We’re Zoom. And We’re For Creators.
It's very strange to talk about one microphone while speaking into another. This applies to many of your videos. Do comparison tests, you have all the products, show how they sound!
We need some collar mic or wireless mic from zoom please
Would it be possible to give some information regarding the preamps? How quiet are they?
Just got the notification these were in stock and ordered one. Can't wait to use it for recording nature sounds.
How do the microphones and pre-amps compare to the H1n?
huaaa i love it when you said "Good Luck" ... Its a good product
Is it less noisy than the previous model?
I checked a few recent reviews and apparently the Essential is just as noisy as the H1N. Zoom probably used the same preamps from 2010.
I would be fine with the orginal if they would updated the firmware to allow for a backup track.
It's a good little unit but the audio is not clean. The big let down of this is the pre-amps are very poor. Some audio although not clipped is very noisy and almost unusable. For this to be worthy of recommendation maybe put the same pre-amps is as the slightly more expensive Zoom F3. Still not perfect but still much better. And if it meant paying another £30-£40 I absolutely would.

So is this like a revamped ZoomH1? I used to have the original Zoom H1.
Can it be used with iPhone without using camera usb like ik multimedia products.
What different h1e 32bit and h4e 32bit? Differen quality?
can i record from my band's mixer headphone out into this device as if i were plugging a lav into it?
Can the Zoom H1e also be used as an audio interface (sound card) for the PC like its predecessors H1,H1n?
For the Zoom H1e I can only see from the data sheets that it can be used as a USB microphone.
What's the difference in specs between h1e and m2 mictrack (released about year ago)? They seem to have similar features, but thesecond is twice the price.
Is it better than h1n?
I think so, it seems like it has a little bit better sound and has less microphone noise when quiet, but I miss the plastic that covered the mics and helped protect them so the windshield could slip on, sine I put it in the pocket so much. Still testing it though.
is stereo?...capture sound in stereo?
How much does it cost and how can I purchase it from you from Bangladesh.
I preordered one of these but what windscreen do you recommend? I picked up the Rycote windscreen for the H1n hoping it will work but do you a recommended one? What accessories come in the box?
do we have release date for Europe? H1N was my first device and i love it. Can't wait to try this one out.
Mine too.
I'm wanting to use this for two purposes. I want to connect this to my phone which I'm using to record nature scenes. Hoping for this scenario it will be better than my phone audio but will be in sync with the video. Will it work for this situation? Also wanting to use it for Voiceover... so can i use it to connect to my phone as I edit my videos? Total newbie here... so I hope someone can answer all this for me in kid language!
Will there be a Zoom H2 essential?
If this had a locing lav I would go nuts!
Right-angle adapter & rubber band. If you managed to ruin a recording after that, the wearer probably requires medical attention.
hello, I have a problem: after recording the sound, when I download it to the computer and then it is silent. how to turn up the volume when recording in zoom??? I am begging for help
use normalization on export or in audio software.
What's the device's EIN?
i wanted to know if you put rechargeable AAA batteries in them, can they recharge it?
It can’t recharge the batteries in device
How do you control the gain for recording directly into camera now that the 0-10 dial has been removed?
Most cameras don’t have 32 bit float capabilities through the 3.5mm mic jack. Massive dealbreaker for me if the gain control has been buried in the menus :(
@@DanNeedhamVisual but you can set output level on the side.
@@pandanioyou can’t set the gain with the volume knob, that’s to set monitoring volume
@@DanNeedhamVisualnot only has the gain not been buried in the menus, but there is no gain control at all 😂😂
@@Ferrous_Bueller Baffled as to how you're supposed to use this as an on camera microphone. I'd love to have a 32bit backup recording for shooting live events, but at this point I'm convinced it wont be a backup and I'll be manually syncing everything.
Shame, the h1n is a beast of a mic for festivals and club gigs.
Can this be used with the app?
This can’t be used with the app
witam, jestem niewidomy, czymowa syntetyczna w tym urządzeniu to TTS czy nagrane sample?
I wish a new h2 and h3 models, but less noisy (and a bit more compact) if possible
The zoom h1 essential has no limter or auto-gain settings. When connecting to DJ mixer it will give you 'INPUT OVERLOAD' error as it cant control the audio thats coming in through the DJ's mixer. This audio gain will always be too high and not recoverable giving you a very bad audio.
If you think we're going to go out and buy this right away, you're right. I want to buy it immediately.
I did, until I realized there is no option to set gain. I guess they thought everyone would only want to use 32bit float 😂
This should NOT be called an H1. You have abandoned what made the original H1 good for a certain niche. The H1essential is nearly twice as big as the original H1.. and losing the mic cage makes it impossible to just toss into the pocket of your jeans without worrying about the mics being knocked off
I would happily pay H6 or above prices just to have a new H1 in the ORIGINAL SIZE but with the highest possible quality mics and preamps (and yeah 32bit and SDXC card support) - a single AA is also preferable over 2xAAA
I have other large sized PCM recorders but the H1 was perfect for just carrying around with you everywhere, for popping into a shirt pocket to record with and so on. It's so frustrating that you've effectively left that market now - the H1essential fits into the same size category as the larger PCM recorders now - it's lost what was special about it
Thanks for your comment - Just as a note - the H1essential is actually smaller than the original H1 and H1n.

I would buy a case for it rather than put it in a pocket. That would be a solution as long's the case is not too big.
@@ZoomSoundLab thanks for your reply - I would love to see a side by side, because according to your own specs this just is not the case:
H1 - 44 mm (W) x 136 mm (D) x 31 mm (H)mm
H1essential - 53.9 mm (W) × 136.6 mm (D) × 29.0 mm (H)
D/H they are comparable, so let's look at width. The widest element on the H1 is the mic cage, I measure my own model at 43mm there. The width of the main body is 34mm.
The widest element on the H1essential must be the "elbows" of the X/Y mics for the 53.9mm - based on front on product pics and measuring pixels I'd estimate the main body width to be around 42mm at the wider parts and 36.5mm at the thinnest taper
As WalterDavidRiffmon notes, the lack of a mic cage would also necessitate a case on top of this to protect the mics when kept loose in a pocket - so this adds an element to the size also. Or at least it would need a heavy duty rubberised cap, similar to the dual lens cap used on something like the Insta360 X3 camera
Again, with the larger model PCM recorders having to use a case doesn't really matter. I have several of these and if I'm taking them outside it's being packed safely in a bag so the extra size of a case is no big deal.. and the majority of times these just get used in the studio
But I still feel the convenience element of the H1 has been dropped with this new design and you no longer have a current gen PCM recorder that suits the purpose the H1 was excellent for. I've been wanting to upgrade the H1 for years (H1n didn't have an appreciable sound difference and going from 1xAA to 2xAAA was a downgrade) - and like I said I'd happily pay H6 prices for a premium grade H1 in the original form factor that really focused on getting the best quality microphones/preamps into that size (with a cage!).. but the H1essential doesn't seem to be it unfortunately, despite the other improvements like 32-bit recording
I'm just trying to give you some constructive feedback, as this new H1 doesn't fit the purpose I use it for. Cheers
@@ZoomSoundLab Can I just confirm that the Essential will fit in my H1n case and also take the H1n pop shield?
I can't believe there's any device sold in 2024 that needs AAA batteries.
Actually its the most reliable solution (eg

(serious - I want one. where can I obtain one of these please??)
