Maegor is so interesting to me. Not my favorite by any stretch, but so many things I'd like to know about that guy.
Same here. If they ever do an Aegon’s conquest show, I’d love some time spent on Aenys and Maegor in their youth. They would’ve worked so well ruling together if they liked each other since Aenys was kind and not insane while Maegor had the strength Aenys lacked.
My first time reading sons of the dragon before fire & blood even came out told me that this needed to be a prequel. The closing scenes of Maegor’s reign with him sitting alone on the Iron throne with the knowledge that he had Blackfyre stolen from him, 3 dragonriders were converging on the capital, and every lord paramount was in open rebellion gave me chills.

Wasn't he in awe of how Maegor had everyone who worked on the red keep slaughtered after a feast.
@@CrusaderChris It'll be interesting because Maegor will play a similar role to the Mad king in the original show.

I tell you honestly, I don't think there is anyone out there who has created a fictional land, rich with complexity and people like this. Like when I have had some very bad life issues and I really needed an escape that wasn't gonna kill me like narcotics and alcohol, I webbed myself in this world and at times I was like in another world.
Not too many authors can do it like Martin. So sad he can't finish the last two.

The only person I know of that creates the same effect you’re speaking of is Oda author of One Piece, I’m sure every OP fan would like to see Rogers era/Godvalley almost as much as Luffy becoming pirate king

If Aegon saw the events of the future; then it must be that the Aegon in ASOIF (Jon) must have been the Prince that was promised. How was that Arya? Shock factor? How could such a secret of Jon's parenthood be of zero consequence to the story?

Their dreams arent always perfect. Literally the only one that was ever perfectly correct was Daenys the Dreamer with the doom. What Aegon saw in his dream did come true. A Targaryen did join all the houses of westeros and defeat the night king. He never said that he saw a Targaryen kill the night king. I do think the show didnt do it justice, but everything does make sense.

@joshtraffanstedt2862 it's not confirmed to be Jon , that's not what the song of ice and fire means , no he didn't only the North was United the rest of westaros had nothing to do with it , no he didn't Jon had nothing to do with the prophecy because D&D forget what the actual plot of got was about.

Of course my favorite character is Daemon Targaryen. He’s cool and interesting and evil and he always wants to be loved. That’s what makes the constant banishment from court so cruel: prison or death wouldn’t bother Daemon, but being sent away from the brother he loves does.
This was an excellent explanation of the beginning of the games, essentially. I would have loved if the show started from the beginning, but the interpukes probably would have gotten sick of the show by season 4 or 5 because of their ADHD.

Long before HOTD premiered, I did wonder why Torren Stark didn't just challenge Aegon to one-on-one combat like Jon Snow did with Ramsey before the Battle of the Bastards. I figured a Stark would've wanted to settle things the old way rather than simply kneel. I hope GRRM answers that question one day
Aegon would have little reason to accept and would likely win anyway because he had a valyeren steel sword
@@thatoneblackdude3333 Ice was also made of Valyrian steel. Aegon missed the opportunity to show respect to the northern gods (the people he wanted to conquer) but I guess he couldn't take the risk if he thought he'd lose
@@lizd.8655 ice wasn't a sword used for battle it was used for exacusion so it doesn't really matter aegon was no slouch in a fight he may have not fought often but that doesn't mean he couldn't if it came to trial by combat he'd likely win even if torren somehow wielded ice .
Likely wouldn’t have made a difference. After the revelation of the White Walkers coming, it doesn’t seem likely Aegon would gamble the future of humanity on a dual. Especially since he have no reason to do so and already hold all the cards anyway.
Ngl I just assumed he was like "look, I know there are horrible monsters out there, let's just be civil so when shit pops off humanity can live." And torrhen was like "bet"

I was never interested in this genre before Game of Thrones. Geeks tend to think we're all just too dumb and shallow to like their complicated fantasy worlds. In truth, you just need to have compelling characters and relationships on top of the magical stuff. And maybe better marketing 😂

I doubt it was vacant. I assume the Archons of Valyria left a small garrison or some sort of force to hold the castle. They were probably outranked by Aenar, so they yielded the castle to him. Who knows, though. Maybe it was the Targaryen family’s castle all along, but never officially lived there and just used it as an outpost. I’m curious, though.

So random question, Since the Velaryons in the show are Black and Aegon l and his sisters Mother was a Velaryon.. does that make Aegon mixed?? 😯😯

When George RR Martin originally created Targaryens, they were Black.
I think I heard that Corlys' mother would be from the summer isles in the show. Which means only the velaryons from House of the Dragon are black/mixed. The same would not apply too Corly's paternal ancestors.
