Always know interest rates before you go into the dealership. At the time I bought my last used car I had checked my financial institution to find their rate was 3%. The dealer told me they could get me financed at 3.5%. When I mentioned that I could get 3% suddenly their rate dropped to 2.5%.

I thank you for being so transparent. The same this happened to me today. I tried to buy a nice modded pristine SS. And it’s was a rare optioned out 6speed. My credit is a 806 and the interest rate was 9.99%!! My bank didn’t wanted to touch it because it’s 8 years old. They didn’t care how pristine it was with only 25k miles.
To get the emotional start you have to turn the ignition on put it in sport plus then pull the shift lever. I haven’t looked at interest rates lately but if you have a A+ plus credit 750 and above you could’ve got better rates with credit union or USAA. The F&I definitely took advantage of you for sure with 760+ . I wouldn’t ever use a dealership again. Walk in with your own or better yet get a dealer license and you can save the tax and registration fees as often as you flip the cars. That’s what I’d recommend to you. Just your dealer license alone will save you enough money to where you could also get a project car and that you can buy it at auction if that’s something you’d be interested in doing I don’t know👍

Love the S65 coupe, congrats on the purchase! Resale values on higher end German cars are typically very poor as compared to the original sticker price. After 4-5 years the values drop off a cliff. But you'd probably have to keep it for a few years to realize that appreciation. Those new wheels are everything too man.

I'm with you on the interest. My lease was up and I traded in and got 5k in equity for it which was awesome. Got a 2020 car, similar credit score as you, and my rate was 8.1%. It's wild.
I refinanced my car just before the rates went up at 3.24% and my score was 675. Now people with 750 scores are getting 8%+ and sometimes outright denied a loan
Wow! Things are crazy with these interest rates right now. I purchased a new car back in December 2022 and got an interest rate of 5.29, which was higher than the interest rate on my previous vehicle that I had for a long time.🤷♀️
I love the AMG. Such a rare spec, even around here in Dallas. Well, except for the grandma’s whippin the S class coupes with fishbowl glass and stock rims! Keep up the great videos. Well done
Even in todays market that interest rate sounds high to me. I guess it may be due to the age of the car...and wow that is a LOT of depreciation on that. The part that would scare me is I can imagine that there is no warranty on this Mercedes and simple repairs could be thousands at a time...especially at the Mercedes dealer
Daamn bro im rlly happy for you i really love to see people living their dream life tho... i want this to happen to me some day man i hope one day i will hop in such a car like this and kick it down and forget for all the fking problems.. im happy for you man keep going!! 😊💪🏻
Here is how to get the exhaust louder at start. Push the start button until everything lights up but don't put your foot on the break. Shift the car into S+ and then put your foot on the brake and push the button to start the car. The valves will be open already and you will hear the crack and a very loud startup.
They definitely marked the rate up on you two points. Tier 1 credit is getting 5-7% buy rate. I’m surprised being a previous sales consultant and also knowing about cars you didn’t make them give you the buy rate to get the deal. Really should have…
@@tax905972 if you don’t have to go through the hassle of refinancing why would you? I guess being a RUclipsr you’d have all the time in the world to do something like that though.
@ryanrattray3199 I bought a CPO last week . They quoted 8.4 with no money down. I dropped 10 percent down and that lowered my rate to 6.1. To your point, the rates are usually better for tier 1. Maybe he paid higher due to age of the car?
I am by no means a financial expert, but I would suggest trying to refinance asap with a local credit union. I just bought a 2017 R8 plus (loved yours btw), and I got a 5.45 % rate. My FICO score was 818, so higher, but you should easily be able to get in the 6´s with your score. CNBC said today that the fed could cut rates later in the year so you can always refinance then. Good luck!
Can you dive in more to the day to day finances of the car? Things like how much does a full tank get, how much miles does a full tank give, the prices for tire changes, oil changes, etc. I would like to understand how much it would cost to maintain such a car.
That’s to simple and general… with prices these days… his tank of gas $60-80, range 300-350, tires on a car like this is about $2k (starting), oil change is $200 (starting)
We all have our opinions but it’s really none of our business what your interest rate or monthly payment is. If you’re happy and comfortable with the deal then so be it. In my opinion this is the most beautiful and classy looking car you’ve had on the channel. It just looks so good in silver with the red interior and those wheels…but I know in order to make money on the channel you have to keep making mods on it. That worries me knowing that you want to lower it and wrap it but like I said it’s not my business so do what you want to do to it. I just hope my heart can take it!🤣 Love your channel. Been here since the Fusion days.
Why was the deal you got so good?? That car sat for about 8 months trying to be sold. They finally sent the car to auction to get rid of it and that is where the VW dealer got it from. Seems like you could have got a better price. Also you credit must be bad because my credit union has that loan for 5.74% right now. You got hosed at 9.2. Go refinance the car right now.
I miss that feeling. I’ve taken sports cars out for a quick 15 minute drive because they were so awesome and swap them out again to go to work so their nice and safe in the garage.
My credit is 827. Bought two new Mercedes last year at 4% APR....3 weeks ago I went to buy a truck for my business, which has even better credit. Bought many vehicles in the past and paid them all off. Give my EIN and 30 minutes later go pick up the vehicle. Commercial interest rates are typically higher by a few points. Well we go to buy a new truck and Ford Financial says 8k down, 11% APR, no less than 7 year loan, and I have to be a Guarantor. I says no way! Go to the next place. same thing but they want 13%. I says well try one more and then forget it. Guy gets me a 9.9%, nothing down, 4 year loan, no Guarantor.....1 week ago, we need a new van, used car lot sends me to a guy that is "said to be good" at getting people approved. Gets me approved in about 30 minutes for a $50,000 at 8% with 3 years and tells me I'm also approved for another $150,000 through the same bank at the 8% and its good for 60 days! Dafaq? Ive NEVER been over-approved!......At the end of the day, yes rates are up, banks are acting weird, but it certainly comes down to who you know/if you get lucky.....Congrats on the car. I remember when I bought my Jaguar some years ago, it had deprciated badly and I thought I got a good deal. Fooking thing still depreciated faster than I could pay it off....
I get the finance stuff behind this. My story is basically this: in March 2022, I had a 2021 Avalon Hybrid, I was upside down on it. I had a 3.9% rate on it, so my credit was fairly decent. My wife and I got a 2020 4Runner to replace it. The rate was 10%. At that time, I didn’t care, because we love that beast. I made it a goal to make at least 12+ payments. We just refinanced to 7% and I did not extend the loan. So payments will eat more of the balance. We still have it and it just got rear ended. It’s not totaled but makes my conviction to keep it stronger! Your Mercedes is an absolutely amazing masterpiece. Keep at it! Haven’t missed a video on it!
I have a 2007 s65 amg, my 6th Benz but first AMG, I freaking LOVE IT, in the future i have it have the final version coupe, that thing is incredible, absolutely incredible
I have been following you since that video you threw the keys out of that ford mondeo ( forgot the english name😅).. and when i was at a lot point in my life YOU made me smile! Even my wife was surprised with that! I did sent you a message back then ( about 4 years ago ) and you even replied! Mike, thank you for everything you do and keep up the good work! You did a lot more than making youtube video's, you made me stand up when i was down.. ❤
I really enjoy having paid off vehicles and would rather have them than any other car if it comes with a payment. But some folks prefer to never pay them off or modify them and trade around instead. But to each their own 👍
You tend to always double up or more on the payments, so if you keep doing that you will kill a lot of that interest anyway. Its funny amazing to see you paid less for that car than for the W205 C63. Love the car man! I can't wait to see what's coming.
I might be wrong and who knows what Mike’s terms are, but most finance places charge you the interest in the loan regardless of your payment schedule…unlike that of a house mortgage where paying it off early, can save you thousands of dollars in interest.
@@robnannemanwrong, if your monthly payment is $600 and you want to pay the $600 plus another $600 towards the principle you just pay them $1,200 and tell them (verbally or in writing) that the extra $600 is towards the principle

This guy seriously lacks business maturity. No offense, but what he is complaining about here was already obvious before he signed that check. I do like this channel for (and I mean this in the best way possible) almost naive fanboy enthusiasm about these cars. I wish him the best, but think he'd benefit from a little more common sense and (business) maturity.
I feel the same way. It's like a reoccurring thing with him. I personally would not have bought it. As much as I appreciate the transparency, I couldn't justify taking on an auto loan for an almost 10% interest rate regardless how much in love I am with a car. My priority would have been to invest in a house that had more than 1 garage. Ha! But hey, it's a beautiful car and Congrats! :)
So many of these guys on youtube buy these depreciated AMGs/BMWs/Porsches to brag and show them off, but lack understanding of how to maintain and/or afford the vehicle. Is it more about the car, or are they starved for attention?
Aaaah, having kids is great. I was in the band in Highschool and worked with color guard, so I know cheering is equally demanding. Hope your daughter has fun. ( Just make sure they don't overwork her) . Hope you get that sponsorship. Happy Early Dad's Day!
I just got a 65k truck the apr is 9.69. Traded in a car I bought in 21 with 1.9 apr. I was shocked at the payments when we sat down to do paperwork. She said it was the best she could get with it. Almost backed out on the deal because of it since tier 1 credit I felt like something was wrong. Talked to a few people and learned that's just how it is at this point in time. Definitely heart wrenching I couldn't imagine getting a 100k plus vehicle right now
You can get a better cold start by pressing the ignition without depressing the brake, then switch it to the most aggressive sport mode (sport+?), then start the car.
Very informative! I grew up kinda poor (we were poor but I was always a go getter and have never felt poor even when I am cash low). ANYWAY… I loved cars as a teen but moved to NYC and lived there for 10 years without a vehicle. I lost track of a lot of my burgeoning car knowledge. Cut to being 43 and I’m finding myself into cars again but work in the at times volatile business of film & tv. I can have nice things but I also have to be very sensible or very creative to financially give myself what I want. Thanks for explaining how you do what you do. I’m inspired in a variety of ways but mostly inspired to go for what lights my inner fire. I love a car that wants to be driven to the store for a single item. My little kid self who loves action and adventure is sometimes my best self.

Brand new. They bought brand new. Not used. An exotic car the interest rates are much higher.
Guy above these comments just got a 2017 r8 for 5%.
I refinanced my car just before the rates went up at 3.24% and my score was 675. Now people with 750 scores are getting 8%+ and sometimes outright denied a loan
Wow! Things are crazy with these interest rates right now. I purchased a new car back in December 2022 and got an interest rate of 5.29, which was higher than the interest rate on my previous vehicle that I had for a long time.🤷♀️
Mike, love to see the smile on your face and the excitement in your voice having the S65 AMG on your channel! Love AMG's...I have an SLK55 AMG.
Local credit unions are still at 4.99%! Try that.
True but... the cars usually have to be 5 years or newer.
@@sdlausen1 Credit unions go up to 7 years old for 4.99%. I use 3 different CU’s and all do the same
@@DefinitelyNotYouThankGod Nice!
I love the AMG. Such a rare spec, even around here in Dallas. Well, except for the grandma’s whippin the S class coupes with fishbowl glass and stock rims!
Keep up the great videos. Well done
Looking forward to see all the things you'll do with that great car!
Paint/wrap the vents black or wrap them in carbon fiber. I think that would fix the glare issue in the mirrors.
no unless the car doesn't have ambient light inside the vents it will not help much. i have this issue too but you get used to it
Even in todays market that interest rate sounds high to me. I guess it may be due to the age of the car...and wow that is a LOT of depreciation on that. The part that would scare me is I can imagine that there is no warranty on this Mercedes and simple repairs could be thousands at a time...especially at the Mercedes dealer
Well according to his fuzzy math he can’t afford NOT to have this car
I appreciate your truthfulness and showing the behind the scenes and real numbers
Really should have…
So you pay it off early and save on that interest rate.
@@tax905972 if you don’t have to go through the hassle of refinancing why would you? I guess being a RUclipsr you’d have all the time in the world to do something like that though.
So-so credit plus an ignorant consumer results in a terrible interest rate.
My issue credit score of over 800 and lowest rate I’ve seen for a CPO is 5.49
@ryanrattray3199 I bought a CPO last week . They quoted 8.4 with no money down. I dropped 10 percent down and that lowered my rate to 6.1. To your point, the rates are usually better for tier 1. Maybe he paid higher due to age of the car?
Get the TRX Back!!!! 🔥🔥💯. I was shocked when you left it at the dealership!! I knew the s65 is just going to be a money pit!!!!
Good luck!
Was literally about to post this exact same advice. My local credit union is offering roughly the same rate, I’d refinance when you can!
I have a 720 and my credit union gave me 7% for a 60 month term. I've also used them for my last 2 vehicles for a 4% and 6% rate
If the media says something you know its more likely going to be the opposite.
😂CNBC said that??? Okay guys, so the freeze is over, let's party now.
That’s the first video I see from you and really have to say: Great stuff man, really enjoyed!
i enjoy your videos for the honest content. keep up the great work!
I own a CLS 53AMG and even though the engine is not like a V12, the share looks and the available power makes me go and buy milk very day.
We need a drag race between your Merc and Mike's coupe beemer.
I wasn’t wild about the lock of this car when you bought it, but those wheels absolutely transformed it. Love the wheels and the car.

@@cjsawinski yep, those are the cheap item. Wait till something breaks in that and this is AMG parts, you need to fat checking account to maintain.
@AutoVlog1 Where can I connect with you big bro?
you really seem to be a straight shooter my man
i’ve been watching your channel for years dude
i enjoy your content
i drive a 2015 chrysler 300S hemi
We all have our opinions but it’s really none of our business what your interest rate or monthly payment is. If you’re happy and comfortable with the deal then so be it. In my opinion this is the most beautiful and classy looking car you’ve had on the channel. It just looks so good in silver with the red interior and those wheels…but I know in order to make money on the channel you have to keep making mods on it. That worries me knowing that you want to lower it and wrap it but like I said it’s not my business so do what you want to do to it. I just hope my heart can take it!🤣 Love your channel. Been here since the Fusion days.
I subscribed when you made the fusion sport vs taurus sho 0-60 video and I’ve been a consistent viewer since then and I don’t plan to stop watching.
Wow, did Copart have it? I think he said it had 5 owners.
I miss that feeling. I’ve taken sports cars out for a quick 15 minute drive because they were so awesome and swap them out again to go to work so their nice and safe in the garage.
It's such an incredible ride, brother. I am looking forward to watching your progress on this car.
A HENRY in the comments
What did u get? 10%??? Horrible times we live in 😑
Nah it's the good times. Teaching consumers a lesson in life to slow down inflation. I hope interest rates eventually get to 20%
@@AveGuy1 you honestly think its gonna teach a lesson? be so fr with yourself LMAO
I just got 7%… and I’m not rich or have good credit and am 30yrs old. I don’t get how people get such high rates.
@@AveGuy1 I think we should make the liberals pay these high rates because they caused it
@@AveGuy1 hahaaa i dont care either
I get the finance stuff behind this.
My story is basically this: in March 2022,
I had a 2021 Avalon Hybrid, I was upside down on it.
I would keep it. v12's are going to go up in price
It's a depreciating asset. No way it would go up in price on a used vehicle.
I have a 2007 s65 amg, my 6th Benz but first AMG, I freaking LOVE IT, in the future i have it have the final version coupe, that thing is incredible, absolutely incredible
Holy crap that's a horrid rate. I am still paying 2.65% on my 2021. The dealer keeps calling me trying to get me to trade in and get a new car LOL
I got 1.9% on my new bmw M340i touring which i am going to collect in August. I live in Switzerland
But to each their own 👍
The starter engaging on the v 12 is so good to hear on start up.
@@cjsawinskiPutting payments towards the principle therefore lowering your principle will lower your overall interest on the loan. Do your homework before correcting strangers on the internet.

I can't wait for the upgrades
Autovlog Great Video I'm glad you shared your expenses on your Absolutely Gorgeous S65 AMG and I'm sorry to hear that your rates aren't that good and I hope you can get refinanced and I can't wait to see the Build
Well I'm curious how you would've made this purchase?
First!!
LMFAO 🤣
4:23 love that low growl...beautiful car. Don't sweat the rate, refinance the car to a credit union and your rate should go down a lot.
I have not watched in awhile but, I happy to see you have added another AMG and its very unique good luck Ill make sure to tune in to see whats next

Unpopular opinion; leave the exhaust alone, it sounds great! Love the way those wheels look.

This is a beast man . I’ll still buy this car 10 years from now
Your videos do well because you are transparent about things and you stay humble.

try a muffler delete as a first step. the V12 turbo devours some of the sound but delivers an authoritative roar at WOT
Definitely heart wrenching I couldn't imagine getting a 100k plus vehicle right now
10% is insane dude. 5 years interest on a $40k loan is almost $11K.
Love seeing the AMG! Thanks for the transparency, these videos are always cool
You can get a better cold start by pressing the ignition without depressing the brake, then switch it to the most aggressive sport mode (sport+?), then start the car.
The reason you are seeing your dash vents in your mirrors is due to the dark tinted windows, the reflection is actually coming off the door glass.
I refinanced my 5 series last fall with a credit union. Dropped from 7.5 to 4.5... Might be worth looking into?

5:20 it's a random idea but you can paint the vents matt black so they won't reflect in the mirror
