This reminds me of the percolating public resistance that developed due to the overexposure of disco near the end of the 70s, as punk rock was too narrowband for the masses to latch onto at the time. I may remember wrong, but does anyone recall a "death to disco" rally that destroyed a number of disco records in Candlestick Park? And... did Zappa have anything to say about it?
