I studied in different schools in the US.Let me give you some advice. The only reason they don't hire you is Nobody knows you. There are tons of students and architects who can do parametric design and structure optimization. How can a university distinguish who is better? When you see the portfolios today, everyone has super shining projects. However, we know only a few core people actually can deal with complex problems. Therefore, the only thing American universities trust is Recommendations. I know European guys do fancy designs with the best technology, but there are too many not bad architects and designers in American. So, if you really want to find a position in a university in the US, finding a job in NYC, LA or SF, then know as many people as you can and tell them how good you are. Getting a recommendation from the key people and you even don't have to apply. Universities today can't find really good professors actually, because it doesn't pay a lot and architecture schools don't have money. I guess you definitely have a lot of chances if you are in the US now.

Yoy don’t need to go into teaching at Uni. It’s not the most rewarding job. What you want is to be a free person. That’s what I am doing and investing in myself.

Dear Milos, we are in the same boat. I see it the same way as you. Having a PhD in a field of economics nieche the academia looks the same at me.
