. But my mentality is, 100%, or not move on at all. Those stupid figures tho... I grinded and never got them, and my sister got all the figures I could get at that point in 5 minutes. Now I need to power up every single ability and get goal time in every treasure road... I'm fine don't worry. But I remember when I got 100% completion. I felt underwhelmed, and resentful that there was no kirby masters movie to put my heart at rest. It was complete, and it didn't feel super amazing. So now, kirby sits, staring out the window, admiring the forgotten world.
Or, it invaded 30 years prior to the “warp experiment incident”, and then the recording was created, and then god knows how long it was between then and the game
I’d say beating isolated isles counts as more of an ending than ultimate cup z, since the credits roll after wards, and they’re straight up called “True ending” in the theatre
I haven't finished the video yet but I think your gonna forget about an ending. the ending that a rage quitter would unlock. the ending where Kirby "faints" once and the player just stops playing the game and returns it.
Lil small correction about Elfilin, he was forced to fuse with Fecto Forgo to create Fecto Elfilis, which you fight at the end of the campaign. It's also Fecto Elfilis (ID F86) who invaded New World, not Fecto Forgo. They split due to a lab accident in which Elfilin, now coined as ID-F87, managed to escape.
technically these aren’t endings because you actually progress through the game, as in other games you have to do something specific then do the boss fight/final level again and you will get another ending
I didn't find the 4th and final ending disappointing because of why I decided to 100%. I felt connected to the world after all the time spent saving and helping the inhabitants. I couldn't just leave a guys soul partially complete, I couldn't abandon the waddle dee's. I spent the time saving everything and everyone because it was the right thing to do, because the game got me to really care about the narrative.
5th secret ending: (I’m currently working on it) Beat the game with as high of a completion percentage you can without using any abilities (mouthful doesn’t count as an ability)
for anyone who wants even more than the golden void ending, try to max out the highest evolution of every copy ability, thats what im doing since i didnt have anything to do after the golden void ending P.S. this vid was underrated i loved it
Same, I've been grinding out the ultimate cup z for money and stones, and it's really strange when the ultimate challenge of the game feels like nothing at all. I hadn't really thought of it before, but it really goes back to the consuming theme this video brings up.
18:53 There IS still something left. Getting all times in the treasure roads, doing the H-A-R-D modes of the casino game thingy, getting 99999 coins and the max number of rare stones and upgrading all upgraded powers to +star.
I personally feel that getting all the waddle dees and leongars soul pieces is the 4th ending while Full 100% is the 5th one. Like waddle dees and soul fragments are a part of a story, while fishing or beading some challenges doesn't really effect the world much
I disagree with everything after the 3rd ending. There is almost no implication that humans made the world inhabitable. I think they simply moved on for the sake of exploration, much like us. I heard theories that the people went on to become the technologically advanced part of the Ancients, because Fecto Elfilis's invasion was WAY more than 30 years ago. That's simply when blue elephant split off.
I would like to see a whole playlist of the multiple ending analysis series you've got going on. It's a great concept that noone else has dived into so I could see you tapping into a solid niche and getting alot of success from capitalizing on it.
This game kinda reminds me of the endless snow planet of Kirby 64, it looked very much like Earth but frozen over with no humans in sight and the mall it mostly takes place in looked kinda dilapidated.
Honestly, from what I've heard, this game's side challenges feel pretty good to complete, and it's a pretty pleasant experience. I feel like the Golden Void ending isn't just about doing everything there's left to do and feel underwhelmed about it. I feel like it's more about... finishing that collection of neat things you started, spend some time relaxing and fishing, go out to the movies, donate to talented musicians, play a few tabletop games, and help some friends with a side gig. It feels more like doing relaxing things for fun, y'know? Where the journey is the reward by itself, but it's not an arduous journey either. Instead, it's a pleasant one, where you can relax, eat some food with friends, and... feel the Spring Breeze. Y'know what I'm sayin'?
At first, yeah. The implications of the Chaos Elfilis fight seem to include the idea that after Morpho Knight was defeated, Fecto took over and assimilated it.
I don't know I had 100% by the time I finished the game naturally, beat the game 2 days after launch. I felt complete when I had that screen. However, much like Kirby Super Star, I'll keep coming back for more playthroughs every year.
The idea that the moral message being about consumption is kind of a stretch, to be honest. Since the environment isn't the result of overdevelopment and post-, it's just post-abandonment. The people that lived here didn't destroy the world, they literally just left for a world where they don't have a care.
something that you forgot to mention is that in an ealier game, i think that in a gamemode where you play as meta knight, at some point you face galacta knight, but this one is also absorbed by the butterfly, given new appearance and powers, galacta (or morpho knight) has the power to go trough dimensions, which lead him into the forgo dreams dimension, and galacta consumed fecto forgo lol.
So this is a fairly deep piece of lore, but the Forgotten Land was not inhabited by humans, as Earth can be seen in Kirby 64 as Shiverstar. Due to Forgo's ability to create star shaped portals (much like the Lor Starcutter and the Master Crown), it's highly likely that the inhabitants were the technological Ancients mentioned by Magolor in Return to Dreamland and Hyness in Star Allies. Is this relevant at all? No. Am I a massive Kirby nerd who knows way more about the lore of this franchise than I really should? Yes.
Great video! I felt the exact same way RE: Golden void ending with Super Mario Odyssey as well. The both games were truly not designed to be played past a certain point, rather the variety and amount of extra content is in there to appeal to the largest number of players possible. I've always felt a huge amount of respect for the designers for not providing a fancy reward for 100%ing the game, because the general ethos of Nintendo and its properties (atm, anyway) is that one player is not better than the other.
I honestly love this game. So much so that I 100% completed it! Three times! I am not joking when I say I have nothing better to do with my spare time.
So what you’re saying is: the Golden Void ending resembles that we weren’t satisfied with the other endings? If this is about me YOU’RE MORE THAN RIGHT BOEY!
Fecto Forgo gets absorbed by the butterfly, not the other way around. The butterfly also absorbed Galacta Knight in the last game, creating Morpho Knight.
This was a very well done video, but the whole "consumption meta-narrative" theory seems a little far-fetched to me. To me, there's not really any concrete evidence that explains that the theme of the game centers around over-consumption. Besides, 100 percenting the game is it's own reward, I wouldn't call it a punishment from the developers for playing the game too much.
I feel if your interest is in 100% completion, you really need to tackle all those optional things as you go along, all I had left to do after Chaos Elfilis was the last shift at the resteraunt, the last upgrade for the Band, a good number of figures and a small smattering of waddle dees and challenge portals, I wrapped it up in a day practically. So for me it wasn't disappointing, cause it didn't feel like much effort. and by the way, you don't have to get Target time on the challenge portals to get 100%.
There is another. Beat all three Kirby Tilt-and-Roll Extra Hard Boards, under the target time. Beat all the Treasure Roads under the target time. Get the hidden Rare Stone in each level of Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams. Fully Power Up every single Copy Ability. Your reward is nothing.
One thing to explain: this is the second time you see Morpho Knight. First: Star allies boss rush, where it was actually Galacta Knight getting absorbed, just like elfilis
My first Kirby game and had an absolute blast with it. I got 100% but saw that as a personal goal rather than an ending of the game. For me the colosseum ending was the true one, afterwards was just Kirby doing some fun tasks like collecting the last couple figures, checking out the movie theater, and going for a nice long sleep. I thought it was the perfect way to end for me. (For the record though I did all the extra stuff as I went, collected all the Waddle Dees or Leon soul fragments in each stage before moving onto the next, got all the rare stones and upgrades as I went, did the mini games as they became available etc.)
Guys, The "Golden Void" is just Elphilis transforming him self ! Look ! It's just his Ears/Wings cover his whole body ! And the "eyes" are just the tiny space between his wings and his legs ! Did you really thought that it could be possible to have a Void termina in the fogotten land ? It's not even in the same game ! Guys don't think everything you see is true !
With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I was satisfied with the Third Ending, AKA Hero of the Wild. With Kirby and the Forgotten land, however, while I have already managed to get the Golden Void ending, I have yet to upgrade all the Copy Abilities. It is a fifth ending... one that you missed, and one that has no reward other than personal satisfaction: Doing everything, just because you can. And in Forgotten Land, I actually 100%'d it as I went... the last five things I did in the game, in approximate order, are as follows: Beat Chaos Elfilis, do the Frenzy Gig, and do a few extra rounds at the coliseum and purchase and trade for figurines. Yes, that does mean that I liberated as many waddle dees as I could before facing off against Leongar a single time, and recovered all of Leon's soul before ever facing Morpho.
Fun fact: Kirby and The forgotten land is not The first time you see Morpho knight in Kirby star allies if you 200% the game I promise you will see Morpho knight in Kirby star allies
This game was the most fun I’ve ever had playing a 3D platformer, and maybe the most fun I’ve had playing a game in a while. Just enough difficulty to be challenging without discouraging, and fun battle mechanics (dodge roll go brrrrrrr). I loved getting all the Waddle Dees and even standing at the Gotcha Machines for half an hour to finish the collection. Morpho Knight Sword is an amazing OP copy ability and I love it. The music is awesome and the post game is long and hard enough to be satisfying without overstaying its welcome. This might be my favorite video game in a long time.
I never thought of the game being multiple endings. I just saw 1 ending and 1 game to 100%. So this is a nice idea that I'll have to think about more in the games I play. Also I never saw the setting of this game like how you do. I just played the game with no thought about where I am or what im doing other than I must defeat the evil.
I disagree with the statement saying that humans used to live in the forgotten land I’m pretty sure the level shiver star from Kirby 64 and the Crystal Schardz is clearly earth cause you can see the entire planet and is a frozen over Apocalypse place as well this forgotten land is not frozen over completely I think personally this is where the scientific ancients are from.
The reason I agree that this is the best Kirby game ever made is because of the Fecto Forgo chase scene which is intense. Because it is so great to be chased by Fecto Forgo is that the music is dramatic and the biting and violence and very amazing. Imagine how intense it would be, 100% INTENSE AND TERRIFYING which to me is one of the best chase scenes ever.
This might just be me but i felt like the little jpeg for getting 100% is the best i got the best feeling when i saw it i just had the feeling of completion and i wouldnt want anything more
Loved the video, but I do have one general note.
@@ChaosServant-ll7pr no, game theory is much more logical
@@ChaosServant-ll7pr Uhhhh... the climate crisis thing isn't ENTIRELY off base, it's just interpreting shiver star as part of this lost world's canon. Which is a reach, but not an unreasonable one. The only reason it's not just wild guessing and trying to connect previous games without reason, is because the director of the kirby games since super star ultra has been putting a lot of effort into connecting previous titles with current ones lore wise.
small correction, it's The Butterfly who absorbs Fecto Forgo, not the other way around
Well, both happen
One after the other, but both still happen
It's outright confirmed in game-
Edit: I should have been clearer. The shilohuette after Morpho is defeated is chaos elfilis curled up! If you compare the shape to elfilis' intro, it's the exact same
@@star-aether Yes Chaos Elfilis is forgo, they still didn't absorb Morpho Knight, only some of their energy after they had already vanished
"they all have the same name and look identical" makes them easier to love and rescue
This is true I WILL SAVE EVERY WADDLE DE
Thank you
reasonable, but for one thing, It's possible the experiments have been going on for a long time, maybe even in the hundreds hypothetically, But there's no way the world we see is one that has been abandoned for anything like 100 years. concrete and other similar structures wouldn't last that long.

Why become an angel of death (morpho knight sword) when you can murder everything in seconds with a singularity
Haha yessssss space ranger gunnnnn
Two guns do the trick
I was more of a coward throughtout most of the game and didn't learn the doge well so ice was my best friend. Especially enemies that can reset the thaw altogether.

This is a pretty *long* comment
Yeah, Kirby lore is insane, and I love to see the whiplash. Folks be like "ey, the cute Kirby games where he eats the little evil guys, so funny and cute haha", but then they go like "what in the absolute fuck is that monstrosity of a final boss", and then they read the lore and they're like "this is too much lore for a game about a pink marshmallow with a black hole for a stomach, goddammit, even the way I described Kirby is horrifyingly cute."
Ending 5: The forgotten One
You found everything in the Game, even three HAL-Secrets in World 1, 3 and 6 BUT YOU INSTINCTS TELL YOU "THERE MUST BE MORE".
Everyworld outside of lab discovera, and forgo dreams, actually does have a secret room!
There’s THREE HAL ROOMS? I 100% completed the game and didn’t find a single one!
The 5th ending transports you into the game, and then you meet TMK
Fun fact
If you dodge, Kirby's next attack is the strongest one he can pull off, or close to it (i.e, Hammer Flip lv 2, Morpho Knight Sword final combo)
ooh that’s why it’s always heal when you’re using Morpho knight’ sword
@@multigaming4219 Also a level 2 spin attack does the same thing
Also, for the Morpho Knight ability, if you hit multiple enemies before landing the final round slash or cleave, you heal more for each target you had hit in that combo. This also applies to the level 2 charge where Kirby spins around in a fiery tornado.
Something that sets this game apart from others with multiple endings, all the endings are technically canon , they just happen one after the other.
There's also the grind of powering up every single ability and its upgrades to +⭐, which I'm sure someone else in the comments has mentioned already.
And the glitches.

100% clear Kirby jpegs are what gives me my lifeforce.
I had fun completing Kirby, even with the ball rolling minigame, I shudder at the very thought of truly completing breath of the Wild.
you should make one of these on "animal well" it also has 4 different endings *(major spoilers to the game ahead)*
first one, simple, light all flames, defeat the manticore.
second one is collecting all 64 eggs and collect the 65th egg to revive the manticore and drive it to a floating island.
third is the bunnys, collect the 12 (i think?) bunnys with complicated puzzles the average player wouldnt bother to complete and finaly metamorphosize into a butterfly.
fourth is the glyphs, uncover all the glyphs and finaly use them to uncover a map to the ultimate secret, headphones with developer notes to the crazy part of the comunity.
Incredible timing! I just started playing animal well, it seems really cool so far. (also much more difficult than I was expecting lol)
How did you get all the way to chaos elfilis without dodging? That is insane, no wonder you found it so challenging
@@Irish_Enderman hovering, sliding and blocking. Also full Hammer Charge and full Blaster Charge
Elfilis very well could have drained that area of the ocean to prevent escape or blew in a sandstorm from another planet, etc
The forgotten people, after elfilis was captured, rebuilt wonderia, built 2 malls to replace the one in the now desert, and rebuilt cities for people to live in.
Just a precision: you don't actually need to check all optional checkboxes to reach 100%: there are at least two things you don't need:
- reaching the target time in Treasure Roads (yes, it actually doesn't count and the reward is extremely meagre, only a few dozen coins)
- enhance all your abilities to +star, including the non-final versions (and oh boy, given the absolutely obscene amount of rare stones you need for this, thank GOODNESS it doesn't count!)
- you could also argue that a third thing is completing all Cups with no buffs or amiibo (as both are displayed on the results screen) but that's a stretch...
Thanks for the vid!
Interestingly i had a similar experience in devil may cry 5. Nero can dodge last moment multible times even, but i wouldn't have tried if the bosses didn't force me to move
The dodge roll is very powerful when you know how to use it honestly also I mean I love everything except the bloodied tilt and roll

It is now kept in a state of permanent stasis within the custom made Eternal Capsule, here on the top level of Lab Discovera"
This is saying Elfilis was captured and 30 years later it broke.

Forgo didn’t invade 30 years prior to the game, it invaded 30 years prior to the recording in lab discovera
Or, it invaded 30 years prior to the “warp experiment incident”, and then the recording was created, and then god knows how long it was between then and the game
Actually I think Kirby and the Forgotten Land has 2 endings. One after the “lab discovera” stage, and one after the ultimate cup Z.
I’d say beating isolated isles counts as more of an ending than ultimate cup z, since the credits roll after wards, and they’re straight up called “True ending” in the theatre
That name is so bad
I'm sorry but come on HAL

you only have to do 4 of these to get the “golden void" ending: waddle dees, leon's souls, figures, and the other 3 endings.
You happened to misinterpret the morpho knight part the butterfly absorbed forgo not the other way around
5th secret ending: (I’m currently working on it)
Beat the game with as high of a completion percentage you can without using any abilities (mouthful doesn’t count as an ability)
for anyone who wants even more than the golden void ending, try to max out the highest evolution of every copy ability, thats what im doing since i didnt have anything to do after the golden void ending P.S. this vid was underrated i loved it
thats what im doing too, i made the mistake of giving the gotcha trader all my stars tho rip

Same, I've been grinding out the ultimate cup z for money and stones, and it's really strange when the ultimate challenge of the game feels like nothing at all. I hadn't really thought of it before, but it really goes back to the consuming theme this video brings up.
I'm doing that too!
69696969 coins and 6969 rare stones later...
BTW what does P.S. mean?!?!?
#KirbyAndTheForgottenLand
18:53 There IS still something left. Getting all times in the treasure roads, doing the H-A-R-D modes of the casino game thingy, getting 99999 coins and the max number of rare stones and upgrading all upgraded powers to +star.
I love those multiple ending videos! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I think it's called "Shiver Star".
@@etube6226 yeah that’s the planet! Thanks for reminding me!
I'm pretty sure the butterfly absorbs fecto forgo, not the other way around.
At first, yeah. The implications of the Chaos Elfilis fight seem to include the idea that after Morpho Knight was defeated, Fecto took over and assimilated it.
I loved the odyssey video and it's so cool to see you return with this game :D
Hello! Im new to your channel and Im ready to see more of your videos! Keep up the good work👍
And here i thought you found a secret, creepy 4th ending where kirby becomes a golden void and consumes everything or something along those lines.
"The loin man" got me so good 😂
I don't know I had 100% by the time I finished the game naturally, beat the game 2 days after launch.
The people that lived here didn't destroy the world, they literally just left for a world where they don't have a care.
... this man has never played another Kirby game before has he?
This has to be the best platformer on switch right now!
its the best game on switch
@@pathfinder9401 Oh how true....
something that you forgot to mention is that in an ealier game, i think that in a gamemode where you play as meta knight, at some point you face galacta knight, but this one is also absorbed by the butterfly, given new appearance and powers, galacta (or morpho knight) has the power to go trough dimensions, which lead him into the forgo dreams dimension, and galacta consumed fecto forgo lol.
Yay more NiKMoe videos!! I can’t wait to watch more of your videos!!
Is there a "Couldn't beat Clawroline" ending? because if so, I achieved it
So this is a fairly deep piece of lore, but the Forgotten Land was not inhabited by humans, as Earth can be seen in Kirby 64 as Shiverstar.
Morpho Knight only gets stronger.
18:50 " before there is nothing left for us in this world "
Damn that hit deep
Does anyone have a link to the 3rd ending video in the intro?
👀 good catch… stay tuned!
Fun fact: giga sword’s shield literally blocks everything from explosions to bullets to lasers. So yea you could also do that during chaos

These have been one of the best commentary I have heard, great job!!! Keep em coming bro. 💪

I'm close to getting to the final ending- I'm just finishing up on saving all of the Waddle Dees!
Omg I got all 4 endings anyways! My first thought was "wait there's more?" And there wasn't but still a nice video!
Morpho knight has been a pretty good anime throughout the entire Kirby series and the way it returns in this one is just amazing
Kirby has visited a post apocalyptic earth before but it was something the game didn’t call attention to
Shiver star?
Kirby is the eye of the universe from outer wilds.
Wait, you mean not getting enough soul pieces gives a whole different ending cutscene? I never knew that!
I didn't know about the third ending, I really appreciate this video. Thank you!!! ❤
This might just be me but i felt like the little jpeg for getting 100% is the best i got the best feeling when i saw it i just had the feeling of completion and i wouldnt want anything more
